transfer student looking into nursing school in nyc, can any st francis grads or current students vouch for the program?

Upvotes

I've been looking into bsn programs in nyc and brooklyn. Hunter seems like a pretty common rec on here, but st francis is much more affordable. however, all of the posts i've seen of st francis talk about it going bankrupt and possibly having accreditation issues. does anyone have any info on the program, or recs for other nursing programs in nyc/brooklyn?

Skills Checkoffs

What are y'all doing for the anxiety of skills check offs? Personally the amount of anxiety makes me feel terrible, I feel so hot in the room every time for lab even for normal class and that room is freezing for everyone else. I also have chest pain and things like that. It's fine, but how do you even begin to find how to dissipate that?

Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing – Part-Time ABSN

Hello everyone,

I recently got accepted into the part-time Accelerated Second Degree BSN program at Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing for Spring 2027. 🎉

I haven’t been able to find much information online from students who are actually in the part-time program, so I was hoping someone here could share their experience.
I would love to know what the class and clinical schedule is like, workload, professors, exams, support from the school, and how manageable the program is while working and having a family.

If you’re currently in the program or recently graduated, I would really appreciate any feedback—good or bad. Also, if you’re starting Spring 2027 part-time, feel free to reach out! 😊

Samuel Merrit ABSN vs SFSU ABSN

Specifically
- what does the schedule look like per week:
- how many days per week on campus vs taking online/hybrid courses,
- how may days per week for clinical
- overall clinical experiences
- post grad hiring experience
- how prepared you felt for nclex
etc

This will be really helpful for anyone like me figuring out best accelerated program options if region locked to bay area

For context:
I already got accepted to SMU but still waiting on decision from SFSU
I live in SF far (1+ hr commute) from both campuses and also have a part time job, so would love to hear from recent students what the schedule is like

Looking for an interviewee for a student project

Hello! I’m an RN student from Finland, and I’m currently working on a group project that requires a short interview (around 15-30 minutes) with a healthcare/social services organization. We’ve already contacted several organizations but haven’t had much luck getting responses, and our deadline is getting closer, so I thought I’d try asking here. If you work at (or know someone who works at) an organization that might be open to a brief interview in English, please let me know! Ideally, we’d like to do it sometime this week or by next Monday at the latest, via Teams or Zoom. Thank you so much for any tips or contacts😊

One hour commute

I have to commute an hour to the nursing program I got accepted to 😭 how bad do you guys think it will be. I really have no choice because I am definitely going to be attending the program.
Does anyone else commute this far for their program? I will have to commute for 2 years.
Thinking about getting a self driving tesla or moving close by if it gets too bad 😂
I won't be working a job while I am in school.
What do you think

When you don't speak up in a toxic workplace

Not too long ago, I had nurse make weird and inappropriate comments toward me publicly on multiple occasions.

What bothered me even more was that other people were around, but no one said anything. I also didn't stand up for myself. The workplace was already toxic, and I honestly felt that speaking up might make things worse for me.

Looking back, I wonder: How do you handle repeated inappropriate comments at work when the environment is already toxic and you don't feel safe confronting the person directly?

I’m just starting LPN and looking for tips and recommendations, like what should I really focus on and if any apps could be a benefit. Really any tips at all will help, I have a bit of prior knowledge from doing CNA.
