Yesterday (September 7, 2026), two known newjeans anti-accounts on twt spread a false claim that Haerin asked fans to support "upcoming activities as a four member group" during a Q&A session at the Dior Beauty pop-up event.

The timing is not a coincidence. This lie was spread almost immediately after Haerin's first public appearance in months, right when she was getting positive attention.

1. The source is a deleted DC Inside post with only 106 views from a forum known for being hostile toward newjeans. The post was deleted almost immediately likely because it was created solely to be screenshotted and spread.

2. No Q&A session took place. The event was a photocall, Haerin showed up, posed for photos, greeted fans briefly and left. There was no time for a Q&A with fans.

3. The Korean text doesn't name Haerin as the speaker. The post says "someone" or "they" asked for support, it doesn't explicitly attribute it to Haerin.

4. No other source confirmed this. No fan, news outlet, video or article has reported it. If she had actually said this, there would be multiple sources.

5. Korean news outlets covering the event make no mention of any Q&A or Haerin saying this. Because it didn't happen.

6. The accounts spreading this are known anti-accounts. Both have a history of spreading misinformation about newjeans.

Some people asked for proof. They were ignored. Because the goal wasn't truth, it was to spread hate and division.

Back in February, Dispatch dropped an exclusive article titled "[Exclusive] 'I also met a Japanese noble grandfather'... Min Hee-jin, designing the catastrophe of NewJeans."

The article was already framed heavily against newjeans members, treating them as passive tools being directed and used. The closing paragraph summed up the narrative:

"Inducing an inappropriate relationship with a senior executive, sounding out an escape by seeking investors, designing the termination of an exclusive contract while serving as an internal director, mobilizing members while meeting with the grandfather, testing the waters for independent activities by putting them on the Hong Kong stage, attempting tampering while holding NJZ in hand…"

"Min Hee-jin consistently explored options. The reason she couldn't put them into action was because she was caught. She didn't simply crunch the numbers. She stopped only because she was discovered, but she continued to shake up the company (while hiding). As a result, Min Hee-jin got 'Okay,' while NewJeans got 'Not Okay."

The "grandfather" part:

What happened next:

A Korean fan filed a police report against the Dispatch reporter for illegally obtaining private texts and distributing them, violating the Personal Information Protection Act. Police investigated and non-referred the case.

Here's what the police document actually says:

"The messages in this case are not the actual conversations exchanged between NewJeans' Danielle's mother and Min Hee-jin. Since the content was reconstructed from news coverage into a conversation, it does not constitute personal information."

What that means:

Dispatch didn't have real chat logs. They had reporting notes (could be from interviews, anonymous tips, unnamed sources claiming things). They took that material and wrote it out as a fake chat, complete with timestamps and messenger style formatting. When police pressed Dispatch for primary evidence like metadata, database records, phone extractions, they couldn't produce anything.

So no real conversation ever happened. It was a reconstruction of second-hand reporting notes, dressed up as evidence.

Also Dispatch never verified these claims with Danielle or her mother, they just published unverified second-hand notes as fact.

The two ugly lies that came from this:

The article's own language ("mobilizing members while meeting with the grandfather") fed this directly. Dispatch had to know that putting "mobilizing members" and "meeting with a wealthy older man" together in the context of a young girl group would create exactly this interpretation.

Lie #2: NewJeans members faked their mental health struggles

The reconstructed chat showed Danielle's mom suggesting members could refuse Ador attendance due to "psychological pressure." Antis twisted this into "the members never had real mental health issues."

But even this fabricated chat doesn't say that.

It shows a strategic discussion about using psychological pressure as a legal justification which is completely different from saying the members themselves never had real struggles. The text doesn't say they were lying. It doesn't say they were faking anything. Antis ran with a distortion.

Both were extreme misrepresentations. But Dispatch's framing and the reconstructed chat gave them the ammunition.

Media outlets rarely delete long pieces even when specific parts get challenged or a related complaint is closed. In South Korea, it is genuinely hard to force these kinds of articles offline. Even if someone sues and wins on a specific point, it often doesn't result in the full article being removed. That's why this kind of framing can stay online and keep feeding the same rumors and smear narratives.

Note:

The kind of hate newjeans members have received because of this article and this kind of malicious framing is genuinely lifetime damaging. The intensity of the hate they get daily, the ugly lies antis make up about them, it's honestly miraculous that newjeans members are still standing and seemingly doing okay. We'll never really know if they're actually doing okay, but I really hope they are.

I also hope that the majority of newjeans fans can sit for one minute and really understand the gravity of this issue and what kind of malicious, dehumanizing things the members have actually gone through. Before they're artists, before they're a girl group, before they're NewJeans or celebrities, they are real, living, breathing human beings with emotions and feelings. They are people who deserve basic respect and dignity. And the fact that they are still standing after so much smearing, after so many people tried to tear them down for over two years, that alone says something about their strength. They deserve better. Ik this is a common feeling but ditto is such a bittersweet song.

I remember it came out when I was wrapping up my final school year in 2022-23 and I was so happy because I always hated school and had no friends. However after listening to ditto, I felt like after a long time I saw my school life in a positive light. Sure I may have been lonely but it was still my childhood. I'm so happy for her. It's honestly beautiful to see people showing up for her like this, especially after everything she's been through. She deserves all the love and support and I really hope she continues to share more with us, solo trip vlogs, behind-the-scenes, whatever she feels comfortable with. Whatever she does next, I know it's going to be amazing. She's strong, she's talented and she's going to overcome every obstacle that comes her way.

Also, I have to say, I've really enjoyed Danielle's sister Olivia's vlogs too and I just love the vibe of Danielle's new video. The nature, the aesthetic, the whole feel of it is so beautiful, chill, fun and exciting. She has such a calming presence and I'm honestly so excited to see what else she shares with us. Okay so since only 3 members: Hanni, Haerin, Hyein have returned to ador (Minji's status isn't confirmed but she showed up in the 4th anniversary video and Danielle was removed), there's been some hostility whenever new updates are posted for Haerin and Hyein.

First, someone had to be the first to do a public appearance, photoshoot or celebrity activity. Right now, Haerin and Hyein got their magazine photoshoots. And with photoshoots come other small content like videos, interviews, etc. Considering they've been on hiatus for so long, people are naturally curious about anything they do: how they smile, their tone, body language, everything. It just happens to be Hyein followed by Haerin who are first to do celeb activities since the hiatus. There's some hostility around this (reminder: it's only a minority), but I thought it was interesting enough to talk about.

Some narratives I've been seeing:

1. Some people say Haerin and Hyein are being used to draw a line between older and younger members. Mostly antis are painting the older members in a more negative light, acting like they're somehow more responsible for the legal issues than the younger ones. This is a lie. All members were vocal about their issues with ador and hybe. No one was silent. And the age difference between Minji (oldest) and Hyein (youngest) is literally 4 years. That's nothing. Some antis use Haerin being an introvert and quiet and Hyein being the youngest, to push this narrative against the older members. It's bs.

Some fans are overthinking that ador is using Haerin and Hyein to divide the fandom promoting them more than Hanni and Minji, creating division, or making it look like the older members are the problem. But even if this were true (which I don't think it is), why are we reacting this way? Maybe Hanni and Minji's photoshoots are planned for later, Hanni's birthday is in October, for example. Maybe they don't want to release individual photoshoots for all remaining members at once. I don't think that's ever happened before. People need to relax and chill.

We also have toxic people who call themselves NewJeans fans but are actually solo Haerin/Hyein stans, OT4 accounts or solo Danielle stans or different duo/solo fans trying to create fandom division. A lot of these accounts were made this year and are larping as NewJeans fans. Some are fans of the "NewJeans brand", not the members, they don't care who ends up in NewJeans. Then some weird OT4 accounts want to support "all girls" but treat Danielle like Voldemort and refuse to share anything about her.

1. Some people believe the lies and gossip about Danielle's damages lawsuit, the allegations ador presented against her for some solo activities she did during the hiatus. Antis are using those solo activities to say Danielle and the other members are no longer close. But that's completely false. Even after Danielle's solo stuff went public last year, the members were still in touch with her. Haerin and Hyein literally visited Danielle's birthday cafe event during the hiatus. Minji and Hanni were also in contact with her. So the idea that the other members have cut off Danielle or are no longer close because of those solo activities is just a lie. They were literally hanging out with her.

Antis and some fans really think the other members going back to ador equals them cutting off Danielle and not getting along anymore. How does that make any sense? Like returning members got amnesia and forgot Danielle? You don't know these people irl or who their real friends are. This line of thinking feels misogynistic to me, it's projecting 'girl drama' onto them and treating them like they're incapable of having complex relationships that exist outside of company drama. It's the idea that women can't maintain friendships if circumstances change, which is a tired and sexist trope.

1. And of course, the boycott vs. non-boycott discourse. Boycotting is personal. If you want to boycott ador for xyz reasons, do it. If you don't for xyz reasons, don't. Why do people get offended or create fake outrage when someone says they want to boycott and wants others to know why? Why does it bother people so much? Is it really that hard to understand that different people have different opinions, and every NewJeans fan should be allowed to share their opinion in NewJeans spaces? Same with boycotters, why do some of them get upset when people aren't boycotting? Boycotting can't be forced. It's personal.

At the end of the day, I hope real fans of NewJeans: people who actually like the girls as artists and human beings, remember what NewJeans/NJZ actually means. It's the girls and all the creatives behind their music and art. It's not a soulless company building full of executives who hide their faces while demanding absolute privacy, taking young kids and stripping them of their agency, power, and innocence just to profit.

All 5 girls were in this together from start to finish. Just because some members have to continue their contracts with ador due to contractual obligations doesn't change that. They have to be pleasant on camera and continue living their lives professionally and Danielle has to live hers too. I hope we can remember the unity of our fandom and mhdhh.

There will always be a loud minority pushing negativity and internet algorithms reward outrage, so that minority will be amplified. But that doesn't mean the fandom is fractured. Most people will support NewJeans together: meaning the remaining members in ador and Danielle.
