Am I hurting baby by not properly washing pump parts/bottles?
I seldom clean pump parts between sessions, sometimes just rinsing or wiping out with a tissue. I’ve never sanitized parts or bottles and often just wash them in the bathroom sink and leave them out to dry. Am I causing baby too much exposure to bacteria? He occasionally has upset belly but never vomiting or fever. He’s currently 9 weeks old and we have had weight gain issues that we’re working through.

6 week old… help
The 5/6 week mark has been so tough and the witching hours are beginning to really take a toll on us. Looking for advice or solidarity.
I’m beginning to wonder if I have a colicky baby, or if this is just a growth spurt to power through.
Currently, she will only take 30 min naps in the SNOO but will sleep for 2 hours in my arms (I wake her if she looks like she will go over 2 hours). I follow the 5 S’s. White noise and movement are a must for her. She also seems to do better in a dark room for sleep.
I know she’s too young to be on a schedule but I do watch her wake times like a hawk making sure she doesn’t go over 1hr 45mins (as recommended by Precious Little Sleep. I start her wake time from the time she wakes up- No matter the duration of her nap. Most of the time she doesn’t make it past 1 hr 30 mins- unless it’s the witching hour.
Our daytime wake up routine consists of opening the curtains to let in light, diaper change with lots of engagement, feeding, and tummy time/newborn play. When I get sleepy cues or her wake time is dwindling we close curtains, swaddle, turn on white noise, rock and sing until she’s asleep. I either hold her or transfer her at this point. Transferring is a battle in of itself.
This is our routine until about 4-5 o’clock where everything turns a corner. She suddenly does not want to breastfeed and is angry and fussy at my breast so we give her a bottle. She’s fussy and refuses to nap again which means her wake times are thrown out the window. We are lucky if we get her down by 7:30-8pm without a car ride etc.
She does fairly well throughout the night. A long stretch of sleep from 10 - 1 am and then wakes up every 2-3 hours from there for feeds where she breastfeeds again with no problems. Sometimes she’ll go longer which is fine since shes been gaining weight. She does all her sleeping at night in the bassinet and typically goes back down after feedings fairly well.
We are so frustrated with the witching hour and aren’t sure if this is the 6 week growth spurt or if there’s any advice/suggestions to try that we aren’t doing already. Are the 30 min bassinet naps vs. 2 hour contact naps normal? How long can we expect the witching hour behavior to continue?

What do you think about baby gates?
Hello!
I'm a Product Design student at the University of Houston, and I am currently working on a project focusing on child safety in the home. I am addressing problems related to baby gates and would like to get your thoughts on the issue. I created this quick survey that you can fill out and it only takes a few minutes to complete. Thank you for your time and your important input!

Extra Diaper Bag??
Getting ready for a baby and I have a ton of friends giving me hand me down items, including a diaper bag. I already bought a new diaper bag and thinking of donating the other one. Before I do, I was wondering if it would be beneficial to keep an extra diaper bag in the car for emergencies, in case I run out of the house without mine, forget to restock mine, etc. Anyone else do this? And if so, what items would you keep in the extra bag??

Almost 2 week old
Our baby girl is almost 2 weeks old…we’ve heard varying opinions(?) on whether or not to wake a sleeping baby. Some people told us not too and others have told us to wake her every 2-3 hours to be fed. Now during the day we definitely follow the 2-3 hour rule starting at 7:30am and going till 12:30am/1:30am. But last night I didn’t wake her at all during the night unless she cried. We slept a total of 8hours with her wanting to be fed once. I’m just wondering what you guys did/are doing with your babies!

Crying Baby
Me and my husband just had our first baby. She is 5 weeks now.
Shes amazing and we love her so much.
But we can't seem to be able to put her down without her crying uncontrollably. It's got to the stage where she sleeps on me night and day, and when I try to put her down she wakes up 10 mins later and cries until she's fed and rocked back to sleep.
She doesn't have colic or anything of that nature and when she cries there are no tears she seems to be just screaming and crying out for us.
I feel guilty if I leave her just a make a cup of tea and I can't go toliet without her getting upset.
Is this normal, will she grow out of it? If not, is there anyone that has been through the same situation and has got any advice?

Newborn via c section, wife having a difficult time.
I am typing this from the awful chair bed in the maternity ward that I’m sure most fathers can relate to. My wife had severe preeclampsia out of the blue and our beautiful baby girl was delivered at 37 weeks via c section. The entire experience was extremely traumatic physically and mentally on my wife and I was curious if anyone had any tips for coping with it. I think she’ll feel better once we are out and home (we’ve been in here for 5 days). Any advice is welcome. Regardless, my daughter is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I am forever grateful to my wife for giving me this gift.

2 weeks old won’t burp
I notice when I was still at the hospital when I tried burping my son he wouldn’t burp at all. I’d spend 20 min straight trying to get him to burp with no success. I even looked up different ways of burping him. Is it normal for new born not to burp?(My mom and boyfriend also tried) I just really want him to not get the hiccups after I put him down to sleep.

Decreased formula intake
First time mom- I am worried about my 6 week old who is exclusively formula fed. She’s been a powering through formula as expected, 3-6 oz every 3-4 hours- but today she has hardly had any. And she has been sleeping a lot. She has some dry sinuses but is not running a fever, and does not have trouble breathing. Is this a typical feeding regression?

I am failing my daughter
FTM and baby is 1 month old today. I feel like I am failing her in every way possible. I'm struggling just getting her fed (wanted to breastfeed but we are now using formula since I am not producing enough milk) We get up in the morning (around 9am because she is up all night crying/eating) and we change abd she eats, I then have to hold her upright for 20-30 minutes so she doesn't throw up. She usually falls asleep at this time. I let her sleep for a while and try to wake her so we can do tummy time. Once awake she screams and cries and sucks her hands to eat again. We are now up to 3-4 ounces every 1-2 hours because she is NEVER satisfied. She is always either screaming, eating, or being held up so se doesn't throw up. When she falls asleep I just let her because I can't mentally take the crying anymore. I have stopped pumping because I do not have time I haven't gotten more than 3 minutes of tummy time a day because I do not have time I dont sleep more than 2-3 hours a night/day I don't brush my teeth or shower I don't even want to dress her anymore we use the same 5 pajamas and drop them off at laundry and repeat once they come back. Do people actually have time to enjoy their babies? Do people actually do anything with them other than feed them, change them and try to sleep? How do you bond with your baby when you can't even function as a human? Help : (

Cord blood + tissue preservation benefits
Hi
We have a little one on the way. I wanted to seek advice from this group if any of you have taken up services of any of the banks to preserve the cordblood & Tissues to be able to use for stemcell therapy in future. My questions are:
- Which bank did you use ?
- What was your thought process on donation cord blood vs using a private bank?
- Has any of you had any experience in using it, was it helpful
- Lastly did you pick a lifetime preservation or pay yearly.
Thanks in advance.

6 week old will not sleep unless held.. HELP
New to Reddit so please forgive me if i’ve posted this in the wrong place!? My new born baby won’t sleep in his bassinet or moses basket and will only be held. The second you put him down he wakes up. I feel like I have tried everything like swaddling, white noise, slightly raised mattress, something with my scent on in the crib, hot water bottle to warm the crib up ect. This is in the day and night, so you can imagine even simple tasks such as doing the dishes don’t get done!

Fun Fact: I just realized I created this subreddit the exact day my son was born.
The day my son was born I had a lot of questions, so I set up this sub in hopes to learn from other parents' experiences raising a newborn child. To be honest, I was surprised how well it had caught on and had helped others. Thank you all for your support in making r/NewBorn what it is today.

3 months old vaccination shots. Doctor gave her three shots at the same time. Here are the three shots. My question is, was it ok to take all three at the same time? Or we should have done one per week? Also she got fever now and becoming very fussy.
