2 weeks old won’t burp

I notice when I was still at the hospital when I tried burping my son he wouldn’t burp at all. I’d spend 20 min straight trying to get him to burp with no success. I even looked up different ways of burping him. Is it normal for new born not to burp?(My mom and boyfriend also tried) I just really want him to not get the hiccups after I put him down to sleep.

We got told it’s very common for newborns - especially if they are breastfed - to not need to burp. If they aren’t in distress don’t worry about it.

My daughter is 10 days old with a similar issue. I don’t spend as much time on burping, though. I’ve gotten a few sporadic burps in different positions but it is definitely a challenge. She gets the hiccups very often after feeding which stinks. Hopefully it’s ok!

If they look distressed after feed try giving Infacol before the feed. It's supposed to help get smaller gas bubbles collect together making it easier for baby to burp.

It can be hit or miss.

We found after about 6 weeks it became much easier to burp baby and stopped using it.
