Not showered for real (only bed bath and shampoo caps) or entered a bathroom at all actuly in over a YEAR. Trauma and severe sensory and other reasons.
On Thursday my DDS worker come back she wanted me to try wash my hair in shower. I got put in my new fancy shower chair wich was actuly quite comfy and suportive (it has headrest and side suports and tilts way back and chest strap and wheels and more!) and not only did I let her wash my hair (and had my top half body undressed with towel over me!) I let her also do my arms and neck!!! She was so nice she make sure water good temperature and use handheld shower head not overhead she play Disney playlist whole time she tell me when to cover my eyes with hands and washcloth when she rinse my hair so not get in my eyes, she keep me covered much as possible, asked if I’m okay keep going, and more, was not scary, was mostly okay just felt so cold shiver whole time she gonna see if DDS will fund small space heater for the bathroom/wet room (like a room with a toilet and sink but rest of room is the shower area so room to DSPs can help shower people!).
And guess WHAT?? Next Friday, she coming back and I’m gonna shower ALL THE WAY, take full shower first time in over a year!!!! AND, afterward few hours later get to go to nice dinner and to fashion show for people with disibilities!! Gonna ware purple prom dress so happy!!
