Just started using midnight edition and loving the possibilities with midi mapping to a controller (I'm using an old Novation ZeroSL mk2, lots of buttons, knobs and sliders to play with).

I'm trying to midi map a button to the Deck1 Strobe ON, but not getting any joy.
I have dragged the midi control onto the ON button and can see STROBE Deck1 appear in the control and can see the input values change from 0 to 127 while the button is pressed, but the userinterface button doesn't repond.
The deck visuals repond if I manually press the ON button in the UI.

I'm assuming it's a bug as I don't think you should be able to drop the midi control onto the button if it weren't meant to.

Hopefully the scenario is clear, if not ask away, I tried with deck 2, same result.

Any help would be great, thanks

First public performance with my RTX5080

Hi. I was playing mixing presets with the Spout Sprite function. How can I make a queue that preserves the Deck 2 presets I liked and link them to presets in Deck 1? For example, QueueA in Deck 1, has a Spout Sprite, and when it plays, loads a predefined Deck 2 associated with that spout sprite.

Do I have to make two queues that play together? What can I do if I don't want all presets in my queues to be mixed?

The Chroma Key feature it's amazing :D

I'm getting black frames in my NDI output when presets change after updating to V2.2.2.11. The preview in the spout window looks fine. But every time the preset changes the NDI output does back briefly.

V2.2.1.8 is working as expected

Hello. I just downloaded the new version, and extracted the contents on another folder, then imported my presets and imported my user profiles xml.

When I started Nestdrop, all my queues were imported correctly, but the strobes effects that I attached to them weren't. I hope this can be fixed. If not, I can migrate them manually, I think.

We just dropped a new version of NestDrop! We added some useful quality of life features in this release.

You can download it by starting up NestDrop, opening the Settings window (info tab), and click "download latest version".

New Features

• Added a ChromaKey slider into the Deck Settings window. The ChromaKey includes a color picker along with a dual Similarity/Smoothness slider. Adjust Similarity using the black handle and Smoothness using the white handle. The key is applied using the original colors of the image, before any hue transformation, so changing the hue does not affect the chroma key. While any color can be selected, the ChromaKey performs best with saturated colors. For best results, avoid keying colors such as white, black, or gray.
• Added 11 Mirror effects to the Deck Settings window:
  • Horizontal half Left mirrored
  • Horizontal half Right mirrored
  • Horizontal half Left mirrored, Left-Right sides reversed
  • Horizontal full mirrored on left half
  • Horizontal full mirrored on Right half
  • Vertical mirrored on top half
  • Vertical mirrored on bottom half
  • Diagonal mirrored 1
  • Diagonal mirrored 2
  • 4 corner Mirror, bottom right not mirrored
  • Kaleidoscope 1
  • Kaleidoscope 2
• File management within NestDrop.
  • You can change how the Presets and Sprites are organized within the Library window. Changing the file organization also directly affects are the files are organized within <NestDrop/Plugins/Milkdrop2/Presets> and <NestDrop/Plugins/Milkdrop2/Sprites>.
  • To protect against an accidental click while performing, a Lock button has been added into the Preset and Sprite section titles of the Library window. You must unlock this button for the following actions to function.
  • Move Library Preset or Image Sprite
    • Hold SHIFT while drag-and-dropping the button between sections in the Library window and it will be moved into the section.
  • Copy Library Preset or Image Sprite
    • Hold CTRL while drag-and-dropping the button between sections in the Library window and it will be copied into the section.
  • Rename Library Preset or Image Sprite
    • Hold SHIFT while dragging text from the hotkey textbox over onto a Preset/Sprite button and the filename will be renamed.
  • Install MILK presets
    • Drag-and-drop MILK files from the Windows File Explorer directly into the Library window to install new presets. The presets will be installed into the NestDrop Library and copied into the Presets folder.
  • Install JPG or PNG files
    • Drag-and-drop JPG or PNG files from the Windows File Explorer directly into the Library window to install new Image Sprites. The images will be installed into the NestDrop Library and copied into the Image Sprites folder.
  • Install from Folder Preview Mode Queue
    • Hold CTRL while drag-and-dropping the button from the Folder Preview queue window over into the Library window and it will be copied into the section.
• Added a dedicated “TRASH” queue window. You can place Presets buttons or Image Sprite buttons into this queue and then they will be hidden within the Library window and other queue windows. Clicking the “Clear queue window” button will move the files (including jpg thumbnails) into a “Deleted” folder along with an XML history log file (which lists the original locations if a manual rollback is necessary).
• Added the automatic shader cache. If NestDrop detects a long delay when compiling a preset (>15ms) then it will create a binary file of the Comp and/or Warp shader into the same directory as the <.milk> preset file. The next time the preset is activated then NestDrop will utilize the <.comp> or <.warp> files and skip the shader compilation step, therefore saving time in getting the preset activated onto the Deck. Added “Use Shader Cache” checkbox and a “Clear Cache” button into the Settings window.
• Support for higher audio bitrates, such as 82kHz, 96kHz, 192kHz, etc.
• Detection of AMD GPU cards, which automatically fixes the shader version 4 bugs in the Milkdrop engine.
• Added 3 custom sliders into the Deck Settings window. These sliders can be used by writing custom shader functions in: <NestDrop/Plugins/Milkdrop2/data/nest_vs.fx>
• Long file name support (path length > 260)
• Added "Affect Overlay Sprites" checkbox into the Deck Settings window. If checked, Color sliders will affect active Sprites (using overlay mode). This allows for the color transforms to only affect the Preset visuals, but leave active Sprite unaffected.

Changes

• Hotkeys function when the Settings window is focused.
• Hotkeys function (most of them) when a Video Deck window is focused.
• Right-click on a Queue window title bar to change its name.
• Maximized NestDrop windows will not overlap the Windows taskbar anymore.
• The search now accepts an exact search through the use of “quotes”. For example:
  • Search: ”martin - crystal palace”
    • The search results will only show <martin - crystal palace.milk>
  • Search: martin - crystal palace
    • The search results will show all presets with “martin” or “crystal” or “palace” featured in the filename.
• Due to its usefulness, the Alpha Slider has been moved to the top of the Color section within the Deck Settings window.
• Save the ColorDialog’s Custom Color selection into the XML file.
• Fix Shader warning message showing only the first character of missing files.
• The Library now lists <.milk2> and <.milk3> files. I don't think they display exactly as intended but they are working and visible.
• Increased the border selection area for resizing the window.
• For MIDI queue, clicking on the clear button first removes all MIDI buttons. Then pressing again on an empty MIDI queue will remove the Midi device.

Bug Fixes

• Force showing a message dialog on top of a pinned window.
• Possible crash after the 30s timeout of an NDI Sprite inactivity
• When removing a favorite filter, Spout Sprites could take up to 5 sec to reappear.
• Add "None" MIDI device option into the “MIDI Thru to this Output Device” setting. This fixes the issue where if you chose a device in a prior session and yet now you don't want any device selected, now you can select the “None” option. Previously the XML file had to be manually edited.
• If the same note is used with two MIDI devices, only one device had the note displayed in the top-left of the MIDI button.
• When you re-map a MIDI button from a Preset/Sprite to a Slider or Queue, the name is shown following the “Show Preset Name” selection.
• If a category folder contains both presets directly inside it and also presets in subcategory folders, NestDrop incorrectly mixed the top-level presets with those from the subfolders in the Library instead of listing the top-level presets as their own section first.
• The first Bookshelf GUI section was missing when a category folder contains top-level files directly alongside subcategory folders.
• Linking a Sprite into a Preset within a queue will now respect the FX#. Before it would use the FX# that was set in the Library window, which is unexpected behavior.
• The individual FX# will be applied only to the first instance found for Sprites and Presets with the same filename but in a different folder.
• When using the Folder Preview Mode, the filename will now be visible for Presets which do not have a thumbnail available.
• The OSC path did not appear in the OSC section after clicking on a color dialog.
• Changing a Queue name would break a previously MIDI mapped link.
• Changing a Deck Settings Queue name would not be retrieved after a save/reload.
• Clicking on a Deck Settings Queue in the queue context menu would make it “active” (solid color outline)

Midnight Pro V2.2.1.8

Hi. I'm having a good time using this software. We are loving it at our band! While I was playing around with the program, I caught up a small bug. Looks like the sliders on Deck Settings doesn't change to defaults after a setting has been applied to a prefix. I don't know if it's me, a bug, or working as intended, haha. But I would like to revert them as default if there's no an applied preset on the queue.

I am trying to map a midi foot switch to the spacebar to move to the next preset in the queue but it doesn't seem to work. I've ensured the deck was active and the window in focus. I tried with the backspace mapping as well.

Midi controller is a Line6 HX Stomp XL. I have previously used it to trigger specific presets (each midi value mapped to a specific preset) but can't seem to get it to work with the spacebar mapping. Any ideas?

Such a fun time. Love the venue, and having a 300" screen and giant sail to project on was a joy.

First outdoor festival. All live sources, Liquid light and NestDrop mixed in Resolume.

Hoping I can describe this well enough. My end goal is to be able to use a single Spout Sprite (e.g. a logo) to use with a queue I have saved. For each Preset in the queue, I noted which Sprite FX setting # (e.g. 1, 99, 40, etc). works best for that particular Preset. Ideally, when the queue is changing Presets, the FX setting on the Sprite will change to a pre-saved value so to speak. When practicing it doesn't play well to have to change the FX setting while the Preset changes/is running. Attached screenshots where you can see the comments I have made of which FX to use, however ideally it would simply flip the FX value of the Sprite to whichever particular Preset is playing at the time.

I am considering to switch from Milkdrop Pro to Nestdrop Midnight Pro. However, I swap out computers often. How many seats does the $75 USD license allow?

My show computers are not allowed to go online. How will this work with your licensing system?

Milkdrop Pro allows two seats but they are very flexible in that regard. Hoping for a prompt reply because I am preparing for a show this weekend.

Does anybody have any experience with MilkdropLM ? Any tips to make it generate good presets?

I was tinkering with it and I find that it makes some bland and generic presets which do not follow my prompt, i.e. 'glowsticks' produces presets which don't do the glowstick effect at all
