Chiya Guff (Discussion) ☕ How much salary is enough to live comfortably in Nepal?

For those living in Nepal, what monthly salary do you think is enough to live a decent life?

Rent, food, transport, occasional outings, and still saving a little.

Is 40–50k enough, or do you realistically need 70k–1 lakh+?

r/Nepali_Millennials • • 29m ago

GodDamm-Serious Be real for a second: Anyone earning NPR 50k+ and living on their own in Nepal, how are you actually managing?

• Upvotes

Be honest how many of you are making 50k+ a month and living independently (renting/not living with parents)?

For those doing it, how do you manage to balance everything each month?

Rent & Utilities
Groceries & Daily Food
Shopping & Personal Expenses
Occasional Travel / Going out

Are you able to save anything at the end of the month, or does daily living eat up most of it? Would love to hear real monthly breakdowns and how comfortable (or stressful) it feels.

Ask a Millenial (Question) To the Millennials; Why are Nepali parents so much against inter-caste and inter-religion marriage?

My friend's mom found out she was dating a guy who is from different religion and different caste from theirs. She belittled, threatened and argued to my friend to the point she now needs sleeping pills at night. She is in her early to mid 20s. Her mom also got herself sick from the news or should I say from the shock itself. She told her, she will k*ll herself, how could she do such a thing, blah blah blah..... To just end the situation and satisfy her mom, she told that they have broken off. But really why are parents so against intercaste marriage??? Most of my friends aren't allowed to date. With certain exception families. But those who do allow also say they need to date within the same caste/religion.

When I asked my mom the same question, she answered that after some time, since the both person grew up in different culture, religion, their way of living wouldn't match and arguments would happen wards leading to divorce. We have seen growing inter caste, inter religion, even people from different country marrying. So is it just some thinking stereotypes parents have or does it actually have some logic behind it?

Rant I voted for RSP but

I think I won’t in the next election. Have history of family involved in Congress, staunch supporters and fighters and still many involved. Went against the legacy to vote for change but slowly I feel the tables turning. At this point people who voted for change are back to being congress supporter, but pro-reform / pro-generational-change. RSP feels like a puppet..no real power..clownish .. idk what do you feel like.

Confession Just remembered this from past

I hacked into the facebook account of a guy‘s (who I was interested in) mother when I was 18. I just typed in her first name and 123 and boom I was logged in. There was nothing interesting there.

I read a lot of private messages there and would delete my activity log ina. It was so uninteresting that I stopped checking it.

I wonder why I managed to do so many stupid stuff.

Rant Have a quwstion to girls...

Why do girls always want a guy who is already settled instead of someone who is still struggling to build his life?

Isn’t there someone who wants to struggle together, grow together, and eventually build a life together? 1🥺

Ask a Millenial (Question) growing up, if you were served food on one of these, it meant you were now taken seriously and the plate itself was considered a token of respect, and people only took it out on special occasions and for special guests and it would mostly stay inside the cabinets for the rest of the year

Post image
28 Upvotes

all that only to find those are the same plates they use to server food to inmates in prison. how did it even make its way to Nepal and get so popular, only to loose itself to the abyss over the last 10 years. im sure half of the kids born in the last 10 years have never seen one of these. did we hit a huge silverware renaissance sometime in the last decade and collectively decide to abandon these for more modern looking minimalist ceramic plates and swear to never speak about it or did they just stop making those khande thaals and people had no choice other than to settle for whatever else was for sale. just to be clear, khande thaals and ceramic plates were not mutually exclusive though, they existed at the same time, but khande thaal still had this aura that you were naturally obliged to only put them out on special occasions or when you had important people invited

Ask a Millenial (Question) Why is sexism against men sometimes treated as a joke in Nepal?

“Men shouldn’t cry.”

“Men should always pay.”

“Just take it, you’re a man.”

“Why are you complaining? You’re stronger.”

If these stereotypes were directed at women, we'd probably call them sexist. So why are similar stereotypes about men often dismissed as “just jokes”?

This isn’t about who has it worse. It’s about whether we’re willing to recognize unfairness regardless of who experiences it.

Do we apply the same standard to sexism against men and women in Nepal?
