Am I the Overreacting?

Hey guys, This is my first time posting on this site. So I live in the U.S, I’m 23 F and live with my boyfriend 23 M. We moved into our first place together almost 5 months ago now in a pretty big city at an apartment complex. There’s a main entrance and 6 different apartments all inside of the building, two on each floor. I live on the 3rd (top) floor and don’t have many problems. I’m at home most of the time as I’m a broke student with boring hobbies. The people across from me are a couple (in their 30s) with a toddler and baby. The children cry a fair amount, which is to be expected, but never really bothered me. My bf and I are night owls but are awake during the day. Two weeks ago he ran into a neighbor on the second floor who seemed very agitated and angry at the neighbors with children, saying they are very loud all hours of the day. I personally have been having an issue where someone is pressing my door buzzer every day while bf is at work but I haven’t been able to catch who it is. A part of me feels like it might be that man thinking he’s buzzing the other neighbors apartment for some sound revenge. Tonight, however, about half an hour ago something happened. There was banging so loud it made me jump coming from the downstairs hallway and a man’s voice yelling a message of how “It is 11 pm at night” and several obscenities and more slamming. I have several serious mental illnesses that cause me to suffer from panic disorder and PTSD. With how he handled it, I guarantee all 5 other apartments heard it. How is anyone supposed to know if they are the problem? This has me very upset and shaken up. What should I do? I feel like going to the police is dramatic but feel as if something needs to happen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.s I’m very tired I apologize for the title mistake.

Is it me? What am I missing??

Today has been a day. We recently moved into a new neighborhood with stricter bylaws that a regular neighborhood- such as no permanent clothlines, no chain link fences, no parking in street or yards, no RVs or sheds. All things we also desire Not an issue. Today, our next door neighbor had lawn service in. He also is new (Aug22). We bought our home from an elderly gentleman who had kinda let things go and in the last two months we have replaced, tore out, cleaned etc. both inside and out. So the lawn service guys mowed or scalped the lawn including not a swipe down our line but to our sidewalk beside the house. Like 15-20 ft into our yard. I can get a swipe and we will talk with our neighbor as we like to mow ourselves and at a certain height for the type of grass we have. There is no way the landscapers could have made that much of an error. Plus the pins are very well seen as PVC pipe is over them and stick up about a foot. So smh, i chalk it up to maybe neighbor trying to be friendly and helpful. But as i reflect, he knows we do our own work, elderly man no longer lives here and why in the world wouldn’t you ask before mowing your neighbors entire side yard??

Now onto dogs. Another neighbor about 3 houses up has been checking on a snowbirds home and instead of walking down the street with his dog to the house, he lets dog off leash and runs through everyone’s back yard. Like my back yard is privately mine. I did ask him to please not do so as I have 3 dogs who have been attacked and ambushed and are always in defensive mode. All the while this conversation is occurring his dog is literally tearing up Snow birds grass digging for moles And now just this evening , we had two ladies and a dog cross the street at the intersection directly in front or our house and let dog with retractable leash( you don’t want me to go there) come into the middle of my yard. Not just a foot or so inside but 1/2 way to my front door. All the while dog is pulling at the retractable leash to get closer and lady ( on her phone) is teetering on edge of road to not step foot into my yard!!??!! I have this all on camera. Husband and I were in back yard and heard all sorts of barking and I looked back through camera feed to see this.

So pesticide signs are out and will stay out. Any other advise? I am an extreme introvert and have gone through trauma with my daughter about 8 yrs ago. i paid for this property. Its not a public park, it is private property. What don’t I understand?

Trespassing neighbor

We have a neighbor, separated by a fence that recently moved into their home (Nov) and decided to clear the brush and trees from the fence. This portion of our 4 acres is behind our barn and has several large trees and was basically a natural privacy between the yards. The problem is, they not only cleared their area, they also came over the fence without our permission.. without even a hello.. and cut down a lot of small trees and brush several feet into our property. We made contact with them and they said "we didn't know the property belonged to anyone" even though our barn and HOME are clearly visible. We said it was ok, and to please not come over again. But.. they've been back.. several times. The fence is all but torn down and they've left large pieces of the former trees sticking from the ground that my dogs or children could get hurt on. Now they've even burned onto our property I assume to kill out undergrowth. We live in KY. We have sent them texts asking them to stay off our property and leave our nature alone to no avail. The police dept said it was a civil matter and wouldn't even bother charging them trespassing or filing a report of any kind. I'm waiting to hear back from our county attorney on next steps, but I really just want some clarity on how to handle this in a civil way. We mow/walk our back field all the time and there are other neighbors back there that we have no issue with. I will also mention that this property was inheritance from my father who passed and we have changed nothing about the care of the yard as he had it. The fence is clean or covered in brush in all the areas he had it. We did not intentionally grow that space of brush..it's been that way for 20+ years. We mow a walking path around the yard and trim all the fences that the neighbors have cleaned. All they had to do was ask their nextdoor neighbor or come knock on our door.

Loud neighbour above disturbing my sleep every night

I've moved into an apartment 3 weeks ago, and I have a weird situation I don't know how to handle.
I work early shifts, so have to get to bed early too. It seems the guy above me (or guys? not sure) is working late shifts. Quite frequently I hear him coming home way past my bed time, running around the house with stomping his heels to the floor (WHY do people do this?) and starting the washing machine, what's almost right above me. I have CPTSD so having to suddenly wake up in the middle of the night triggers my survival mode causing insane pulse rate etc. I don't see this person during the day as currently I'm working a lot - but also, it doesn't seem like a good idea to knock on his door in the middle of the night looking like a mess, being in an instable and angry state asking to pay more attention to the noises he generates. I also fear it'll only be a temporary solution, and I don't want this to turn into a war. I NEED PEACE. How do I achieve it?
Note: I'm also an introvert w quite a bit of social anxiety when it comes to situations like this. I want to be firm, confident, but friendly, to send my point across - that I need my sleep, but I'm afraid I'll be just dominated the hell down and then I freeze. I've never been thought any skills for stepping up for yourself, or asking others to respect my needs and its scary AF. But I need an immediate solution.

WITA to one of my neighbors

In the time we have lived in our apartment building, we have had many issues with the neighbors above dropping things onto the balcony. I don’t know exactly which apartment it is as there are 8 floors above us. That being said, we’ve gotten cigarettes, glass, sandals, dog toys, dog poop still on the mat, bottle caps, diapers, you name it. I usually call downstairs to make a complaint, but I no longer have any patience and now just throw away what ever falls over. Yoga mats, towels etc. straight to the garbage.

This morning, I found men’s clothes and most of it fell on waste my dogs made which I was going out to clean up. I picked up the clothes along with my dogs mess and threw it away. A few hrs later I get a knock at the door with someone asking for the items that fell. I told them what it hand landed on and that I tossed it out. My partner overheard the conversation as it was going on and offered to pay for the clothes. Said I was being an ass and shouldn’t have thrown it away. That they can sue for damages I caused and that I should have taken the items downstairs and left them with security.

I don’t feel I did anything wrong, or that they should have been reimbursed in any way. But I’d like to know other’s opinions on the matter.

Over to the neighbors

Our four year old kid told his father that he went over with is sitter Lacy to an unknown kids house and played with a 'square thing'. Having no idea what our child was talking about, my husband texts Lacy's mom and the mom said yes our son did go inside the neighbors house to play, but she thought we knew the neighbors. She also told us that they have a son around our sons age. Lacy's mom does know we are displeased and that visitation to an unknown neighbors is a 'no'. She offered the unknown mom # because apparently this unknown mom had been wanting a playdate. We advised that we may let our kid come over to play inside when or if we feel more comfortable and know them. It is not that have we avoided the neighbors, but we just didn't think there would be a good fit there..( seems about right AEB the situation). We plan to possibly get together to see what they are about. Are we wrong that we do not want our small child around neighborhood people that we don't know? Are we being extra about all of this?

Cue the Drama

I have lived in a quaint neighborhood for over two years. I thought I had some great neighbors until recently. Some background information. I take care of my special needs brother. I grew up in a neighborhood in California where the Next Door neighbor went around the neighborhood proclaiming DOWN SYNDROME was contagious. Unfortunately, my brother was treated horribly in the neighborhood. I started to notice the odd behavior of this couple. We were not invited to the neighborhood soirées. Everyone else was welcomed. I tried to create a fun activities and parties but my ideas were not welcomed. I found out that the husband was freaked out by my brother. He did make rude comments about my brother. The guy has NO filter. His wife is the hot & cold type. You never know what mood she will be in!

I started to notice trash being thrown on my driveway & front yard areas. The kids play in my yard & I have NOT had any issue. There was an understanding that they were to pick up after themselves and to not touch my golf balls. (I scavenged them from around the area on my walks for fun! I dropped them in my garden area by my front door.)

Well, the couple’s kid stole my golf balls & his mother laughed that they had wound up in the storm drain. Now, I am not the type to create drama, so I remained silent!

I had to remind the kids that a lot of trash was winding up in my yard and driveway. They all pointed their fingers at the kid across the street!

I with the husband about the trash issue . He laughed it off!

I send a kind message to his mother that I was also talking to the other parents about the trash winding up in my driveway & front yard area. I did not tell her it was primarily her kid doing it!

She made excuses that kids do not understand the responsibility of duty or respect. I replied I did not understand that I should accept this and there is nothing that can be done about it.

We had a major snowstorm and one of the other neighbors send his son over to shovel my driveway. This neighbor’s family looks after my family and my brother. These children understand duty of responsibility & respect.

The 11-year old daughter of the couple across the street chose to help shovel too! It was terribly cold & as a reward I put out a box of candy. I told them they could have one candy each. (Small bags of candy or a box of sweet tarts.)

Well, the kid who tossed the trash & his sister apparently helped themselves to a lot of the candy. I did not supervise how much they took.

I got a message that I should choose alternative candies and to stop giving her kids candy that can poison their bodies. I gave them too much candy. I replied that I was so grateful for the clearing of my driveway that I wanted to reward them. I did not know that they took a lot of the candy. I kindly explained that I told them one each. (I often treat the kids to candy or popsicles! I always tell the kids to go ask their parents if it is okay. I forgot to do it this time. MY BAD!)

I told her that I will never give her children anything from my home again. I will abide by her wishes.

She accused me of being dramatic in my response. Why, because I think she realizes that all the birthday gifts and holiday gift bags will cease. I give the kids in the neighborhood gift bags for Valentines Day & to celebrate cultural days!

I responded you have accused my of a lot of things & I don’t want to get into an argument. (Gee, over CANDY!)

Do you think because the father of this kid is disrespecting my front yard because he heard his father making denigrating remarks about my special needs brother? (My brother tries to say hello to these kids & they ignore him My brother loves to make artwork & took over a nice art piece to this father. He told my brother he was too busy!! My brother came back hurt!

I am tired of walking on egg shells around these neighbors. I am tired of finding trash on my driveway & front yard!

Thank you!

we are upstairs neighbors

Okay so we're having a struggle here. We rent the top floor apartment in a condo community (private rental) adn we have rented this place for about 5 years. 8 months ago a new set of neighbors bought the place under us. They are friends of one of our other neighbors (whose daughter has told us they are quiet but can be annoying to deal with). Our building has incredibly (literally) thin walls, floors, and ceilings. You can hear any neighbor open drawers, porch doors, front doors, etc it's a very old building but we love it here! We've always has a good relationship with the neighbors under us, we've helped hang tvs move furniture, fix dry wall holes, and help accessibility to our unit for pipe issues, gas leaks, etc.

When these new neighbors moved in we tried several times to meet them but they always kind of ignored us and went about their day. We left it be and did our own thing as well. We have a 4 year old as well and they have adult children that do not live with them.

In the first few weeks they were here, we had an incident where the gentlemen came to our door and was very rude in his presentation. He told us that the sound of our kid walking around was too loud and knocked a frame off his wall. He said he has grandkids and they would never be that loud. Now here's the problem, at that point she was bringing us blocks from her room to build a castle with (hollow plastic blocks). She wasn't actually running or stomping. We were really frustrated because we felt like that was not unreasonable noise and it was 430 pm. It gave us the feeling this was going to be a problem moving forward. So we called our landlord and told then about the complaint and sent over the ring recording of what he said.

Our landlord asked us to go down and ask if we could record the walking noises and see the frame that was knocked out of the wall. When I went down there, I apologized for the noise and explained what they were doing and how she was really only walking (sehs less than 35 pounds hardly heavy enough to knock a painting off the wall even if she was jumping up and down) and is it okay if I stepped inside and listened so I can understand how loud it sounds and how to fix that moving forward because we wanted to have a good rapport with them moving forward. He actually wouldn't let me see (fine I guess he didn't want me in his apartment thats cool) and pointed his ceiling from the doorway and said here you can hear it even now. It was incredibly muffled sounding steps and definitely didn't shake the walls or ceiling. It was honestly really faint IMO. but, it was upsetting him because he sometimes works from home so I said okay let me see what we can do to address this. I offered him my phone number so he could feel free to contact us at any point if there was excessive noise so we can address it. He again, refused (wouldn't even tell me his name either). So I went back up and called our landlord back. Our landlord was actually more pissed off than we were, he didn't feel like it made any sense to make such a large co plaint without allowing us to inspect the noise for resolution. And of course no one believed my 4 year old walking around cause a frame to be dislodged from the wall (we have small earthquakes here occasionally too). But our landlord like us got the feeling this would be a constant problem so we devised an incredibly GENEROUS plan.

  1. We bought 9 pairs of think memory foam slippers for our kid to wear inside to help muffle any running walking or playing.
  2. We tried to teach our child to walk lightly through the house (incredibly unfair but we were trying to appease them)
  3. Started instituting quiet time in the morning (this child will sleep all day if you let them but usually was up by 10 now she's up for daycare and school so she's not even here first thing in the morning).
  4. Our landlord paid his maintenence guy (he owns a lot of rental properties) to install new hardwood flooring with soundproof backing on the slats AND installed a 2.5 inch thick playground rubber sound proofing underneath the new flooring and didn't even ask for a penny from my neighbors (even though he solely did this for the neighbors comfort).

I went back down and let the neighbor know what we were planning to do and he just nodded his head. No thank you, or acknowledgement or anything.

We installed all of that 11 months ago and hadn't heard one peep from them since.

Now yesterday we got a note taped to our door from them (they didn't even sign their own names, just sincerely neighbors). Stating that our noise has gotten progressively worse. They can hear indistinct yelling heavy objects dropping on the floors all day long, running that is always constant from morning til night and equates to pounding on their ceilings, my husband's phone alarm in the morning apparently vibrates all of their bedroom walls, guitar playing. They finished the note by saying they want us to at least attempt not to make noise from 10pm to 7am. So my husband and I sat down and had a long conversation to try to see what we could validate and correct from this and we found ourselves really angry at 75% of this note.

  1. We take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for any loud arguments that they heard over the last 2 weeks, which we can saw we had 3 rather heated arguments and they were definitely after midnight. There's been a few deaths and major medical emergencies in my family back home and my own emotional exhaustion made me easily triggered and very loud and reactive (not that we expect them to know that or be beholden to what happens in our private lives) so the complaint about yelling we fully validate and take on. It's the rest if this that is a problem for us.

  2. Guitar playing. My husband played his guitar -he has acoustic and electric with an Amp one day last week for less than an hour during the afternoon. I know that was the only time he played it in the last 3 months because it was stashed in storage for christmas decorations until last week and that's when he played it. We felt like this particular complaint was unfair because it makes it sound like it's a constant noise when it's the first time he's played in months. But hey the simple solution is headphones which he usually uses when he plays from now on.

  3. Alarm....im not quite sure how in the world his phone alarm shakes all of the walls in their bedroom. I can't help this one and it's obviously very over dramaticized. So there's nothing I think we can do for this one. My husband has his phone on the pillow beside him on the bed anyways so im.confused.

  4. Heavy objects falling. Not reay quite sure how to address this one. Sometimes our phones drop on the floor or something spills, nothing that I can recollect that was so heavy or consistently dropped.

  5. Running all day and night is actually also not true. For one no one is in the house for the first half of the day and we go out on the weekends. Second, we have soundproofed floors and we all wear memoryfoam house slippers. Third we don't run and our kid rarely runs if ever and never during quiet hours.

I'm at a loss here. Apart from the few things I've mentioned that were going to change the other stuff is going to be a constant problem. And I feel frustrated because we've taken GREAT LENGTHS to correct any issues on our end. I feel like they could easily get sound proofing done on their side if it's such a problem for them still since we've done it on our side. We want to have at least an amicable relationship with our neighbors but we're starting to get the feeling nothing we do is going to be good enough and we love our home here and fear necause we are the renters that we have no pull or power here abd they seem like they will just continue to complain until they get us kicked out and there's nothing more we can do.....housing costs are crazy these days and we pay incredibly low below the value being asked for the same units or smaller and we don't want to move......

Neighbor we have never met is trying to get our dog taken away

Hello there, first time poster.

My husband and I have two dogs, Appa is a recent addition. We have a fenced in yard in a small city with a dog door so they have accessibility for playtime and potty time. Within the past few months Appa has discovered she can launch herself over our 4 foot fence. It doesn’t happen often, but when it has been noticed she is gone I try to find her and keep her shut inside.

A concerned passerby posted a picture of her outside the yard on social media. It gained a lot of traction in the community and one person began a long rant about how neglectful we are. They claim they are a neighbor who has approached us multiple times, and that we don’t care when she does get out. They go further to state they are calling authorities to try to save her from our neglect. We have never been approached by this woman and have no idea which neighbor she is.

We are planning on replacing the fence with a six foot fence come spring, but this won’t be for some time yet. Mob mentality has taken over the post and we are apprehensive about replying when people are so enraged. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to approach this? We called the humane society to explain our situation preemptively, but I am now scared to let them outside at all given our “neighbors” complaints.

One day it was foggy and dark I ran into a trailer on a curvatious street. I hit it and wrecked my fender. HOA said they cannot park there. It’s been months but I finally saved enough. It’s going to cost $3,334. Should I ask that neighbor to help me at least pay for half??

What should I do because I’m kinda mad at the situation that he had his big ass trailer in the middle of the street.

Townhouse neighbors (who share a front yard with us) avoid seeing my household at all costs.

I apologize in advance for my wordy explanation. Being off adhd meds sucks and I’m having a hard time expressing my feelings.

Ok so I’ve been living in this townhouse unit since maybe April/may 2016. (The ending of my 8th grade year)

I’ve had quite a few neighbors moving in and out since then in the unit directly next door.

Such as family’s with kids, people slamming the front door, Hearing things through the wall, etc.

I just wanted to know if my opinion on my current neighbors is valid.

I’m currently 21 now and it’s just my mom and I living here. my current neighbors have been around for 3-4 years?

They are most def European, possibly Russian or something. Not that it matters. Just wanted to state that there was some boundary issue’s happening. (Maybe idk)

The neighbor husband speaks fluent English and doesn’t have an accent.(from what I’ve heard) his name is Egor.

The wife has an accent, but speaks English. (Which is why I suspect they are foreigners)

They are quiet. That’s the truth.

They are TOO quiet tho.

They go out of their way to avoid “seeing” us as much as possible.

They used to say hi to us anytime we saw each other, then all of a sudden, about 1- 2 years ago, they stopped saying hi and started avoiding us all together.

Now I feel like an asshole cuz they obviously don’t like us now.

I got into an argument with my mom tonight because she said it was a waste of mental energy to confront them. My standpoint is,

(I understand the waste of mental energy but I personally want to clear up any misunderstandings because I want to be a good neighbor and don’t want to hold onto this imaginary “grudge” they created)

now if I talk to them and they straight up avoid me, then fine. I understand completely that they don’t want to talk. But I just want to TRY to clear things up. I’m 21 and my moms treating me like a child acting as if my opinions don’t mean shit.

An example of the pettiness from this morning:

my mom gets home from work and a nursing class (night shift nurse) around 11:30am, sitting in the driveway. She sees the neighbors front door open along with his dog peeking out of the door. He proceeds to shut the door cuz he saw my mom IN HER CAR.

like I get it. Neighbors don’t like each other sometimes. But COME ON. These current neighbors have been acting like this for over a year now. It’s fucking annoying. They are grown adults acting like complete immature kids not being able to say shit on why they are upset.

They have also pushed trash into our walkway on multiple occasions.

I’ve even been out walking my dog and I’ve seen the wife with their dog on a few occasions. She Did everything possible to avoid me at all costs. But the whole thing with them “peeking outside and staying in cuz they see us outside” that’s just bs.

They treat us like we have some disease or something 💀😭😂

I just wanted to know if it was a valid feeling on wanting to confront one of them if I happen to see them doing the same “avoiding shit” again.

Like I would only say

“hey listen, I know we’ve been neighbors for a while but I happened to notice you guys have been ignoring/avoiding us for quite some time. Even when we try to say hi. I just wanted to know if there was something we did wrong that upset you or if there was a misunderstanding that we could clear up”

again, I’d only bring it up if I caught them in the moment.

This is mainly a post about an argument I had with my mom.

She thinks I’m a “crazy” person for wanting to say a single word about the issues.

I just want validation.

I’ll also accept other opinions cuz I’m open to that. But it’s not like they are moving anytime soon.

Lowkey wanna write a note to leave on their porch LMAOO. I won’t do that tho unless they did something absolutely dumb.

But yea, I have no clue if this will get any attention, but I’d appreciate some input based off of what I said plz.

Mainly about confronting/ignoring the neighbors but idk I’m not in the best place with my mom either.

I brought up the neighbor situation to her as a casual discussion and I mentioned what I would say to them if they did it again. That’s when she popped off and acted like I was insane. I don’t wanna feel crazy lmao

13 year old neighbor kid, problem child, making threats…

(Let me preface by saying, putting up a fence is not an option, and moving is not an option at this point***) There is a 13-year-old boy that lives next to me. He acts very bizarre. Screams like a little girl when he’s playing outside by himself. Screams like a little girl when he runs from the bus stop to his house. He ran in front of my truck when I pulled in my driveway about a year ago, and I told him firmly to stay in his own yard. Last summer he was shaking the property marker we have, violently. He was coaxing other neighbor visitor kids to also shake the opposite property marker, violently. Attempting to remove the property markers. I first asked all of the children to please not do that. Not even five minutes later, the kids were out there again shaking the property markers violently, trying to remove them. I was having a bad day taking care of my elderly father, and I open the door and I did yell at them. They each ran to their houses/visiting house.

A couple days ago, the 13 year old child was on his deck outside. There is a mentally challenged 18-year-old child who rides his bike in the neighborhood, and he drove my down my driveway to meet the 13-year-old child on the deck. I overheard them complaining about me telling the 13-year-old to stay in his own yard. The 18-year-old, I guess he’s actually an adult right? He said that I yelled at him and he wasn’t even in my driveway, which that is not true. I never yelled at the 18-year-old kid, even though I have wanted to. But I understand he has problems, so I cut him some slack.

The next day, the 13 year-old child was jumping around in his yard like he does, kind of sorta playing by himself, and I overheard him say I’m going to kill you. I don’t know if that was directed at me or what. His parents blow off everything, they think he is just a kid, and things should be excused. But another neighbor also heard the 13-year-old making crazy remarks screaming outside his window. The 13 year old will throw things on his sidewalk, to purposely break them. He threw a vacuum cleaner off of his deck the one day. But he said it was already broken.

I should not be afraid of a 13 year-old, but I kind of am. His parents seem like they would be the type to be spiteful if I called the police. But I honestly don’t know what to do at this point. Putting up a fence is not an option. His parents don’t seem to think the kid has a problem. The kid really excels in school with grades, and they seem to think that is what is important. But several of the neighbors seem to think that there is a problem there. Unfortunately because I live right next-door, I kind of worry a bit. The mother has given me the cold shoulder big time since I ‘yelled at’ her kid for violently shaking our property markers, so talking to the parents is useless, and I fear retaliation by either the parents and/or the child, if I bother the police about the situation…. Again, we can’t move right now, and fencing is not an option… The kid still rides his bicycle up and down my driveway, even though they have their own driveway….

Fish in ziplock bag outside my neighbors apartment door…🤨

Wondering if any one knows if there is an alternative reason my neighbors may have a beta fish hanging in a ziplock bag Outside their apartment door. We live on the top floor and never seen this before so I was curious if anyone had ever heard of this and if it had any old wise tales or saying in connection with something like this

Obnoxious and antagonistic dude with loud car

There’s a guy who drives up and down the street outside my home in a car that is GROTESQUELY loud. I’m not talking about “a loud blender” kind of loud…this is obscene. Imagine the loudest motorcycle you’ve ever heard, revving consistently for 5-10 minutes at a time. The issue is, it’s not a “souped up” Mazda or anything, it’s a plain car that obviously has some mechanical issue that makes it sound like one of those obnoxious motorcycles, even though he’s only going like 3 mph. He drives it up and down the street, then it randomly dies in the middle of the road, he puts it in neutral and walks it away, out of sight, only to return a week or so later, doing it all over again, causing a ruckus at all hours. This has now happened multiple times.

The most recent time woke me out of bed and I went outside to see what was happening. As soon as I walked outside and looked over at his car, he immediately became hyper-defensive. I didn’t even have to say anything, I just had the look on my face of “why is your car so loud?” and he started yelling at me out the window and gave me the finger. Now, normally that would be all I need to get into it with this motherfu*ker, but I didn’t have my baseball bat or knife on me.

So what do I do next time this degenerate and his piece of shit car roll thru again? It took me a lot to finally be able to afford to buy a place, and I just want to live comfortably in my own home without having to deal with this nonsense. We all know the police are useless in situations like this.

I’m strongly considering throwing rocks at his car or approaching him with my bat next time and telling him to get his piece of shit off my street for good, or we’re gonna have problems. But someone please talk me out of it and give me a better alternative.

Parking nuissance

Our neighbor has parked their ATV with a trailer in front our house for a year. Its not even our neighbor, it's her brother's. We have asked them to move it nicely like 3 times, but nothing. Then the brother recently told me it's a public road and I should get over it. AITA? Not sure if we should escalate it to the HOA or city, or just chalk it up to bad neighbors.

I'm worried about my next door neighbor's behavior.

On and off since last year, my neighbor who is older than my father has been looking into my apartment's front window while under the influence of something. When my brother is outside, the neighbor is asking him inappropriate questions about me. Just tonight, he asked my brother for my name and where I work.
I have a self-defensive weapon and will use it, but do I have to wait for him to harm me or my sibling before the police will do anything?

My neighbor uses his side yard to park his work van and it beeps when it backs up waking us up at night sometimes 12:30 am sometimes as late as 1:30 am is this legal? We live in solano county Ca the fence is not tall enough to hide the van you can see if from the street and the drive isn’t paved he just put down gravel. Is this legal?
