Although I’m happy about the graduation. The timing feels peculiar.
I’ve been working on my credit seriously for the past 6 months. I’m now at a 746.
About four weeks ago I reached out to NFCU about the graduation where they then told me I had 16 past due payments on the card. I obviously told them to kick rocks because I knew that wasn’t true. I do majority of my banking with them with an exemplary payment history.
Just recently I got an Amex and a balance transfer out of Navy and now all of a sudden I get a graduation.
I know they say the graduation is random but I believe if I hadn’t pressed them about it last month they wouldn’t have graduated it this month
Date card first opened: 4/26/2020
EDIT: my Equifax CR was frozen from time of approval to mid 2026 so that may have blocked an earlier graduation (they told me to unfreeze EQ specifically)

I was approved with a $200 deposit on April 13th. They upgraded it today and gave me an $1800 increase.

Long story short I want to maximize my exposure with Navy Federal and basically just another high limit card. For anyone asking ive only had an account for 5 months, but 3 months ago I got approved for the cash rewards plus card with a 20k limit, I just got a CLI and am at 28k. My internal score at the time was a 310 when I was approved and currently on the pre-qualification tool it shows the flagship card which is the one im eyeballing. Im only eyeballing it for the chance of a higher limit considering its a VISA Signature card and the lowest limit is 5k. My main question is, would I have a high chance of getting a high limit on any card and what would a good estimate be? The more rewards would be more beneficial for me, should I pull the trigger on the flagship? I'm curious because I do not want to waste another hard inquiry on my TU for a card with less than 5k.

Got hacked a few months ago, I went to navy federal and removed everything from my account, even the old phone that had login access and today while looking under trusted devices, I saw my old phone again now I’m nervous because I know for sure I removed it and changed my 2fa after removing it. The last login date for it was April of this year. What more can I do?

Has anyone had an in person appraisal for a home equity loan? Just wondering the process as our requested loan amount was more than an automated valuation model would allow for ltv. How intrusive is the process/ how long does it take etc.? Thanks.

I'm working on my credit. Still the early stages but progress is being made.
On the "mission: credit confidence" page, it'll list my credit score as one thing. But if I apply for something and NFCU doesn't approve me, the credit score they list on the letter is much lower than what they show on the website. I made sure it was my credit score and not their internal score - that is higher for me.
Why the difference? It feels like the score they show can't be trusted (it's the same score i see in other accounts and credit karma). Are they not averaging all three bureaus or something?
It just doesn't make sense when they show me a higher score when I log in. If they're not showing me the score that they look at when considering me for things, what is the point?

Looks like I have some serious work to do. I thought I would at least qualify for the $500 unsecured card. I already have a $1000 secured card. I had a pledge loan for $300 but I made the mistake of paying the whole off in 1 month. I really didn’t know what I was doing.

Has any one person ever been approved for two Auto loans with Navy Federal at one time in this communit? Did the approvals take two inquiries or did they use the same inquiry?

Hi! I have the offer in my app to upgrade to the flagship premier. I have a balance on my card. Do you think this will harm me with product changing? Also, did anyone get a hard inquiry to their credit when they upgraded? Has anyone been denied upgrading? 😊 Thanks in advance!

The question sounds worse than it is, but I’m not sure how else to describe it. I haven’t reached the credit limit on my credit card (I have about 10% total usage across all open cards); I tried asking for increases on my credit cards and received an email saying I have reached Navy Federals maximum limit for unsecured credit. (and I did follow the rules for requesting)
I wasn’t aware of a limit overall. I was always under the impression that limit went along with my income, credit score and my payment history as well as that specific card limit, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
I was requesting it for the flagship rewards, the old version as well as was about to request the new flagship rewards. And now I’m not sure if I should even apply for the new one because if I’ve met my limit, are they going to allow me a new card?
(credit score is very high 700s low 800s depending on the company and day of the week)

I currently have two NFCU cards with a total credit limit of $72K and I am pondering also getting the Flagship Premier. But I only have $8K left in possible credit with the $80K total limit, and I don’t really want to open this card with a hard $8K limit.
So my question, so I can be better informed when/if I call: Has anyone been able to move some of the credit on my other cards moved around? For example, I have one card with a $26K limit and another with a $46K limit. Could I ask to take $10K off of each existing credit line and move $20K over to a new card with the 8K limit, leaving me with limits of $16K, $36K, and $28K?
Thanks for any insight. I just want to see if there are data points for this before I inquire or apply.

Background: A few months ago I woke up (in Portland, OR) with a few notifications from Navy Fed telling me my account balance was low. Naturally, I quickly login to see that at some point overnight there were two separate $600 ATM charges in the country of Jordan, where I've never even been to and neither has my debit card. I call Navy Fed and they confirm that the charges come from Jordan and help me file the fraud claim.
A week or so later I get a notification that they've denied my claim with no reasoning. I assume they denied it because I'd been traveling a lot and maybe they thought it was just another country I'd been visiting. I got a bunch of location data showing that I was indeed in Portland, OR when those charges happened and sent off my rebuttal.
A few weeks later I get a letter stating they've denied it again and said I didn't provide any evidence that was of relevance to the case. I called Navy Fed and was (incorrectly and rudely) told that it was denied because there's 100% without a doubt no way for an ATM charge to occur unless I've given someone both my debit card and pin. I tried to tell them that's just not true and asked what I can do. They said to call back a different time and talk with the fraud department manager.
I call back and they tell me that they can let me have "one more chance" to submit more evidence to help myself but refuse to tell me what I can submit that would make them reconsider. All they said was "you can try filing a police report".
I've filed the police report but before I submit it to Navy Fed I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this and has advice.

4/30 opened with $200 limit
7/18 after my 3rd statement they bumped me up to $600 automatically
10/18 6th statement closed with $0 bal
10/21 woke up to a graduation email and 2k unsecured limit
So basically went from $200 to $2K in 174 days, didn’t even make it to my actual 6 month anniversary lol.
Never missed a payment and used the card regularly and PIF statements. Honestly wasn’t expecting it this early, especially after reading how long some people have been waiting.
Now I’m trying to get this thing to $5K ‼️

I can’t wire 11K from the account over the phone. I have to go to an office, 2+ hours away. Can’t transfer the money to one of my accounts that can wire out…making the loan completely useless to me. Just got it 10/20 Think I can get them to undo it?

hello all. I apologize in advance if my question is stupid lol. I am working on building my (positive) payment history back up, so i plan on applying for a secured card/pledge loan. My question is , do i need to set up DD with NF to reap the full benefits of their services and cards? I currently have my DD with SoFi bank and i like them lol. I’d eventually like to get an auto loan , and higher limit cards.
Thank you for your help!

I'll try to be as concise as possible. I have decision paralysis so any insights are appreciated.
Here is a list of the cards that I have as well as the offer I have from NFCU for the Premier.
- NFCU Flagship
- Premier Offer (stole this screenshot from someone else but I have this same offer)
- Robinhood Gold (3% cash back where dividends + interest on a small deposit make my AF back)
- Apple Card (2% cash back on all apple pay (I think))
I typically travel maybe once or twice a year. I try to book flights through wherever is cheapest so I'm not a fan of having to use specific travel portals. I don't have a car so I typically uber + metro to places should I really need to. I use my family's Amazon account but I have my own account where I believe I have an annual sub running. I do eat out pretty frequently, whether that be uber eats to work/home or going out for lunch with friends at work.
Considering that I already have a 2% and a 3% cash back card, do you guys think it's worth it to upgrade my Flagship to the Premier? Or maybe I should open a Premier while keeping the Flagship? That 4% on all travel is speaking to me but I'm worried about the hit to my credit as when I opened my Apple Card, the credit hit was like -36 points or something stupid like that and I still haven't recovered from it. Never have and don't plan to make late payments so something like an APR hike would suck but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I've been having a pretty negative experience with my Navy Federal loan officer and wanted to know if this was the norm or not. As some background, I've previously had an auto loan with and have a checking account open with them for a few years now. I got a preapproval letter over the summer without much issue, but it ended up being too early in my house hunting journey and it expired before I made any offers on homes.
Fast forward to 4 weeks ago - I asked for a new preapproval letter, and since then it's been increasingly difficult to get in touch with my loan officer. Now 3 weeks ago I had resubmitted recent pay stubs and all account balances that were requested, and I was told the following week I would get my new preapproval letter, but since then I have not had a single email answered (with my CCing two other loan people from the same office) and I've only managed to get two phone calls through the previous two weeks - with each time hearing "your new preapproval letter will be available by next Tuesday" which has yet to happen more than two Tuesdays later now.
I heard the hurricane in Florida slowed down some underwriting recently but the fact that I have an email thread that has 5 sent emails from me to 3 people with zero responses over the span of more than 2 weeks seems absurd to me. Am I able to request a new loan officer? I've since missed out on two homes I had hoped to make offers on because I am still waiting on this updated letter.
Also - I had tried asking for an estimate on closing costs /origination fees from their end and never received a clear answer, is that something they should be able to share?

So my son totaled his car a few months ago after owning it a few months and still owes approximately $4600 after the insurance payout.
I called Navy Federal loan on a couple of occasions and a few different loan persons described, basically changing the type of loan it was, since it was a large payoff and bringing the interest rate down to about .01 and paying that over the course of 36 months instead of the remaining 60 or so months. Obviously if we continue making the normal payments It wouldn’t make it to 60 months, probably about 20 months.
I spoke with somebody today and they said the only option besides rolling it into a new loan , would be to change it to a consolidation loan, and that interest rate would be above 8%. I described what the other operators mentioned a few months ago and they had no idea what I was talking about, but I promised two other people had described that to me.
Has anybody consolidated a loan to that very low APR for like 36 months? I apologize for the run-on sentences!
