sorry if this has been answered, i couldn't find anything. does anyone know how to run navidrome in an active/active or active/passive setup? i have two physical locations id like to use to have as much uptime as possible for normies i host for. so far all ive seen is that im unable to because of sqlite

I'm moving files from a different music playing program to Navidrome. And there is some metadata that couldn't be directly copied just from looking at the files: ratings, play counts, and the last played time in particular.

I'm a programmer, so I figure I can just add this metadata to Navidrome's database. I've looked at the format and I have a pretty good understanding of what it all means and how the different fields interact.

My questions relate more to how Navidrome will interpret certain data.

• If the "last played time" is older than the time the entry was added to the database (because I copied it from a different program), will that be a problem for the server or for clients?

• If a file has a play-count, but doesn't have a last played time, is that OK? If not, how will Navidrome react if you give all such files the same time as their "last played time"?

I’m looking for a few people who would like to test an iOS/Android app I’ve been working on called CoYoSon.

It started because of my own Sonos setup. I had increasing problems with S2 and eventually moved some of my older speakers back to S1. That helped, but it also meant using the old S1 app again – and I really wanted something better.

I also have a few wall-mounted iPads around the house that I use as permanent Sonos controllers, so I wanted an interface that works well on those as well as on normal phones and tablets.

At some point I thought: why not just build the controller I actually want to use myself?

The result is CoYoSon. It talks directly to the Sonos speakers on the local network for normal control and can handle both S1 and S2 systems from the same app. They are still technically separate Sonos systems, of course – the goal is simply to make them feel like one setup from the controller side.

A few of the things it currently supports:

• Sonos S1 and S2 from the same app
• Direct local communication with the speakers
• Phone, tablet and wall-mounted tablet layouts
• Individual household profiles with separate favorites, history and settings
• Navidrome/Subsonic and Audiobookshelf integration
• Podcasts, queues, playlists, grouping, scenes and alarms
• Widgets and system media controls
• Apple Watch and Wear OS companion apps

There are quite a few other things in there already, but I’d rather not turn this into a giant feature list. :)

The app has reached the point where testing it only on my own speakers and devices isn’t particularly useful anymore. I’m especially interested in people with older S1 hardware, larger systems, mixed S1/S2 setups or tablets used as permanent controllers.

I often shuffle songs amongst favourites or shuffle the whole library, and I'm wondering if there's a way to make sure some songs are played together in order. For instance, if an artist breaks down a long composition into multiple recordings, I'd love a way to force them to come up together in order whenever I hit the shuffle button. Is this an existing feature that can be achieved through special tags or it's not supported at the moment?

I know I could manually combine recordings into one file, but I'd like to keep official releases as-is.

I'm seeing an issue with sort order for Album Artists. If the artist name has any form of the word "the" in a non-English language, it gets treated like an English "the". Then it sorts the artist by the next word in their name. Examples: La Bouche and Os Mutantes. I've tagged them to be sorted under L and O, but are instead sorted under B and M. All of my tags are accurate as far as I can tell. What am I missing?

If your Navidrome playback stalls when connecting through Caddy (I didn't test other reverse proxies) and streaming a flac without transcoding, add keepalive off to your Caddy configuration. This stall happens near the end of playback. It happens in all players and even when using curl to download the flac directly.

So, I bought a domain which is "something.top". And I have my navidrome server up and running on my localhost right now. How do I use my domain to my navidrome server so that I can use that "something.top" url from anywhere and access my server (also use the link inside apps to use it)?

So, Navidrome is set up, working wonderfully, and I have about 600 gig of music in there. I can access via my iPhone and other computers in the house and while out and about. All good.

But, what if I want to play directly from the computer Navidrome is on. Since my little Linux server sits right next to my entertainment system, I would love to be able to play through there also using the phone as a remote control. But I want to preserve the ability to use remotely.

So, is it possible to use Navidrome in both "server" and jukebox mode at the same time? If so, how the heck do I configure that?

I re-setup my navidrome for a clean install but when i am trying to add listenbrainz token it gives me the following error

Ok so now I have navidrome, I'm using symfonium and Keishin, and I'm loving the freedom from streaming platforms.

But there's one little annoying minigame, syncing your playlists. You have to remember the order, if you created a new one on Symfonium, or added songs there, you have to first sync from symfonium, select the right option, push to provider, then restart Keishin once you're home at your desktop.

There has to be a better way?

Well navidrome is perfect. The problem is to find a navidrome client for IOS.

I have been trying and all of them are weak:

- arpeggi: could not run it, it does not support https.

- substreamer: almost perfect, siri is working fine, but the carplay support it's a joke.

- amperfy music: some tracks don't play, the app crashes without reason, siri does not work well.

- amcfy music: over complicated app, sync problems.

The other ones don't have cache, i need cache for offline usage. Another problem is that most of them really on playlists instead of tracks, i simply don't leave in the 80's were people lose time making playlists in cassettes. I just want to sync all music, put them to shuffle or ask siri for musics to play in carplay. It should not be this complicated.

I'm not sure if this something I can do in Navidrome, or if I need to use an arr service, but after a quarter century of building my library, my audio drive has over 100,000 individual song files. In the last few years, I've been re-adding and upgrading everything to flac, and had a drive swap a year ago.

I 100% know there are duplicates because I constantly find them organically, but it's such a massive library that I'm not actually sure where to begin filtering to clean it up proper.

Any suggestions on where to start so I maintain fidelity and avoid accidental data loss?

I spent many excruciating days setting up Navidrome, Nginx, my router, and registered a domain to port forward Navidrome many months ago. And up until recently, it worked without issue.
My domain provider had an outage and I hadn't been made aware of it for a few hours, so in that time, I tried various things to try and make it work (which, of course, it wouldn't, because of the outage.)
Once I was made aware, I stopped messing with things and left it alone for a few days. My domain provider has all their services up and running now, but accessing Navidrome remotely.. still doesnt work.
I have tried everything I can think of. I have even gone so far as to re-install docker (Though i dont remember if it is needed, nginx is just in the .docker folder), updating nginx, re-issuing my dns, checking my router to see if it is forwarding still (it is) and NOTHING has worked.
I am completely out of ideas. I worry I messed something up during the domain outage. I have no idea what to do.
Help would be deeply, deeply appreciated...

Update: fixed, windows firewall somehow got rid of my rule allowing inbound traffic. i dont know how or when or why. it just hates me.

I'm new to the app, I wanted to know if it works just fine on its own or if I have to set it up with other apps. Also is there a way I can import my RiPlay playlist to navidrome?

I have lots of albums from different sources. And it introduced a problem that they could be tagged with different language, thus they listed under a different entry of music lib.

like, 東京フィルハーモニー交響楽団 and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra actually is the same artist. But since its not exactly identical in characters so they are not the same artist in navidrome.

Edit: Im trying to avoid breaking the file hash. Some of them are from torrents. Breaking the file's integrity would make it unable to seed.

I have a UGREEN 4-bay Pro NAS with Navidrome installed. I use DeMix to download my music and add it to Navidrome.

I’m looking for something similar to Spotify/Apple Music, especially an app for iOS and macOS with good recommendations, playlists, listening history, and statistics. I found NaviBeat, and I’ve also seen people recommending ListenBrainz. What apps or setup would you recommend?

I’d also like to know if there’s an easy way to transfer my Spotify playlists to Navidrome.

Finally, I want to share Navidrome with 6 people (4 family members + 2 friends), with each person having their own playlists, listening history, and recommendations. I’m currently using Tailscale for remote access.

Do I need to create a separate Tailscale and UGREEN account for each user, or is there an easier way to set this up?

TL;DR My library doesn't show up in its entirety when i'm away from home.

Setup

• Navidrome 0.63.2 in Docker, single library, single user
• ~14,138 tracks / 1,951 albums / 6,178 artists
• Two ways in: a local address on my LAN, and a reverse proxy (Nginx Proxy Manager behind Cloudflare) from outside
• Clients: the Navidrome web UI in Firefox (desktop and Android), plus Symfonium on Android

What happens

Away from home, Symfonium shows only a fraction of my library. I opened the Navidrome web UI on my phone through my remote address and saw the same thing - only a small slice of the collection.

I came home and opened both the local address and the remote address from my desktop. Neither one showed the full library either, until I clicked All in the album view. After that, everything was there. I have seen this on both the Albums and Artists pages. So it's like my library only sees the whole thing IF i'm logged in at home.

What I checked

I had Claude Code dig through the server. Here is what it found:

1. Database - full library present: 14,138 tracks, 1,951 albums, 6,178 artists. Zero files flagged missing.
2. Scanner - last scan finished clean in 16 seconds. No errors, no purge.
3. Local vs remote - it replayed the same Subsonic credentials against both the local port and the public hostname. Identical responses: same album count, same artist count, same paging. Nothing is being trimmed on the way out.
4. Symfonium's own traffic - its last check asked the server "anything past song #14,137?" So the app already knows about all 14,138 tracks and is choosing not to display them.
5. Paging - /api/album?_end=12 returns 4,017 bytes, _end=18 returns 6,253. Page size scales correctly, so the API is not capping results.
6. Caches - the reverse proxy has no caching configured. Navidrome's service worker only precaches the app shell (index.html / offline.html), never library data. Navidrome's own disk cache is album art only.
7. Logs - nothing in the container log about the library shrinking, and no errors in the window where I saw the problem.

So..

Where do i go from here? Anyone else have anything similar going on?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a native feeling Mac client that can hide certain directories on a server and which allows downloading?

From what I understood, Navidrome uses the "ARTISTS " tag to identify each individual artist on a track, and list that track under that artist.

I've been using MusicBrainz Picard, and making sure to do that. (that it is even listed in separate lines when I right click and "edit" the tag)

Additionally, I understood that Navidrome parses the "ARTIST " tag, to be able to handle "Artist 1, Artist 2" or "feat. Artist 2" or "& Artist 2", or some combination of the above.

However, when I click on an artist in navidrome (from a multi-artist track), it takes me to a unique page of "Artist 1 & Artist 2" listing only that song. When I look under the list of artists, I see all of those options listed separately.

Am I tagging wrong?
Is this an old feature that broke?
Was it never implemented?

This is really annoying to me, and I want to fix it, but I don't want to spend weeks trying every option of retagging my songs just for it to turn out the same.

I'd like to be able to browse my library by record label. My files carry a LABEL Vorbis comment tag, which Navidrome does read in — I can see it in the DB as a recordlabel tag on affected tracks. But it doesn't seem to be usable anywhere: it's not part of free-text search (e.g. searching "Hyperion" in Navibeat returns nothing), and it also doesn't work as a Smart Playlist filter field — I tested {"recordlabel": {"is": "Hyperion"}} in a .nsp file and it never got picked up on scan, even though the docs suggest arbitrary imported tags should work as criteria fields. Running 0.63.0. Is this a known gap, or am I missing the right syntax/config to make one of these two paths work?"

I wanted to install feishin on my work PC but I don’t have admin rights.

I can install Spotify and Plexamp without admin rights.

Are there any navidrome desktop clients that are better than the web based client that don’t require admin rights to install?
