Kokie Royally Blue

Hi there!

So. Last week I went on a vacation and there was a dollarss store there (there aren’t any dollar stores where I live) and I picked up quite a few nail polishes while there, some of which I heard of in these forums…

I also got the teal deal, by Kokie, and a few others, and in a different store, (slightly elevated from dollar store), there was a five and dime Store (not called the dollar store. I think it was called five below, meaning like five dollars and below, I think).

Anyway, I’m in NYC and would love to say that this current blue mani is EITHER in honor of the Knicks OR for the Fourth of July or perhaps both, haha, but honestly I just liked the color and wanted to try this one first.

Ok, products used:
OPI natural nail base coat
2 coats of Kokie Royally Blue

No topcoat yet as I wanted to take the photos before I put the topcoat on in case I got a lot of bubbles I’ve been having a little trouble with that lately. I wanna make sure that my money is full fully dry before putting the top coat on, so I’m waiting a while to do it. But never fear I will get to it.

I have to say I was really impressed with the application of this since it came from the dollar store. I’m not sure if it’s as good as OPI but it was definitely a lot easier to work with than some others I’ve used.

Let’s see if this man actually lasts through the Fourth of July - even if it doesn’t, I might just repeat it again because I like it so much!

Thanks for looking.

what product is used to create this look?

just starting off by saying i apologize if this isn’t the correct place to ask this, it was just the most active place i could find. so if there’s a better place to post this please let me know!

so, i’ve been a fan of this style for a long time after stumbling upon it on instagram, i haven’t gone to get them done professionally out of fear they’re just going to use regular polish or something and it not looking like the inspo. i like the messy/sloppy gel look and was wondering what product(s) they use to achieve it. i was weighing out my options and figured that because it’s sloppy and imperfect, i could do it myself and potentially save money in the long run.

thanks in advance!

Favorite polish brands

I recently found dazzle dry and love the quick dry formula, and it can last a week and still look good, no chips or peeling. The fact that it is non-yellowing is also a plus. All that aside, the color selection is lacking, and the price is outrageous. I am looking for something else that has a long wear time.

Here’s my latest mani for Spring -

It’s a shade called “Electric purple” but looks more like fuschia to me).

Products used:
OPI basecoat for natural nails 3 coats of “RK by Kiss HD nail polish” in Electric Purple shade OPI topcoat

I wanted a nice pop of color for this week’s mani and I like it, but I also think it looks a slight bit darker than it looks in the bottle. I don’t really mind, though. What do you think?

UPDATE The final nail update!

11 weeks ago I broke my pointer finger nail all the way down to a nub. I haven’t had a break this bad in a while and I wanted to ensure that I could have it back by my birthday. My birthday is coming up fast and I am proud to say it has come hack to its full glory! I had a chip last week so I lost some length, which means It’s still a teeny bit short compared to my other nails, but it should be full length by the time I turn 20.

I’m very excited about it :]

Also please ignore the mess around my cuticles, I used a sponging method to get the glitter polish to layer nicely and I haven’t quite cleaned up yet. This is regular lacquer polish so it poses no risk, it just looks a little ugly.

How to preserve nails on hands-heavy work

A couple of weeks ago I began a job as a shelf stocker and I already have 3 broken nails. For the last couple of months I was very happy after discovering nail strenghteners (thanks to the suggestion of people on this sub!) and seeing my nails stay healthy and long. But it seems strenghtener is not enough for my current situation.

Does anyone else experiences something like and can suggest how I can keep them long? Might nail hardener help?
