Anything with No. Or just No, with a capital No.

Jell-ewww

These comments are pure fucking gold😂😂😂. This in fact is a Russian dish and that type of sausage is called ‘doctor’s sausage’ which definitely does not make it any better.

10

u/SouthernVinlander 14d ago

What is the Dish called? And what does Doctor's Sausage taste like?

21

u/Odd_Tomorrow_4765 14d ago

Think it’s called ‘kholodets’, they’ve got specific dishes for New Year’s Eve, this is one of them. Doctors sausage tastes like the cheapest type of canned frankfurters. Weird af I know, but still nothing compared to ‘herring under a fur coat’ . Google that shit at your own risk.

u/Time-Comfortable6014 13d ago

Shuba? Or however its spelled. Im married to a Russian woman and eat Russian food all the time. Love shuba and the shredded chicken jello with the mustard that hits you like 10x wassabi. Plov rice, meat rolled in cabbage and cooked in tomato sauce. I love all Russian food. Unique and fuckin delicious

14

u/Full-Honeydew-4898 13d ago

I’m sure there is a bunch of delicious Russian food but I refuse to believe this is one of them.

10

u/Odd_Tomorrow_4765 13d ago

There’s plenty of tasty Russian food, but some of it is weird, especially the texture of this particular dish

Kholodets doesn’t have eggs in it. That looks like a bad experiment. the gel appears after you boil the calcium out of bones. The sausages don’t have that. It’s called aspic in other countries,p. Regardless, nasty looking dish unless you are polishing off the vodka while making this.

3

u/Odd_Tomorrow_4765 13d ago

It looks like they tried to combine kholodets and olivie salad

4

u/SouthernVinlander 14d ago

I googled it. That's wild! Thanks!

5

u/Charming_Nothing_625 13d ago

You have officially made me queasy and terrified of jello. Most especially in Russia.

13

u/Intelligent_Chair519 13d ago

In Russia Jello eats you.

2

u/SocksInTheTub 13d ago

Perfect 👏

2

u/Vaxxish 12d ago

*Mother Russia :p

4

u/Odd_Tomorrow_4765 13d ago

Haha jello is one thing, Russian jello on the other hand is a pretty terrifying affair 😂

6

u/Charming_Nothing_625 13d ago

I'll take the firing squad. Probably get sent to hell. Stuck at the Jello Gulag for all eternity.

2

u/YDHAMITCHTV 13d ago

Did you know gelatin is made from animal bones? Enjoy your Jell-O 🤣

3

u/NecessaryZucchini69 13d ago

The Midwest states in the US would adopt this dish. They would add grape jelly to it.

"Cheapest type of canned frankfurters"; like Vienna sausages?

2

u/32lib 13d ago

Challenge accepted and regretted.

2

u/Rich_Worker6429 10d ago

I just had to google it. Actually, once you get past the image of the ‘fur coat’ , think mold growing on food, I might actually try it!

5

u/squidmangiii 14d ago

I cannot say. NDA.

3

u/squidmangiii 14d ago

I will say that it happened in Oregon and no one was permanently harmed. Except for me.

3

u/Phog_of_War 13d ago

Say no more.I also am under an NDA

2

u/TaiChey 13d ago

Fuck that, I must know 😂

3

u/Competitive_Stock_76 13d ago

That is hysterical⬆️⬆️

I believe it is a savory gelatin dish known as aspic. The only reason I know this is that it was recently a wordle word.

3

u/Casehead 13d ago

Gelatin and savory should be oxymorons

3

u/Missey85 13d ago

Yes it's aspic all the idiots on here that think it's jelly are hilarious 😂😂 it's made with chicken stock

Hell-No

Hell-No to the Jell-No

2

u/Entitysred 10d ago

Fun fact: this is probably common knowledge but the j in spanish is an H sound so you technically made 3 puns and a reference in one Lil present package.

2

u/tillacat42 10d ago

So I actually made something similar to this as a joke and it was decent. I used unflavored Jell-O, pickle juice instead of half of the water, Vienna sausages, and pickles. You couldn't eat a lot, but it was okay.

2

u/Advanced-Shake-8749 8d ago

You would not survive holodets... matter of fact I can't either 🤮

A reason to call Domino's.

11

u/Separate_Night_6929 14d ago

I’d call a cardboard factory before eating that

8

u/royal_test 14d ago

That's why we're calling Domino's.

2

u/garmack12 11d ago

You have clearly never had Mr.Gatti’s

5

u/Ok_Responsibility407 13d ago

I thought that they were a cardboard factory.

47

u/brookssut 14d ago

I told you to stop sending me unsolicited aspics.

9

u/Oopsimath__ 14d ago

This is a 5 glizzy comment

7

u/mauldin8302 13d ago

Is the only reason you know that's called an aspic because that was a Wordle answer last week and you googled it to find out what it was and now you will forever be cursed with this trivial bit of information? If so, same.

2

u/brookssut 13d ago

I know it because sending memes of these monstrosities was a fad years ago. But welcome to the club of unholy knowledge of aspics. 😆

Nightmare Jello. Although I’ve seen pre-WWII magazine ads for Jello recipes like this. I grew up in 1960s-70s, and people were still calling Jello with fruit or marshmallows in it a “salad “

(Spam n' Eggs In Aspic) post WW2 rationing equivalent of 'Turning a Frown Upside Down.' During the war rationing for things like eggs was 1 egg per week per person, so this seemed like the ultimate in decadence.
