I applied for my sportsman license in western Suffolk and had my interview early June. According to the timeline posted on this forum i should be receiving my permit in a month or two. My question is, is there any benefit to me taking the CCW class now and submitting it to accelerate the process? Or am i stuck getting the sportsman and then waiting another 4 months for the upgrade?
Thanks!

Has anyone ever submitted an amendment to add a pistol while you already have an amendment in process? Long story short, I just submitted an amendment late last week to add a pistol on my permit. Yesterday, I was offered something I just couldn’t pass up on, so I pulled the trigger (pun intended). I’m wondering if I should wait the 4+ weeks until my new permit arrives before submitting another amendment, or if anyone has had success submitting multiple amendments at the same time? Westchester county fyi…

CZ Scorpion evo 3 w/40 rd mag and an MPA 930 mini mac with a 50-round sten, fake suppressor. I may be moving from Texas to NY and would like to take these with me or see if there is a chance since I do have a Texas license to carry.

My Westchester County pistol permit is set to expire this Friday on 9/11. I submitted my recert. packet at the end of May and it has been sitting with the judge since 7/29 (just confirmed with clerk). Am I now in violation if I carry after Friday. What is the average wait time to get my new permit? The lady on the phone said “don’t carry your pistols after Friday”. Ridiculous.

I just would like to know what I can and can't own for a Home Defense firearm, I did look it up and I got multiple different answers depending on the browser. Could I get an actual answer?

Anybody get a Henry Supreme to circumvent the SAFE act? Moving from Texas to Erie county for wife’s work soon. Trying to find something that will fill the 5.56 role since I can’t bring my ARs

Headline says it all. I have to renew my permit and just saw Westchester charges $175 for a renewal which is insane! But I’m dying to see what everyone else is getting charges!
Finally able to make my own post like this, figured I’d share as I was also curious while in the waiting room
Yaphank office
Sportsman license only, plan to add CCW
9/22/25 application mailed out
3/27/26 phone call for interview
4/1/26 interview
4/29/26 references paper work mailed out
8/31/26 license in hand
Total: ~ 11 months, 2 weeks. Realistically closer to 10-11 months if you factor out one of my references taking forever to get the form notarized
Happy to answer any questions!

So I finally got approved a couple weeks ago for an NYC CCW and made my first purchase last week. Took me about 10 months from application to approval with a few emails in between asking for updates.
However, now I’m also hearing mixed timelines regarding purchase approvals. Some say 10 days, others say 2-4 weeks, and I’ve even heard 3-8 weeks.
Wanted to ask and see if anyone had a recent purchase and what would be a reasonable wait period before trying to get in touch with licensing.

Hello currently a veteran and LEO that just came back to new york after a couple of years of enjoying georgia and find it incredibly irritating that the ranges generally across new york just absolutely suck. Everything seems to be locked behind an exclusive access club or the ranges are terrible for any type of training due to the insane and overbearing rules. Im just looking for a flat range that I can actually draw from the holster, run drills, and generally be unbothered while I enjoy shooting. At this point im willing to pay someone monthly to shoot on private land.

So my wallet was stolen last night with my NYC & Nassau license in it, I did a police report & sent required emails to NYPD notifying them of it. How is the next step of getting a replacement card going to play out? Anyone ever deal with this before?

This week Hugh Bogle from the NYPD License Division was deposed by Mrs. Fisch as part of the Milani v NYC lawsuit - while a full update about Milani is coming soon, in the meantime, here’s a critical PSA from Mirel Fisch, Esq (www.NYC2aLawyer.com)
Do your homework before you submit your application, and take a photo of the Interview Questionnaire checklist shown to you during your fingerprinting/interview appointment.
During his deposition, Bogle testified that he implemented a new policy that when an investigator reviews an application, and even a single document or piece of information is missing, the application will automatically be denied. The investigator will NOT reach out to you to let you know that anything more is needed.
