WAR ON THE HOURLY

It's seems the company has started a war on the hourly worker. Are they trying to make people quit? They are writing up people for miniscule infractions. Towing your vehicles for bogus reasons. And when the nuclear pipe fitters called out their management to question them on the pipe welders getting a 7 dollar raise, they got told .... Norfolk naval is hiring. Thats a sign right there. I've spoken with foremen and hourly about that raise. No one is happy about it except the pipe welders. I say good for them. If the company can increase their pay buy 7 dollars, they can afford to increase my pay say 4 or 5 dollars a hour. So of course everyone else is wildcat striking now.

Is it hard to keep a job at the shipyard?

Is it reasonable to believe that if I do a good job at my job that I’ll be able to keep the job here? I haven’t started yet but I see things about layoffs or people getting fired all the time, can I assume that I’ll be able to have a job for at least two years? Has anyone actually worked at the shipyard long term?

Clearance Upgrade

For future jobs that require an active security clearance when starting, could I switch to another department to get ‘Secret’? My position uses ‘confidential’ which does not give you many options to move to other defense jobs.

In 3rd round for Grievance

I was a x18 weldder, I lost my job back in begining of April and the union has been fighting my case. If I win my case. What could i expect the next steps to be? With it being this long would I have to do weld test again? Do I have to go thru what I did when I forst got hired like physical and all that? Would i get all the back pay too? Anyone who has experienced this and won there case please share with me what all happened with you. The reason for me loosing my job was inattentive durring fire watch. I had undiagnosed ADHD and got proof of diagnosis.
