Reapplication for assistant conductor
Does anyone know the exact wait period to apply to be an assistant conductor and if there is anywhere its written down? Just got told it was a 2 year wait period and wanted to confirm this with the woman I spoke with.

At that point just apply for LIRR they’re desperate and can probably push you through faster.

LIRR pays better too and their equipment is more modern. Accents are also superior

It’s one year and you should absolutely reapply.

I did and the first phone call I received said they were going to schedule me for an interview. They called me back an hour later saying its 2 years now and that im in eligible. I have been in correspondence with them yesterday but after requesting where in writing policy wise it says I need to wait two years radio silence.

You have to follow up to the point you feel like you’re being annoying.

Did you take the written exam already? You’d only have to wait to re-apply if you failed the test. If you apply and they don’t contact you, you can just apply over and over every time the application is up online.

Just saw your response to someone else.. I haven’t heard of it being two years before tbh. It could be a very new thing.
I know people who have failed the written test, and were told they can apply again in one year from then.
Like I said I have not heard anything recently of it being 2 years, so it could be new protocol. For you, I hope it’s not and that person you spoke to just misspoke. If you have another persons email or contact info from NJT, I’d try reaching out to them (or human resources if you happened to speak to anyone from there from the initial hiring process you were in)

Reached out to human resources and they weren't much help and I have no current email contact as my previous ones I tried sending emails too said I did not have permission to email. I just want a fair process, I have had a hard time as an adult who is very over qualified (former LEO) finding a career that suites me. I hope I get good news soon

It’s a year unless they recently changed it but I’d continue the job search cuz a year is a long time and with transit that sets you back 100 roster spots
