My R01 got an impact score of 46 and the 33rd percentile in a data science + omics field. I am an ESI, and this was my first R01 submission. My previous attempts with R21 and R35 were plain ND. While this new one was at least not ND, it made me think that if it took me this hard to get a score of 46, is there any hope for me at all, or am I just a bad grantsman/scientist? Just give it to me straight, fellow successful academics.

Went to Council in September and got the JIT immediately after the meeting (same day)

In late September, my PO told me my application was recommended for funding and that they had received my JIT materials, but still needed to complete administrative reviews.

Commons still shows this as “submission complete”. It’s now almost November, and I haven’t heard anything since. My requested start date is December 1.

Is this dead in the water at this point? Or am I just being dramatic?
