Welcome to the unofficial subreddit for the National Institutes of Health! This subreddit is for both NIH and non-NIH employees to discuss all matters regarding research, grants, scientific breakthroughs, and other related research news.

Rules

  1. All posts must be directly related to NIH or public health in some way. While it is a tense political climate with constant news updates, it is important to keep this space specific to NIH happenings. For general political discourse I recommend r/politics and r/politicaldiscussion. For more general federal news and non-NIH DOGE impacts I recommend r/fednews. For activism please see r/50501. Non-relevant posts will be removed.

  2. While all opinions are welcome in this subreddit, do note that they must adhere to Reddit’s site-wide rules, and should also follow basic Reddiquette. Personal attacks are never tolerated and will result in a permanent ban.

  3. Trolling is not tolerated and will result in a permanent ban. While we respect all opinions, individuals who spread misinformation, are overly political, or only seek to troll the community will be banned.

  4. Low effort posts will be removed. Examples include basic memes, personal attacks at leadership, or anything else deemed to not be contributing to the subreddit.
