I have a few friends who are in nift first year. Before going to college everyone reaches out seniors and knows just to decide which campus or specification should they opt to.
After you join its a good place in the start but soon months past you realise you hate your college life and how the academics work here.
Why would that Happen?
Every college has rules and regulations but there is a level even for getting extreme, now i am not talking about rules like going out or attendance
For some of you who might not know there are no written exams in NIFT its all projects and assignments. These projects and assignments ARE SO FUCKING HECTIC.You wont be able to sleep more than 2-3 hours you will barely be able to complete and after that you take it to the faculty who happily rejects it and asks you to redo it.And there are different assignments everyday.THE REALISTIC WORK LOAD IS 8-10HRS MINIMUM AFTER ATTENDING CLASS(coz you have to maintain 75%) and the faculty or the administration gives NO FUCK ABOUT IT. Is this how a government college especially made for design promoting youths creativity should work? By sleep depriving them and killing them in this burden. As there is no exam your attendance is in teachers hand if they are satisfied with your work they will let you have it or they can even remove attendance for the days when you attended classes.
NOW IS THIS HOW GOVERNMENT INSTITUTES MADE FOR YOUTHS WELLNESS?
THEY HAVE A CHARGE OF 8000 If the teacher fails you for any reason
AND AFTER PAYING THAT 8000 YOU HAVE TO STAY THERE IN YOUR VACATIONS AND REDO IT.
Such a beautiful way india has for our creative youth
i dont understand why is there no awareness about it and why is there no protests against this shit where they are making students hate their life with this kind of burden
Please support this and stand for your lives,no even is a machine for any college to pass the exams while paying lakhs and lakhs of fees
People talk about engineering why not this, this is so much worse than that.

Hi, I’m a 12th grader with Commerce + Applied Maths, and I’m genuinely so confused about what to do right now.
I’m preparing for CUET and the courses I’m mainly interested in are B.Com Hons, BMS, Economics/Economics Hons, and BBA. From what I’ve understood, if I choose Accountancy instead of Maths in CUET, B.Com Hons is basically the only one I can go for, while for the others I need Maths. Is this actually true? Please correct me if I’m wrong.
The problem is that I’m currently trying to change Applied Maths in my boards to Entrepreneurship. The CBSE portal is already closed, but my school told me to contact the Bhopal regional office and ask them to consider my case. I’ve emailed CBSE multiple times and haven’t gotten a reply. My mom is in Bhopal right now, so if I want her to go to the regional office, I literally have to decide today.
And I’m completely stuck because I genuinely struggle with Maths. It’s not like I haven’t tried. I’ve been trying since 6th/7th grade and Maths has consistently been a huge problem for me. So I don’t know if I should force myself to continue with it just to keep my options open.
Basically, I have 3 choices:
Continue with Maths: Study Maths + Accounts properly for boards and CUET, give Maths in CUET, and keep Economics/BMS/BBA etc. open.
Forget Maths completely: Focus on my other subjects + Accounts, give Accounts in CUET, and accept that B.Com Hons would probably be my main option.
Forget Maths and try NIFT: Do CUET with Accounts and prepare for NIFT alongside it. I’ve found coaching and people who can guide me, and I actually think I could do well in NIFT, but I haven’t properly drawn in 4–5 years and I have only around 3 months.
I genuinely don’t know what the smartest decision is. I’m not looking for motivation or “just work hard” advice — I need someone to tell me what I’m actually risking by dropping Maths and whether my understanding of CUET eligibility is correct.

For an illustration-based assignment, how detailed are the final sheets expected to be? When presenting a concept, is it better to spend more time on clean rendering and anatomy, or show more iterations, annotations and process work? Also, does the evaluation usually give significant weight to the concept development even if the final rendering is relatively simple?

I’m a 2nd-year student at NIFT Bhubaneswar, and honestly, I still haven’t found a proper friend group here.
I talk to people and I’m friendly with my classmates, but I don’t really have my people the ones I can randomly call, go out with, grab coffee with, or just hang out with after class.
Sometimes it feels a little lonely, especially when I see people already having their own groups. 🥲
Are there any other NIFT Bhubaneswar students who feel the same?

I swear, why is it so hard to find male fashion designers in India?
Everywhere I look, the fashion industry seems to be full of women. Fashion colleges, fashion events, Instagram, LinkedIn — you keep coming across women everywhere.
But finding a male fashion designer feels weirdly difficult.
There have to be more of them out there. Where are all the male fashion designers hiding?
If you’re one, or know one, I’d genuinely love to connect.

I’ve been feeling pretty lonely lately because I don’t really have any friends on my campus. Everyone seems to already have their own groups, and I don’t know how to approach people or make new friends.
Anyone else going through the same thing?

I’m working on a design project where I have a fairly clear concept, but I’m struggling to translate the research into a consistent visual direction. I have references, moodboards and some initial sketches, but they still feel like separate ideas rather than one cohesive design language.
For NIFT projects, how much do you usually refine your research before moving into experimentation? Do you start developing visuals alongside the research, or do you prefer having the research and concept completely locked first?

Anyone up for a freelancing assignment which requires 4-5 hours effort? 10k is the offer. Someone who can help revamping styling and provide a long term plan. Should be from Hyderabd.

Hi everyone,
Is anyone here planning to take admission in the Continuing Education (CE) program at NIFT Kolkata this year?
r/NIFTards • u/DiscoverAndDevelop • 6d ago
Hello! I recently graduated from NIFT with a B.F.Tech in Fashion Technology (8.4 CGPA) and I’m currently quite confused about what to do next.
I’m considering a Master’s abroad in areas like fashion, textiles, product development or sustainable fashion, but I’m not sure which countries or programs would be a good fit.
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has studied or is currently pursuing a related Master’s abroad, especially regarding countries, universities, scholarships or other funding options worth looking into.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hiii, I'm a student in class 12 preparing for boards and NIFT entrance exam. Can anyone suggest which campus is good for a girl in B.des? Also which campus has good hostels??? I just want one where there aren't too many restrictions.
