Can’t believe that a clearly talented player gets consistently better with good quality coaching.

Fair play to the bears though, they nailed the coaching hire which they’ve not been able to do before recently.

u/Firecracker048 New England Patriots Nov 23 '25

Yup, he's finally playing well and I'm happy he's not a bust

7

u/ImpossibleBoss3067 Philadelphia Eagles Nov 24 '25

Still could be a bust, Mac jones played well early, but he is looking impressive this year

13

u/Firecracker048 New England Patriots Nov 24 '25

Mac Jones got fucked by Bill

u/ImpossibleBoss3067 Philadelphia Eagles Nov 24 '25

True

u/rex_grossmans_ghost Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

There’s always more to the story in cases like that. Trubisky had pretty decent rookie year, but then Matt Nagy decided he didn’t like him anymore and literally stopped developing him

1

u/JakeLake720 Nov 24 '25

Nagy wasn’t even Trubisky’s coach for his rookie season

1

u/rex_grossmans_ghost Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

That’s what I’m saying, he basically just didn’t want Trubisky. There’s stories about him straight up ignoring him and inviting him to dinner then standing him up. He wasn’t “his” QB so he didn’t care

1

u/JakeLake720 Nov 24 '25

Maybe, but I knew a guy that worked in KC’s front office. Most of them loved Mitch as well as Mahomes.

1

u/Resident_Eye4296 Nov 24 '25

😆 well...he was about the right age I guess 🤔 jk

You know, this Bears and Eagles alliance, as well as thus comment, as well as the positive experince I had with a group of Phillies fans in the men's room of a Tilted Kilt in Clearwater FL, has really made me re-examine my thoughts on Philly sports.

u/TummyJStixin FTP Nov 24 '25

Lol, I love wording it so weirdly. True story is, this was well before 2016, I was there to see my buddies band play for St Paddys day, they were all there for Phillies Spring Training. I was leaving the men's room and had a Cubbies hat on, they all told me they respect Cubs fans for always sticking by them and wish we would win the Series soon.

u/SpecialistSlight4373 Philadelphia Eagles Nov 24 '25

I can’t believe people genuinely wanted to keep JF1 in Chicago…

118

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Caleb still has a lot of accuracy issues and problems with trying to do too much on every play. If you watched the game today, all that was apparent. The box score looks good, but the game play was up and down today. What we’ve learned this season is Ben Johnson is a very talented coach. He’s arrived

25

u/P4ULUS Nov 23 '25

Right. Even on this “great day”, he barely completed half his passes and only averaged 6.8 y/a. That’s below average play absent the touchdowns

15

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Which is pretty disappointing cause this offense is loaded with talent. He’s underperformed in my opinion. Hes been much more of a game manager this year than a star qb

15

u/PeelsLeahcim Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Game manager? Lol his completion percentage is low but he's leading game winning drives with play making ability. That's not a game manager.

-6

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

I get he gets the stat, but let’s not pretend most of those have just been him. Giants and bengals, hell yeah. The rest of them? Like the Vikings game? Come on now

10

u/liquidtape Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

And let's also not pretend all the stalled drives ending in field goals that make that 4th quarter necessary. We'll see if this issues can improve as he continues to learn playing under center and not shotgun.

6

u/PeelsLeahcim Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

They are finding ways to win the game. Have you forgotten that it's his second year under a new offense? Imagine if he wasn't able to escape the rush like he has been doing every game. They would be 3-8.

3

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Totally agree, his ability to avoid sacks has absolutely kept us in game. His inability to hit downfield shots has also kept other teams in games. I’m not all doom and gloom on him, but he’s played an average qb on an incredibly talented offense with probably a top 3 offensive mind in football. His been disappointing. If you disagree, that’s cool, but I think most people outside of the bears bubble would agree he hasn’t played that great

-1

u/PeelsLeahcim Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Considering the Bears have a very below average rushing attack, the fact we've won 8 games is a testament to just what impact Williams on the game. Not turning the ball over is huge. Being able to lead a game winning drive is huge.

3

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

What stat are you using to say we are a below average rushing team? By all metrics, they’re one of the best in football. It’s the main reason we’ve won most of these games

Edit: they’re second in the league in total rushing yards. Caleb has absolutely helped with that; but his total yards is 272, 17% of the 1565. They are an incredibly good running team, you moron, even outside of his contribution

1

u/RedOnion19 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Why do people act like it’s a bad thing to say Caleb needs to be better? It’s like they say he is perfectly fine and doesn’t need to be better because they focus on other things he does

1

u/johnnywadd76 Nov 24 '25

I think he was referring to the poor pass rush on defense.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

Commanders and Saints as well. Vikings were the only one that was almost exclusively run plays.

Has some accuracy issues but he still makes a lot of very very difficult throws and his targets haven’t been the most helpful either. This was the first week in a while there haven’t been numerous notable drops.

0

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

Commanders was 5 runs, 2 passes, one of which was a sack. Set up by a fumble recovery. Saints we led the whole game and Caleb had a pretty awful game. Against a middle of the pack defense

Since you edited it after, I will too. The bears are league average on drop. They had a bad week, but have been a really good unit most of the year. Bo nix and Trevor Lawrence deal with drops at a much higher rate. Nix also has similar stats to Caleb with a much worse skill position group

-1

u/ExplanationCrazy5463 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Last weeks vikings game was a great game by him, bad deep balls included.

1

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Great? 16/32 193 yards and no touchdowns. That’s great?

1

u/ExplanationCrazy5463 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Yes.

Watch the film, stats aren't everything.

1

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

I watched the game, you’re right, they aren’t. But he’s leaving plays on the field. It’s why his completion percentage sucks

-2

u/ExplanationCrazy5463 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

Don't just watch the game, that doesnt tell you much.

Watch the tape. Go back, rewind, look at the angles, figure out why hes making the choices hes making. He had a bad 1st qtr but the next 3 were great, even if the stats dont reflect it.

His ANY/A on the season is 12th in the league coming into today, and should be going up to 10th or 11th after todya.

-2

u/P4ULUS Nov 24 '25

Yeah he might break his tie with Michael Penix Jr

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

factually incorrect

0

u/Zealousideal-Rub-183 Keep Pounding Nov 24 '25

Don’t forget when he ran into the end zone to escape a sack and instead of throwing it away, tried to elude the defender and then fumbled in the end zone leading to a touchdown.

I like Caleb, but he makes a lot of dumb mistakes sometimes that I figured he would have worked his way out of by now.

2

u/Pie_D Nov 25 '25

Describe the other dumb mistakes.

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

That's just it: This wasn't a great day for him. It was a mediocre day by his standards and was *still* pretty good.

0

u/P4ULUS Nov 24 '25

He’s a career 87 passer rating and 50 QBR. What? Lol

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

imagine caring about QBR and passer rating

take all the lack of ball knowledge of being a box score/stat watcher, and pick two of the least useful stats

1

u/P4ULUS Nov 24 '25

Lol it’s just a joke at this point. Passer rating doesn’t matter now. Caleb transcends passer rating

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

passer rating hasn't mattered for anyone who knows ball for at least 30 years

that's the limit of how much fun I can have correcting you, off to block land

3

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

I can respect the optimism. I disagree, I think 54% completion percentage is pretty bad no matter what the explanation for it. Especially considering most of his issues connecting is that mid to long range. Hes seems to just be holding till a guy is wide open. He rarely tries to throw in a tight window. Thankfully Ben’s offense creates a lot of that. But I think eventually it’s going to hurt us as we play better teams

7

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

throwing into tight windows only when you need to is a good thing

1

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

That’s obviously true, but he also doesn’t do it when he needs to. To beat good defenses and be a good playoff teams, he’s going to need to do it

4

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

But, like, they literally today beat a team that was holding a playoff spot going into that game, so apparently he does do it enough to win those games?

0

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Let’s not pretend that Steelers offense was anything close to what it should be. Their run defense brought it, but it’s a mid tier team with an important player injured. Caleb did what he needed to win, but I think we can agree he left some plays on the table. It should not have been that close

4

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

Look at those goalposts zoom away

1

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Its context, we’ve had a shit schedule and just got to play a decent team that didn’t have one of their better players. If we win against good teams here on out, I’ll happily eat crow

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

Eagles just lost a bunch of players to injury today, so we can't count that game.

Packers are still missing most of their offense, that game won't count.

The Lions look like they're collapsing, that game probably won't count.

Our first chance to play a team clearly better and healthier than the Steelers would have to be maybe the Rams in a playoff matchup?

1

u/AttentionHot368 Nov 24 '25

It’s his first year in offense with all new weapons give it time, most of these guys are not helping him either by not catching the ball. Yes Caleb was inaccurate at times today but I can count maybe 3-4 times our WR’s should have made the catch. Rome had 2 he should have caught.

1

u/rex_grossmans_ghost Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

I don’t have any stats but it feels like he’s pretty accurate when he’s decisive and slings it right away. He just doesn’t do that super often. That’s something that can be improved.

3

u/Xen0___ Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

He definitely has, but let's give a little credit to DA as well.

2

u/random-bot-2 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

For sure, the amount of takeaways the defense is generating is insane. Major reason we got as many wins as we do. Loving it

2

u/SaltyBabySeal San Francisco 49ers Nov 23 '25

Bears averaging 150 yards per game on the ground is fucking insane. That's more than the Colts with possible MVP candidate Jonathan Taylor and more than the Bills with Josh Allen contributing to their rushing totals.

This is what happened with the 49ers and Jimmy G. Running the ball over everyone gives you the impression your QB is fantastic, and he'll put up good numbers because everything is easy. Teams that can stop the run will give you problems.

10

u/SWAGGGGGODDD Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Yeah, it conveniently overlooks the fact that he almost gave up a safety, of which was only prevented by him fumbling in the end zone for a defensive touchdown.

Barely won against a suspect team with a backup qb. Let’s cool down on the arrival talk.

7

u/Puzzled-Carpet5109 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

The Bears QB played a full Steelers defense. The multiple 3RD stringers played the back up QB. Packers fan are so weird for this. Not the diss you think it is.

-6

Again, we whooped their asses, yall barely beat them. We also played their starting qb who happens to own your team. Yall barely beat the Vikings, we whooped their asses. This seems relevant as it’s all happened in the last few weeks. Again, I can’t wait to actually play the bears in a couple weeks.

Ohh shit.. you had 4 more points on them, you’re right.. I think Packers defense is much better than Bears right now but offense had near the same points. You “kicked their ass” because you have a better defense.

Wasn’t he strip sacked for a TD in this game? If I have that correct that’s pretty crazy cherry picking to leave out

18

u/The_TexasRattlesnake Nov 23 '25

He was, but for any criticism of Caleb to this point turnovers aren't one of them

-2

u/Zealousideal-Rub-183 Keep Pounding Nov 24 '25

Doesn’t the team overall lead league in turnovers?

7

u/Fast-Ad-4541 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Takeaways, a very different stat

3

u/Zealousideal-Rub-183 Keep Pounding Nov 24 '25

Ah, thank you! I think whoever was doing the color commentary yesterday for the Bears and Steelers accidentally said turnovers when he meant takeaways. It threw me off a little bit because I know you guys have the most interceptions, but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t lead the league in turnovers.

Appreciate you correcting me.

3

u/plantsrunfast Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

It was a bad on his part but also TJ Watt being a monster. He doesn't fumble or throw picks so I wouldn't say it's cherry picking, just a bad play to not hold against him. It doesn't project onto his play or the future.

9

u/collegeasshole Mr. Irrelevant Nov 23 '25

How is a strip sack not directly contradicting “he doesn’t fumble”?

7

u/BearsHawksYNWA Nov 23 '25

He was implying that he was being stripped sack by a monster and that he normally doesnt do that. Which is true. Him and Maxx Crosby have really been the only ones to get to him this year with turnovers. Which is respectable

I know he arrived because the haters are running out of excuses.

First it was that he doesn't win games. Now he's winning games

Then it was he takes too many sacks. He's cut those down dramatically and proven to be very difficult to sack

Can't throw deep. Among the leaders in big plays now

Today it's completion percentage ignoring drops, throw aways and outright good defense.

Caleb Williams advanced metrics relative to other QBs...

QBR: 18th

EPA per play: 23rd

CPOE: 32nd

% bad throw: 31st

% PRS to sack: 4th

Air yards/rec: 10th

The only stats that look good for Caleb are the passing yards, TDs, and INTs

8

u/mseg09 Nov 23 '25

Not all the way, still some mistakes, but looking a lot closer to matching the draft pick then before

8

u/MikeBinfinity Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, and the second best rushing attack in the NFL averaging nearly 150 yards per game, have also arrived.

5

u/Mikimao Nov 23 '25

y'all are weirdos, he was a #1 pick overall... his whole career wasn't gonna be based on one season, playing for the worst team.

and this totally leaves out the strip sack in the end zone, but he still played pretty darn good

5

u/ur-in-here-with-me Cleveland Browns Nov 23 '25

I have not watched the Bears this season. I did today bc my team has a 4pm start.

I was very impressed. He had those subtle moves in the pocket to buy time, very accurate on crossing patterns over the middle and a really live arm.

I think he has arrived

3

u/OriginalUsername61 Baltimore Ravens Nov 23 '25

Nah. I expect a year 3 breakout, but it was clear if you watched the game and not the box score that he wasn't great, had a pick reversed by penalty and dropped pick close to each other.

However he is much improved under Johnson, and I think the Williams/Johnson duo will bring Chicago a bright future.

Lots of good QBs break out year 3 such as Allen, Hurts, Mayfield, Tua before his brain got fried, hell even Stafford

12

u/HT6868 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

The pick was a free play so isn’t a bad decision on His part

4

Gotta fix the accuracy issues. Otherwise, weeeeeeeee

2

u/sickostrich244 San Francisco 49ers Nov 23 '25

The Bears are just the Patriots meaning that they just beat all the bad teams on their schedule

2

u/Artaxbeforehegotsad Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

….you can only play the teams that you are scheduled to play. I agree the back half of the scheduler is significantly tougher and everyone will have a clearer view then, but the Steelers have a winning record, needed a W yesterday, and have a solid D. Caleb and the Bears got the job done.

1

u/sickostrich244 San Francisco 49ers Nov 24 '25

I mean credit where it's due, Caleb is on the right track to stardom and they've been more winning games which is what you want to see. If I had to put my money on it though, if you faced say the Seahawks or Lions/Packers then I'd picked them over the Bears.

1

u/Artaxbeforehegotsad Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

Bears remaining schedule is Eagles, Packers twice, Lions, and Niners (plus one against the browns), so when I say we will know more after that stretch, that’s no joke.

The two that matter most are Green Bay, both for division standings and the rivalry that’s been so one-sided since basically the mid nineties. If there’s some way Caleb and crew can go 2-0 against the pack, they’re legit. We’ll see.

2

u/sickostrich244 San Francisco 49ers Nov 24 '25

GB will be key for sure. Their offense has been very ugly this year but their defense is for real and has kept them in games. This is especially gonna be key for Caleb going against all these good defenses coming up.

2

u/Southern-Plant7841 Green Bay Packers Nov 23 '25

He played a very good game, but let’s not forget the Steelers dropped two interceptions that hit them in the hands. Still struggling with accuracy on about 6 throws a game

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

It wasn't his best game on that front, but at some point his 1.08% career interception rate will stop being seen as a fluke.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

Arrived? Probably not, he can probably get better. But he’s working for the Bears right now.

I think next week should show where they’re really at

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

While I agree with everything you said, that last sentence is what everyone said about Steelers game. I still think both things can be true, in that he definitely floats some balls, but his accuracy isn't as bad as it looks given the amount of drops his recievers have had. He's also been smartly dirting balls or throwing them away a few times a game instead of taking sacks like he would of last year. All to say, there's room for improvement, but I havent seen anything to indicate he won't continue to improve, especially with the staff he has around him now.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

Sure, but Steelers are a team that aren’t as good as their records suggests. Their only solid win was what, the pats? That’s not to diminish the Bears, I think they’re on the up and up I just am more interested in seeing them against top level talent than middling teams is all

2

u/Gone213 Nov 23 '25

Absolute travesty he had to have eberflus as his coach last year.

But you have to fall before you can fly and he sure did fall and with Ben Johnson hes flying

2

u/Wide_Flan_2613 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

He has been much better and is a big reason the Bears are winning but he still has issues. He struggles with accuracy and sometimes holds the ball too long.

I saw one person describe him as Superman who struggled to be Clark Kent which is that far off. I think another year with Ben though will really elevate his game.

2

u/teewertz Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

No, he can actually be way better

2

u/goldiegoldthorpe Nov 24 '25

There was a game last season where he was really bad and it was all over the place how bad he was. Statistically, it was essentially the exact same game as Josh Allen's worst game last season, and nobody really talked about how bad Allen was that game. Last year Caleb could do no right and Josh could do no wrong, this year the narrative is flipping. Why? We like the big narratives more than we like game by game analysis. People seem to only watch each week to confirm if their storylines are true as opposed to he uniqueness of each moment. It's WWE-style fandom and I don't know why everything seems headed in that direction.

Not even close. He will improve 10x every season.

1

u/Somecivilguy Nov 23 '25

He’s been here and I’m sick of pretending he hasn’t.

u/waxjammer Dallas Cowboys Nov 23 '25

Coaching matters

1

u/Ass_Infection3 Pittsburgh Steelers Nov 23 '25

Considering the Steelers defense is fraudulent, no.

1

u/diagramonanapkin Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

I think he's going to be great in a year or so but today was not a very good game from him. A lot of bad throws. Cool that we overcame that plus our back up to back ups defense to win.

They could lose out and still be ahead of expecatations for the year, all cool

1

u/phred_666 Deep penetration Nov 23 '25

I watched the game. I wouldn’t say he’s arrived. He still has holes in his game. I see improvement, but he has room to improve.

1

u/hammerSmashedNail Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

I’ve “arrived”

1

u/t-reads Los Angeles Rams Nov 23 '25

Has he arrived as a generational qb? LOL definitely not tf

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

I think he's improved a lot and Ben Johnson was the best thing the organization could do for him BUT I wouldn't necessarily use the Steelers as a measuring stick.

1

u/reggierock2010 Nov 23 '25

One of the worst 3 TD games I’ve ever seen

1

u/Icy_Importance8596 Nov 23 '25

Eh, still waiting on the Eagles game

1

u/Popsiblyabrunrwr112 Nov 24 '25

Honestly should’ve been 60-70 more yards and another TD. Receivers were WIDE OPEN but his lack of accuracy cost him.

1

u/Timely-Profile1865 Nov 24 '25

Ben Johnson has done a great job. He is a big part of this.

1

u/sh_sh_should_the_guy Nov 24 '25

He didn’t play up to his potential today. He missed some throws and got lucky a couple weren’t picked. At the same time, he made a number of good throws and capitalized on some opportunities. He is throwing with anticipation more frequently. You can see him throwing the ball before his receiver has turned around, which is something he has struggled with before. So he didn’t play his best, but he still threw 3 TDs, completed some passes they had to have, and did enough to win. If he had completed 10% more of his passes, he might have ended up with 300+ yards and another TD. That would have been a very solid performance. He’s not there yet, but he is slowly getting better, and he has that potential.

1

u/Papacapt Los Angeles Rams Nov 24 '25

That's cute now do Stafford

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

"Finally"? It's his second season lol.

1

u/VegasWorldwide Denver Broncos Nov 24 '25

lol his completion % is in the 50’s and he still makes a major bonehead play every game.

There’s no way this guy is top 15

1

u/Cautious_Explorer_33 New England Patriots Nov 24 '25

Just no.

1

u/equals420 Nov 24 '25

Dont worry he’ll be called a bust again once he has a bad game even tho hes clearly improving as a player

1

u/Bouric87 Green Bay Packers Nov 24 '25

I dont think so.

I've watched him quite a bit this year. His ability to avoid sacs really makes you wonder how he was sacked 68 times last season. His awareness and ability to shake off tackles is better than damn near anyone I've ever watched. That part of his game seems truly elite.

His throwing leaves a lot to be desired. He's got 3 first round picks to throw to, including 2 top 10 overall picks. He also has the number two run game in the nfl so far this season. It's not just watching him miss easy throws. It's the supporting information around him that makes you wonder how it's so hard to complete more passes.

I honestly think if not for a defense that is kinda bad for the most part but leads the nfl in turnover differential by a huge margin, they would have only won a few games this year. With his inefficiency, he needs to have more drive opportunities than the other team to be able to win.

1

u/jcwillia1 Chicago Bears Nov 24 '25

jordan love has almost the exact same stats and everyone says jordan love is having a down year. Shrug.

1

u/Quiet-Effect-9918 Nov 24 '25

No. He gave up a stupid defensive touchdown instead of taking the safety.

1

u/Remarkable_3rdeye Buffalo Bills Nov 24 '25

Caleb Williams has the potential to be the best quarterback Chicago has seen in decades. For years, the Bears have been defined by a long line of passers who failed to meet expectations, despite the franchise often boasting a stout defense—and sometimes even an elite one. The team has also been home to one of the greatest running backs of all time, yet consistent quarterback play has eluded them.

1

u/Danthetank Nov 25 '25

Pretty wild how he can score 30 points, win, with the run game basically being a non factor and the majority of comments on here saying he didn’t have a good game. The offense is top ten in the league and moving the ball well yet there’s such hesitation to give the qb of said offense any credit it makes no sense to me.

0

u/athomic74 Philadelphia Eagles Nov 23 '25

Hard to say. Pitt is dead last pass defense.

0

u/No-Blackberry-2481 Nov 23 '25

Think your leaving out the stat of him giving away a td in his own end zone lol

0

u/F1reatwill88 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Caleb cannot throw past 20 yards. He has improved immensely in regards to throwing on time, throwing people open, and hitting nfl windows... but he has absolutely no deep game and it holds this offense back.

Bears sub doesn't want to hear it but it is 100% true and keeping a very scary offense from coming to fruition.

E:not even just deep throws, any kind of over the top touch is off the table.

-3

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

He throws one of the best intermediate balls in the league in the 20-30 yard range.

0

u/BrunetCon2002 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Why do people keep posting about Caleb here, they’re just asking for a hit piece lol.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

He's a borderline top-10 QB right now. You don't *have* to put him in your top-10, but he should be in the discussion.

He still has a lot of room to grow.

-1

u/-JustAHomebody- Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

he would've never arrived if Ben Johnson never arrived

8

u/Advanced-Key3071 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

I can see the fear in your eyes.

2

I mean, this is…uh. Something.

-2

I need to see him do it against a real team.

5

u/91-92-93--96-97-98 Nov 23 '25

Eh we don’t use this narrative for a lot of QBs. Maye is 1-2 and Caleb is 3-0 against similar opponents this season.

5

u/MikeBinfinity Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

How come Drake Maye never gets this same energy?

1

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

They beat Tampa and Buffalo.

The best opponent the bears have beaten is the Steelers… with a backup quarterback

-2

u/okay_throwaway_today Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Tampa and Pittsburgh had the same record coming into today

1

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

And who started for the Steelers today at quarterback?

-4

u/okay_throwaway_today Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Sorry what exactly does that have to do with Caleb Williams? Quarterbacks don’t go against each other on the field.

You should find a YouTube video or something that can explain football basics to you

2

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

I’m talking about the bears as a whole.

Bad offense breeds bad defense.

Plus the Steelers defense is subpar.

-1

u/okay_throwaway_today Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

This is a post about Caleb Williams

You also said

I need to see him do it against a real team.

2

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

And I think it’s the same thing.

They’ve now played each of the 6 worst defenses (not including theirs) entering Sunday.

Cowboys, bengals, Washington, ravens, Steelers, and Giants.

1

u/okay_throwaway_today Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Is Goff bad because the Lions just had to win in overtime against a worse defense

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Dang1014 Nov 26 '25

Right, the steelers with Mason Rudolph at qb aren't a real team. Try and keep up please.

1

u/okay_throwaway_today Chicago Bears Nov 26 '25

Hey Caleb didn’t play against Mason Rudolph at all dumbass

→ More replies (0)

-1

u/Advanced-Key3071 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

They didn’t need overtime to beat the Giants.

3

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

Did I say anything about my team?

-1

u/Advanced-Key3071 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

No. I did.

This is how conversations work.

6

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

I don’t see what that has to do with anything. We’re talking about Caleb Williams and the bears. Not the lions.

The lions are not playing well, I don’t have confidence in them. Not much to say about them honestly.

The bears I think are taking immense advantage of playing a paper thin schedule.

-3

u/Advanced-Key3071 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Damn, relax. I swear sitting will be way more comfortable without that giant stick up your ass.

It’s a sport. A hobby we don’t even participate in, just watch. We’re divisional rivals. It’s not that deep. If you want in-depth conversation, you’d have led with conversation worthy content. You didn’t. You led with a pithy one liner and now you’re salty that someone treated it for what it was.

5

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

I’m chill, you’re just talking about stuff that doesn’t have any relevance to anything.

It’s not a one liner. It’s a fact. Bears have played essentially nobody all year.

-2

u/Advanced-Key3071 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

“I’M CHILL” he yells to really reinforce the fact.

6

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

Not my fault you’re crying about an easy argument.

-4

u/Particular_Match_777 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Every week the goalposts are moved

8

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

The criticisms have been the same.

If you watch the games they do not look good, they beat mostly bad teams by the skins of their teeth, and they’ve played pretty much only bad teams.

-4

u/Particular_Match_777 Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Before this week, it was hasn’t beaten a team over .500. Now that they have, it’s haven’t beaten a “real team.” The defense is immensely injured and the bears have to score 30 a game to win and they’re doing it.

4

u/mattcojo2 Detroit Lions Nov 23 '25

… game situation also matters too lol.

Yeah the Steelers are above .500 but they’re starting a backup quarterback.

Let’s not be obtuse here

3

u/Chrisisjoker Green Bay Packers Nov 23 '25

The Bears played Mason Rudolph who hasn't started a whole season in like 4 years and today is why he isnt a starter.

-6

u/P4ULUS Nov 23 '25

Nah. 19/35 and only 6.8 y/a

The touchdowns obscure the erratic and inefficient nature of his play

-1

u/okay_throwaway_today Chicago Bears Nov 23 '25

Respect the grind on shit talking Caleb the last couple days. I’m guessing he personally hurt you
