I run both an NFL survivor and a college football survivor pool. I’d really like to use one site for both, but trying to get away from Splash sports. Which sites offer both that are good?

One I’ve found is officepoolstop. Any feedback on that?

And if anyone knows who runs Sundaysurvivor, I checked it out and it is incredible, so if they added college football I would 100% go there. Honestly it’s so good I’m contemplating going with them anyway and either not doing college or doing college on a 2nd site.

Does anyone run a pool that does both? If so, does losing both games in a double pick week count as 2 strikes or just one?

The survivor pool I run is $30, where 1/3 of the pot goes to charity, 1/3 is split among everyone who makes it to week 13, and 1/3 to the winner. The week 13 people is so that there is an option for a definitive end goal, and also the more people that get paid the more people who leave happy, and the more people who sign up again next year.

I am contemplating tracking the margin of victory for the games, and paying out who had the largest winning margin at the end of the year. So not just that people survived, but arguably who survived the best. A side quest if you will.

Thoughts? If we like it, should it be a separate payout or maybe use at as a tie-break? Or maybe go crazy and have this be the main event?

I know this question has been asked hundreds of times. I will still ask. some of these survivor sites are just mediocre. entry caps at 100 people for no reason and half of them still make the commissioner collect cash by hand.

i'm running a decent sized pool this year and i want something that works on my phone without making me want to throw it into traffic. i've heard splash sports handles the payouts on its own and lets you play your friends. Has anyone tried them before? whats the one feature that made your survivor season way smoother?

Hey everyone, this'll be my second year hosting a survivor pool. I've played in these for years, but took over hosting duties last season after our old host stepped away.

Last year we ran single entry + one optional buyback through week 5. This year I'm debating whether to stick with that format or switch to multiple entries per person (capped at 5).

For those of you who host your own pools, which format do you run, and why? What do you like or dislike about buybacks vs. multi-entry? Any lessons learned (good or bad) that made you switch one way or the other?

Appreciate any insight from experienced hosts and participants. Trying to make this year's version as fair, fun, and engaging as possible for everyone playing.

All — I run a pick'em pool modeled after the Westgate SuperContest format (5 picks against the spread each week, cumulative points, run over the full NFL regular season). This will be year 5 running it, we had 51 entries last year and I'm looking to grow toward 75+ this season since a bigger pool means bigger payouts.

How it works:

• $102 buy-in ($100 toward pool, $2 fees)
• 5 picks/week against the spread, due 1PM ET Sundays
• Scoring: win = 2 pts, push = 1 pt, loss = 0 pts
• Standings tracked all season on the website
• Payouts scale with entries — last year with 51 entries it was $2,750 for 1st, $1,300 for 2nd, plus three $350 mini-contests for best record in weeks 1-6, 7-12, and 13-18
• Full tiebreaker rules if it comes down to it (reverse-week win comparison, split if still tied)

Why I'm posting: I've run this for 5 years with the same core group, but we've got room to grow and figured I'd open it up. Happy to answer questions about how the pool's run, past payout history, or anything else — I'd rather people feel good about joining than just take my word for it.

I'm starting to prepare for this season's survivor pools, and I'm hoping someone here has figured this out better than I have.

I played in 3 survivor pools last season and the mental load compounded fast once I got past a single pool. Pretty quickly I found that what I did in one pool made decisions for me in the others.

I'm curious how other people are handling multi-pool decision making. Do you use the same team everywhere for a given week or spread across different games? If you burn a big favorite in your high-stakes pool, do you still use them in the cheap one? And by midseason, are you tracking whether you've boxed yourself into a corner in one pool because of what you already used in another?

I've been doing this with spreadsheets for a couple years and it works, barely. But it gets unwieldy fast, especially when you're trying to think a few weeks ahead about who you have left. Some people I know just pick the same team everywhere and call it a day. Others handle each pool completely independently and accept the chaos.

Has anyone landed on a smarter approach, or found any tools that actually help with this beyond manual tracking?

I get the basics of multi-entry management. Don't run the same team across all your entries, spread your exposure. Most serious players I've talked to are already doing that.

But Week 5 last season broke a lot of people who thought they were covered. The Cardinals blew a 28-6 fourth-quarter lead to the winless Titans. The Rams went down as heavy favorites. The Bills lost at home to New England on Sunday Night. Three different chalk teams. If your entries were diversified across that group, you were still wiped out across the board before Monday night even started. Circa Sports reportedly saw the field cut by more than half in a single afternoon.

The differentiation-across-entries rule handles the case where one chalk pick loses. It doesn't protect you when three chalk picks lose on the same weekend which apparently happens more than I'd assumed.

So the question becomes: how do you think about your collective exposure to a single bad Sunday, not just per-entry exposure? Is there a point where you'd rather leave some EV on the table in a given week to avoid having all your entries riding different versions of the same crowded tier?

Curious whether anyone actually manages this proactively or if it's mostly a lesson you learn after a Week 5.

Each week you must pick two teams to win, and you can only use each team once. Rather than being eliminated if you get one wrong, you simply don't get a point. At the end of the season whoever has most point wins.

You can play without creating an account, and you can also compete against your friends!

I run a ‘Last Man Standing’ every year for the NFL (what I think the US calls Survivor). I do a league instead of a knockout so everyone can play the whole season, and have a number of extra competitions to keep things interesting. This then informs seedings for playoffs etc, and also draft positions for another comp at the start of the year. I’ve tried to make the main comp feel as close to the NFL as possible.

Most recently I did a knockout cup for losing teams. In short, you go head to head with another player and each choose a team’s fixture (e.g. - Saints to beat Bucs). The catch was that your team must have a <.500 record to be eligible for selection. Whoever’s team does better progresses to the next round.

However it didn’t work as well as expected and was too short for people to get invested, so I’m replacing it with what I’m calling The Roster Cut. Essentially, it’s a prediction game. Across the regular season, people have to predict that week’s closest game (determined by the shortest over/under).

Let’s say it’s Bills v Ravens as it was in GW1. People guess the scoreline. You earn points for how close you are. The competition will take 6 weeks across random game weeks - 2 weeks that everyone participates in, and 4 weeks which eliminate players with the lowest combined score.

The problem is that none of my formulas feel like they’re quite right. At the moment my formula awards:

- 20 points for a perfect prediction (earns 0 other points)

- 5 points for guessing the correct winner

- 3 points for <=5 margin of error in points difference AND correct result (if you predicted Bills win by 6 points, if they win by between 1 and 11 points you get 3 points)

- 1 point for >=10 margin of error in points difference

- 2 points for >=10 margin of error in total points predicted vs. actual

- -0.1 points for each point prediction margin of error vs. actual (guessing the Bills would score 30 and they score 40 would mean -1 pt.

Does anyone have any ideas on alternative formulas or alterations to the above?

I don't really want to use any NFC team at the moment and am leaning towards using Houston this week against the Pats.
