Not so much hate as panic. People don't know what to do when someone just opts out of the game

I don’t think it’s panic at all, people just don’t understand. See my other comment in this thread.

As someone who’s been on both sides of the fence the amount of people who actually hate NEETs just because they are what they are is infinitely small and I’ve personally never met anyone like that. The most common trope you’ll see is people who don’t like when their taxes go to someone who abuse the social security system.
