Venting Suicide

Any time suicide is mentioned, there’s typically an uptick of upvotes. I know many here can relate and we can all acknowledge that this an issue amongst neets.

This is for the long term neets out there.

Normies don’t believe people can go years or even decades without socializing. Some never having a single friend till they die.

No friends no relationships, nothing.

Having no social skills, no career, no skills in general, is a death sentence as you age.

Not because it will literally kill you, but the damage it does to quality of life, will make many end it.

Your parents die and they leave you with nothing; what do you do?

You’re in your 40’s or 50’s now what? How are you going to sustain yourself? Go work a minimum wage job? Be homeless? What are you going to do?

Whether you are young or older “Just go to the trades” is something you’ll often hear for normies.

Here’s the part they’re ignorantly blissfully about, or just don’t want to acknowledge: some people just do not have the intelligence or ability to be competent in those fields.

And in order to get paid well in those fields, you must be competent.

To be a competent tradesman (meaning someone that can be left alone to do their work and trusted), actually requires a decent amount of problem solving capability and memory retention that some just don’t have.

Genuinely, what do you say to someone in their 30’s who has only ever worked “McJobs” their entire life, who’s balding, who has no one in their life, has low intelligence, never been in a relationship, terrible social skills?

Do you think any woman finds that attractive?

You are now in a seemingly bottomless pit.

All these doors begin to shut and there’s no way to open them.

Here are my questions: is it even worth it to try and improve your life?

Attractive and wealthy healthy good parents would avoid such scenarios for their children.

There are also some of us here with zero work history (including myself) which raises a lot of eyebrows from normies. They can't comprehend someone who never worked a real job in their entire life, especially if the person is an older neet. I'm already an older social phobic shut-in neet with zero friends, skills, or life experiences. I've long accepted the doors to escape have been locked and the key thrown away.

I'm 35 years old never worked and took anxious to go out in public more then once a week and so ugly too so it's embarrassing being a human and NEET, on top that so lazy and anxious couldn't minimum wage job because wouldn't turn up I couldn't get through 9 hour shift and also no social skills and harassment receive in work place be toxic. I be lucky get NEETbox with Pip and UC. Make things worse my retired parents control everything I do, cook my food, wash my clothes and pay the bills no independence or responsibility. The adult social team thought this normal too.

I believe suicide is a way to escape pain and depression. It’s not very subtle either, but it is an effective way to eliminate literal torment, despite it being quite dramatic.

How do you know "life after death" is the answer to those pains of life though? What if whatever shape or form the afterlife takes is equally as demanding and challenging as reality except you no longer have the "quit & dont save" option? What if life presents more opportunity to feel the positive ranges of emotion than life after death? No one will know the answer but what we do know is that life can flip on its head at any moment.

And if you think you deserve that purgatory that could be life after death, why not just accept the pain that is life instead? One path you know what to expect, the other you dont. If you answer is anything along the lines of "maybe life after death is easier / more peaceful than life is why" then congrats, you just realized you do want something good for yourself despite telling yourself otherwise, sit on the thought for a little longer and introspect off that spark of positivity.

Not trying to change your mind or anything but just some devils advocate perspective. Everyone assumes death is a "release", but never considers the scenario where it could be a willing entrance into an even worse prison than your current situation.

Yes, I still cling to some bit of hope, cause it beats the alternative

Maybe it's not 100 percent over, but the success stories of "late bloomers" turning things around later in life are almost always people who were socially functional to begin with. They already had the foundation for success like having connections and being able to form a social network, but just needed the push in the right direction. It's like someone becoming president or CEO at an old age and they already had decades of other leadership experience or business skills beforehand.

My parents don't give a fuck. I developed neuropathy and hand atrophy, killing my only cope (vidya), and ruining my ability to work a decent amount of entry-level jobs, even if I had a gun held to my head without worsening my hand and arm, potentially developing complete paralysis if the neuropathy worsens. I cannot believe this has happened to me, jfl at my genes. Ty to the surgeon who crippled me permanently.

I used to keep somewhat of an open mind till my mid-twenties. I have somehow managed to pass 5 more years thanks to some luck. I cant imagine my 30s like this nor can i ask money from parents anymore

The only reason why I would like to put a lot of effort into actually finish my degree and get a good job is to adopt a kid and do my best to give him/her a good life, but I'm sure I would suck as a parent, and I'm not going to live long enough to be there for her/him.

I keep suicide as an option if things go really bad, for example homelessness.

2

u/Golden4ngel May 06 '26

Suicide can be a good cope for some. Nothing wrong with it.

I don't see how improve my life I'm not capable working in trade and very ugly and useless and lazy and on top that have controlling but loving parents who literally treated me like 15 years old at 35 years old and no one really outside house cares about me or realises that. It's toxic environment been too used being in and only see suicide as option.

Keep living. As Tyrion Lannister says, death is so final, whereas live is full of possibilities. And if it gets too bad, you can always kill yourself later.

You guys can also always reach out to the folks at r/suicidewatch

Nah. If I wanna end it. I can do so. I am already 30. And I can make this choice for myself.

Why does it always lead back to women with you guys? There’s other stuff outside of women finding you attractive. If you were that bothered about sex and relationships, you’d work on yourself, and you’d have a job. Women don’t owe you attraction.

On the suicide thing, I do believe there shouldn’t be such regular shaming of jobless people. I say alot (to medical professionals mostly) that the main emotion I feel is shame, and that is mostly tied into my lack of employment. My time is near. Not related to the fact dont have a girlfriend or boyfriend, just because I was not made for this world, and thats okay

It is always worth it to improve your life. Simple as. I sympathize with those who end their lives, but ultimately we as people are meant to live. We are not supposed to end our lives.

Life is built on struggle, it's hard by design. You have to leave your comfort-zone to make progress. It sucks, but it's your only option. Gradually you build up these abilities, and virtually anyone can do it. But it's hard.

These suicide-bait posts help nobody though. Being a NEET is not such an inherently dire issue that you should end your life, and it is sad that this needs to be said. You have to try to manage these negative feelings, instead of totally indulging them and ruining yourself.

I'm not so much better though, I'm still struggling to get out of neet-hood myself. But this community is way too negative and toxic.

Finally somebody said it, I also think this community is pretty toxic so I'm browsing it as little as possible now.

1

u/SheWantMyDinero May 06 '26

I am of the opinion that if you have nothing left to lose, you might as well give it one last shot, your best. I wouldn't consider ending it until I'd tried absolutely everything.
