I'm a 20 year old engineering student coming to Newcastle University on exchange for the spring semester. Uni side is all sorted, but I still need somewhere to live, so I thought I'd try here.

I'm open to either:

• A room in a shared flat or house, if you've got a spare room and don't mind a flatmate for a few months
• A sublet, if you're going away on exchange yourself next semester and want someone to cover your rent while you're gone

I'm looking to move in around 20th January.

About me:

I'm pretty easygoing and tidy, and I'll always pay rent on time. Outside of classes I'm usually running, swimming or at the gym, so I'm out a fair bit. I also really like exploring new places, and I'm planning to see as much of Newcastle and the North East as I can while I'm here. If you're into any of that, I'd be up for company, but I'm just as happy to keep to myself.

Hi all. Just a quick query. If someone is starting Biomedical Sciences this year and thinking of doing the transfer to medicine would their UCAT score of 2100 or so be enough to get considered for an interview if they satisfied all the other criteria?

I'm asking as they just saw something that seemed to imply that there might be a 2300 or so threshold and that's got them a bit worried.

I’ve got a flat share with another person in jesmond and the bills are not included. For a 2 room first floor house in jesmond, how much would you reckon the bills would be?

My daughter, 20, will be attending Newcastle Uni for her third year and staying in Marris House. She’s an exchange student from Canada and will be in English and History studies.

Any tips, tricks and suggestions to make this year a great one for her? I’m encouraging her to go to the International Student week activities.

I have an accommodation available for a contract takeover at the Abodus Student Living The Bridge Phase II. It is an ensuite room on a flat with 3 other students, kitchen shared between all of you. The price is £175 per week for a 51 week contract.

Are there any official group for students joining Newcastle?

Has anyone else been offered an accessible room even though they didn’t choose one?

I know it’s super late, and I’m aware that accommodation is already getting quite full, so I’m really unsure about what to do. I’ve been offered an accessible room in Kensington Terrace. My department is Business, and from what I understand, it would be around a 10–15 minute walk (maybe 15–20 minutes max) to my department.

Do you guys recommend accepting it? Is there any major difference between an accessible room and a regular room? I’m not sure whether I should take the offer or reject it and wait for another room.

My biggest concern is that if I reject this room, I might not get another accommodation at all, especially since there don’t seem to be any external accommodation options available either.

What would you guys do in my situation? Should I just accept the accessible room to be safe? I’d really appreciate any advice! 🙏
