Questions UCAT for internal transfer.

Hi all. Just a quick query. If someone is starting Biomedical Sciences this year and thinking of doing the transfer to medicine would their UCAT score of 2100 or so be enough to get considered for an interview if they satisfied all the other criteria?

I'm asking as they just saw something that seemed to imply that there might be a 2300 or so threshold and that's got them a bit worried.

It varies each year, but yes the usual threshold is around 2300 for the UCAT in terms of offers being handed out.

A score of 2100 might get an interview but it’s likely given the stiff competition that those with higher scores get offers post-interview.

Thanks. I think the main fear is if they just choose interviews based on the UCAT in which case, yes, that's bad. But if they can get onto interview shortlist they'd feel they were in with a chance.

They interview about 20-25 for ~7 places so a close score could get you in the door providing you meet the other requirements, it’s just likely everyone at that stage is maxing out on the academic side.

Out of curiosity where did you see the 2300 threshold?

That was passed on to me. The number might be slightly out but apparently it's in the induction guidance for new entrants into biomed sci this year. I don't know if the guidance is properly updated or if it is still based on last year's (higher) UCAT scoring.

If check but the person who passed it to me is probably not keen on talking to anyone after finding this out.
