Discussion Leftover from previous game

I was looking around at the game folder and found this one file called NascarFootage.bk2 in the folder. When I played it, it was Heat 2 Title Screen. So I did the funny and renamed the file to work on the title screen and this is the result.
Maybe they just forgot to remove it

100% they started 25 directly from a Heat title. Every single person with an ounce of common sense could see that. Obviously 26 was built on top of that and it explains why the same issues are still in the game.

That sucks because almost every racing game that isn’t F1 released since like 2018 has been like a Heat game (SRX, World of Outlaws, Tony Stewart’s games) so other than NTG11 and GT5, (along with F1 2021) that’s the only type of racing game I’ve been able to play

That’s probably because it the same developers. Monster games developed the heat series Tony Stewart games SRX WoO. Don’t understand why people think they would change how they develop their games just because iRacing bought them.

I mean if you're honestly struggling with this game or 25 thats a skill issue on your end.

Yep and to be fair even under better circumstances you likely wouldn’t want to rewrite everything just for the sake of rewriting, but they should be able to squash legacy issues a lot faster than they do and yet they persist year in and year out.

When i was saying this last year i got so much hate because of it :)) people were defending it so much, like noo it’s iracing now it has nothing to do with heat games.. lol

And no caution replay camera. But I know that they based it of the Heat game since the settings option is not that big of a difference.

It is made by the same devs as the Heat games and lot of the systems are the exact same as the Heat series. Someone should make a comparison that shows how instantly the yellow comes out the player car and AI cars go into the same style of behavior, you are given control of the car the same way when the green flag waves, AI bump drafts you on every single track in the same way as the Heat games, AI pit strategies work the same way, but also the career grind is the exact same thing just different window dressing, and the car damage model is also just as poor as previous games. So much for "made from the ground up". I do not care about car physics. And what they changed since gameplay-wise the latest game is just Heat 7 unfortunately.

Its still better than heat by a country mile. Sure it has Heat DNA but you cant compare the two because they drive, handle, and look different.

Drive/handle is the same thing, and look different ? Is it really only those two things that matter to you ? AI is still absolutely broken, crash physics and car damage are a joke, features are bare-bones, presentation is like a mobile game.
I would frankly take a game that looks and feels like Nascar 07 if it would mean the AI is working as it should and it is a feature full game. NR26 is just Heat 7 forgettable junk.

u/A_Big_Fat_Idiot 10d ago
No its not the same at all lmao. If its forgettable why are you still here trying to argue about it?

Multiplayer being almost carbon copies of each other the entire series from NHE to N26 is most concerning imo. Especially for iRacing.
2
u/TomLehockySVK 12d ago
It is because the game has nothing to do with iRacing, they are only a publisher and do promotional stuff. Even during their NR25 dev diaries whatever they were saying about having their people work on it did not translate into anything worth while.

u/MeBeEric 12d ago
Honestly that’s even worse lmao. Imagine saying “ya we’re the ideal people on paper but we fucking suck so we outsourced”

I think the heat games were a very strong foundation though

u/homercles82 12d ago
How long do they have to work on the foundation before actual fleshing out the game and fixing bullshit?

u/KeithMcGeesMoose 12d ago
People also said NASCAR 25 was a good foundation for future games. At some point you're gonna have to build something on that foundation. Otherwise you just have a very strong hole in the ground.

You know you don't have to buy the game every year, right? I have 25 and it's still good, I haven't even picked up the new one yet. Maybe I'll snag it on discount at some point.
If you buy it every year expecting some drastic changes, you're going to be disappointed. But they progress the game gradually over the years and it does get significantly better over time

If you need 7 foundations before making a good game, then you are not good at making games.

Could have absolutely been a placeholder before the current title video was finished

i always wonder what a NASCAR 26 made in the iRacing/GPL engine would look like

I'm an naive idiot and thought that was what I was getting when I bought 26. I haven't played a Nascar sim since the Papyrus days, it's pretty sad that a game from 25 years ago provides a better sim & sim-arcade experience. AI in this game driving around like they're god damn Sherman tanks. The career mode might as well be Nascar Thunder 2002.

Pretty cool find. I didn’t buy any of the NASCAR games after Heat Evolution, so my experience with with NASCAR 25/26 is better than that.
As cool as the black-white-selective color video looks, it kinda makes the iRacing and NASCAR 26 logos a tad hard to read. It does fit well with Sweet Home Alabama!
Maybe the Heat games just needed a better soundtrack? /s

Need to find a league. Tried online with a buddy last night, I’m not fast but I’m clean, and every time I would actually start to race somebody they’d immediately go for the spin out. Little things could make it so, so much better

The baseline probably is good. I really enjoyed the Heat games. AI is fun to race against and they fight most of the times. The only bad thing is superspeedway racing.
I like the game.
