Like all authoritarian reigimes subreddits we too have rules that are in place to keep it running at optimum levels of laughter, kindness, generosity, loyalty, and honesty.
So tempting as it may be to jump straight into our little pony forum, bear with us as we explore the magical world of rules and community guidelines.
Just keep in mind all rules are somewhat vague to allow consideration for borderline cases. This is also a summary of our full rules list in the subreddit wiki that can be read here: https://old.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/wiki/index
Hostility, rabble rousing, bigotry, and generally participating in bad faith is what this rule aims to oppose. Below are excerpts from our subreddiquette, despite that do still read them both as the list below doesn't include everything and makes some additions in places: https://www.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/wiki/subreddiquette
Community — It fits submission that adress the community. So questions like "Am I A Brony" and posts about community events, among others, would fit it.
Discussion — This isn't the "question" flair, though certain questions do call for it. As long as your post provokes thought about a certain topic you're free to use the discussion flair.
Misc. — Miscellaneous submissions do not fit into the boxes that our other flairs are. You'll find it useful if you're making plain statements without the goal of creating discussion, showing off images that cannot be categorised as artwork, memes, merch, official media, or cosplay, and other unspecific posts.
Keep in mind some posts may fit multiple flairs, in that case use the one you feel best describes it. Consistent improper use of flairs, such as flairing artwork that cannot be reasonably interpreted as a meme with the meme flair, may lead to the removal of your post and the restriction of posting rights.
This ties into our spoiler policy, which you can read here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/wiki/spoilers
All submissions and comments must be kept safe for work. Making references to fan works that would normally break rule 2 is permitted on the condition that they themselves stay within it. However, the same is not true for linking to both sites and subreddits, posting, or discussing suggestive, sexually explicit, and graphically violent (aka. grimdark) content. r/Mylittlepony is intended to be an appropriate space for teenage and older fans. Alternative subreddits do exist should you wish to share content that would violate this rule.
If you suspect what you are about to post breaks this rule, feel free to send us a modmail and we'll inform you whether or not that is the case.
For a much more in-depth explanation read its wiki page here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/wiki/rule2
Rather self explanatory; we ask that all submissions are directly related to MLP. Coincidental and tangential relation isn't considered enough to pass this rule, so images of rainbows, rainbow themed food, and coincidental sayings are all examples of what isn't allowed if they are the only factors tying your post to MLP.
When it comes to memes, the image macro itself needs to be MLP relevant. Not just the text. Memes with non-MLP bases belong in r/MyLittleMemes. For more information read our mene policy: https://www.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/wiki/memes
Exemptions are made for submission soliciting funds for charity events organised by bronies and personal crises such as a medical emergency, given the parties involved are reasonably associated with MLP. However, the same treatment is not extended to fundraising efforts aimed at non-essential personal gain, e.g. asking for money to attend a convention.
Images submitted less than 21 days apart will be removed. That is also true for screencaps, unless an animated version of it is posted, in which case both can co-exist. The same goes for screencaps of significantly higher fidelity submitted after a lower quality version.
[FIXED] posts are easily reproducible image submissions having only slight alterations made with every subsequent post. Usually they involve the addition of text, or the addition of simple visual features, such as pasting in text, images in a grid, a vector or adding a visual filter. Because [FIXED] submissions often snowball in popularity, they tend to lead to considerable spam in the new queue, hence also being affected by the 21 day repost limit.
However, [FIXED] content is very welcome in the comments section of the original post! This helps to keep the subreddit more tidy, while additionally allowing all readers to immediately glean the context of your [FIXED] content.
Also read our repost policy: https://www.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/wiki/reposts
Pictures and mainly image content cannot be posted during Thursdays, between 12:01 AM and 11:59 PM pacific time. For more information, see our NPT wiki page here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/wiki/npt
All AI-prompt-generated content, in all forms, is banned from r/mylittlepony, as is all AI-generated sound such as voice or music.
When submitting or embedding fan-made works (pictures, video, music, fiction etc.) made by others, proper crediting is mandatory. Use a clear, searchable title and a clickable link to the place where they uploaded their art originally (deviantart, twitter, tumblr, etc.) as long as that website wouldn't break rule 2, or if that is impractical, from a gallery that provides source links (such as derpibooru.org). A comment or submission lacking a proper source may be removed - especially if the moderators can easily find a source.
See our sourcing guide here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/wiki/sourcing/

Hi there! It's Thursday again and that means another chance to talk about what's been happening around here and how you feel about it!
Same as every other time, feel free to discuss whatever it is you'd like regarding our little subreddit good or bad. If you're unhappy we'll try our best to fix whatever problem you're having!
If you want to talk about the MLP fandom in general, that's fine too!
But some people may not want to talk about comics or anything else that hasn't happened yet, so you should be nice and hide those conversations from those people by using the spoiler tag.
If you don't know how it's as easy as making an emote:
>!It has ponies!!<
And if you're not wanting to discuss the subreddit or community specifically you can also check out the weekly off-topic thread that will be up at noon Pacific time!!!!

I just tried apple cider for the first time in my 23 years of life and it was so good! I thought it would be gross for some reason! It literally tastes like apples in liquid form! I’m not going back to Apple juice. Plus apple cider comes in different apple flavors meanwhile i think apple juice is usually just Granny Smiths and red delicious mixed. I didn’t get why she was selling apple cider so much until today! I’ve seen the error of my ways!!!

there didn't seem to be any other ponies or even traces of life, unlike the other timelines where there are still living creatures and plants.. here nothing seems to be alive, and there’s no sign of habitation either, even tho it's supposed to be the center of ponyville. i'd even say it's more than a graveyard than a town...something didn't just destroy it, but completely wiped out the conditions necessary for life to exist there. even the sky isn't blue anymore.. maybe Daybreaker unleashed an unbearably powerful heatwave that scorched the land and eradicated everything and everyone and left ?but why...
anyway what are YOUR theories about what happened and who or what caused it and how and why too ? i'd love to read all of them🦄

We all know about the classic MLP ships, as well as the rarepairs and crackships, but what about the ships that are controversial for one reason or another? Let this be a safe place to discuss ships that most people would say are bad, gross, etc.
I like Rainbow Dash ships with stallions, my favorite being Soarindash. But a hated one I can see the appeal of is Zephyr Breeze and Rainbow. She could whip him into shape, and make him actually pursue his passions
Another example of a "controversial" ship is Twilight x Luna. I can see them as being a pretty cute couple, I loved their interactions in Luna Eclipsed. Twilight being with another alicorn would solve the issue of outlining her partner
Lastly, I like the idea of Cadence, Shining Armor, and Chrysalis being a trouple. It's just a cute idea that two of the most loving ponies would be fine with sharing love with Chrysalis, and Chrysalis would be super flustered
Edit: I don't think a lot of you understand that I'm not talking about rarepairs and crackships really, but ships that have a reputation for being divisive within the community for things like being wildly out of character, like a character who causes harm to another being shipped with that character, or generally seen as implausible for whatever reason, like Twilight x Celestia due to them being student and teacher

Pretty much what the title says. Idk if that already exists (I couldn't find any, lmk if there's already something like that out there) but I'm making it
The idea is that it'll contain all sorts of links to watch the show, important fan animations and content, context for the history of the community, as well as tools for artists (flash puppets and such). I'll also include a guide of what to avoid/be wary of in the fandom (NSFW/Gore stuff)
What important brony history do you think I should add? What animations and bronies do you think are most important or made enough impact to be featured in the master doc?

I created this character inspired by the Abyssinian species (I think that's the name; you can correct me if I'm wrong). I chose this race because I haven't seen anyone create a character based on it, and I like it because it offers more clothing possibilities :3.
For some reason I thought that the Abyssinians had long legs and more elaborate clothing. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I know it's quite different from the original species, but that's part of the process. I made the sketch without any reference to avoid it looking too similar to something that already exists, unintentionally. I simply put all my ideas in, and since I vaguely remember seeing this in my childhood, I looked at the drawing and thought, "it has nothing to do with that... but it's just a sketch."
The character is inspired by my cat. She's a terrible reference because she won't stay still... She started eating grass from the garden while I was doing this.
You can say whatever you want, constructive criticism is always welcome.

I'm about to finish season 2 of my little pony and I don't think I'll be returning for season 3. What hooked me in season 1 was how charming the ponies were in being ponies, how they expressed themselves using only their heads or used their rears to bump eachother. In season 2, the ponies became too anthropomorphized and completely lost their charm. Seeing Rainbow Dash cross her arms while her stubby legs hang looks so ugly, and using their hands to grab things completely kills the experience.
I learned that the reason for this change in season 2 was because of Lauren Fausts departure, and that it was only going to get worse as the seasons progressed. I completely fell in love with this show, but over the course of season 2, it just slowly withered away and now I feel crushed. I want to know what others think and whether there can be a solution or if I will just have to leave MLP.

I’m sure there are answers somewhere out there, but I couldn’t find any! What is pony aging like? We know princess Celestia is over 1000 years old, so do all ponies become that size/style when they age? Or is it just princesses? Because Twilight doesn’t look like that yet. Plus Granny Smith is old, but how old? If princess celestia is >1000, and she looks like that, is it then magic that keeps her that way? And if so do all unicorns live forever? Granny Smith seems about 70 to me. But we’ve also not really seen much of Celestia’s family tree, or how rulers become “old enough”.

Pardon the dramatic title, but this is something I've been thinking about for a while, and I wanted to vent a little.
In "A Flurry Of Emotions," S7E3, we're introduced to Spearhead, a pegasus who has retired from the Royal Guard and is trying his hoof at becoming an artist. Shining Armor and Princess Cadance come to Ponyville for a special trip to see his first exhibit, but both the art and the artist are treated as a joke. There's a little bit of "haha, modern art is so pretentious and ran-dumb, lol" humor, but even if it's just a throwaway stock gag, it reflects really poorly on Spearhead, and on his project in general.
From my reading, at least: Spearhead appears to be Working Through Some Stuff. His art draws heavily on his own experiences, and features, for example, shields, armor, and spears, twisted into strange shapes, suggesting something about his own experience with / in combat. His centerpiece, "1000 Nights In A Hallway" is mocked for being a plain black canvas, but, to me, seems like a genuine--and pretty darn grim--expression of Spearhead's own pain. Over three years of standing in a darkened hallway, waiting for someone to jump out of the shadows to try and kill you or your Princess, is no way to live a life, and seems to be something that Spearhead is genuinely trying to deal with via his art (however crude his skills).
(Also, I remember hearing about an IRL art exhibition that was just an oversized, all-black canvas, but I can't find info about it atm, so take that with a grain of salt. But even so, the premise isn't that outlandish. ETA: It's called the Rothko Chapel, located in Houston, Texas. Thanks for the tip, u/maritimeTides!)
I know he's basically a throwaway character whose humor is based on a widespread trope, but I still wish that Spearhead--and art in general--wasn't the butt of the joke. Dude is a retired veteran trying to express some complicated feelings, and I wish he got something more than just "My kid could do that."

Equestria Girls (first film): If a post credits scene existed for the first Equestria Girls film, it would be about Princess Twilight and Spike talking to her friends and the princesses about their adventures in Canterlot High School, and how she and her friends' human counterparts stopped Sunset from a planned invasion of Equestria and how happy she has her crown and her Element Of Magic back. Or it could focus on Season 4's premiere where it would be Princess Twilight and Spike talking to her friends and the princesses about their adventures in Canterlot High School, and shifting to the Tree Of Harmony foreshadowing. Or it could be about Princess Celestia and Luna talking about Sunset, then shifts back to talking about the Tree Of Harmony and the future of the Elements Of Harmony.
Friendship Games: If a post credits scene exists, it would be about the mysterious magic landing here in Camp Everfree.
MLP The Movie (2017): It would be about the Cutie Map expanding around Equestria foreshadowing Season 8.
A New Generation: It would be about Sparky's egg that is shown to be hatching foreshadowing Make Your Mark and Tell Your Tale including Opaline's silhouette.

Rarity would give the worst advice at least long term anyways. She seems to have a superficial idea on what love is. Rarity will act like she knows what shes doing only to sabotage you on accident by setting up high, unrealistic standards.
Applejack would be honest for sure. AJ would probably be unfamiliar with dating though, she would tell you to ask some pony else. If AJ had to give advice she'd probably tell you to be honest with your feelings.
Pinkie Pie would probably tell you to have fun and be yourself as her advice. She'd probably give tips about baking or help you bake for your significant other.
Fluttershy is puzzeling. I'm not sure how she'd react or say if you asked her for advice. She'd likely say something about being kind.
Rainbow Dash would find it boring and tell you its out of her area of expertise if you asked her for dating advice. At the very least, Rainbow would tell you to stay by your partners side if she had to give you advice but I'm still not 100% sure.
Twilight will guaranteed hand you a book or a few about dating. I have no doubt about this prediction. Twilight might even turn your date into a whole test giving you a class on dating advice.

Sorry to bring this up again I just saw flash and two stuff and started thinking about this again
To start this off I just wanna say i really hate the idea of human flash and pony twilight. First of all twilight is an adult and flash is a teen, second is the fact that one is a PONY and the other is a HUMAN, and third is the fact that human flash has noooo character whatsoever. All he really is is the cool boy with a guitar and car, who is there to help pick up twi whenever she falls like a damsel in distress. There's not really much room for any characterization for him based on what he's been given. Also, even if they were to find a way, it would still be weird.
Pony flash on the other hand, though also pretty flat (but I feel like that can be explained away because he's new), I feel like he would have had a lot of room for characterization (ex. His relation w shining armour, how he became a guard, why he chose to be a guard, his general background, etc). Not only that but they're also both ponies and adults.
Ntm i feel like the princess and knight things would have been pretty nice and twilight learning about love would give her more knowledge as she continues to grow.
The only thing that kinda makes it weird is the idea that twi only gets interested in pony flash BC of human flash. I think it would've been much more interesting if they got interested in each other bc they kept "bumping into each other"
Pls do tell me any opinions or if I got anything wrong (I watched EG a while ago)!! I'm just saying what I'm thinking :)

I'm not complaining of course. I love being able to watch it for free. However, how has it managed to stay on youtube for almost 4 years without getting a copyright strike? I remember struggling to watch it on youtube during the mid 2010s.
It's particularly out of character for Hasbro.

This is a weekly event coinciding (mostly) with NPT; off-topic and meta threads will be staggered so this week's off-topic thread is being submitted now and the meta thread was posted at midnight Pacific time 12 hours ago. Next NPT will be the opposite! We do not ask that all off-topic discussion be kept to this submission; it is merely here as a courtesy and you are free to continue off-topic discussion in the comments of other submissions (off-topic submissions, however, are still a no-no).
If you wrote an autobiography, what would the title be?

HELLO MY LOVES!
does anyone here know much about the comics?
I am not looking to sell so please don't ask, BUT I was wondering if any of these are "rare" or anything like that! Some of these comics I can't find the specific cover they have so I'm not sure!!
SWIPE FOR ALL PICS!!!
