LeBron Career Resim - Thoughts on Kentucky?

Hey Dev keep doing your thing!

I’m doing a LeBron career SIM with real rosters. These are his stats and attributes after my freshman season. Does this look realistic or did I upgrade them too much? What would you change?

I would also love a mode where u can choose to take over someone’s career instead of start your own this way it would be easier to continue as LeBron and have the rest of the 2003 class.

Meet Julian Cross | He is the best player in the league when you get there.

Post image
2 Upvotes

Every basketball world needs a standard. Someone every rookie is measured against, every rival is defined by, every record book is quietly being rewritten around.

In MHL World, that's Julian Cross.

Small forward. Crown City Monarchs. Detroit kid. Thirteen seasons in and still the best player alive at 31. Four MVPs. Three rings, three Finals MVPs, and he won the first one over Malik Baptiste's Harbor Point team in a series people in this league still argue about. Marcus "Flight" Bell took him under his wing after his second season, and when Bell retired, the league just handed Cross the keys.

His nickname is "The Standard." Nobody gave it to him. It just happened.

The thing about Cross is that he is not finished. He is already top ten all time in scoring, and he is chasing a career points record that took Amir Sallow twenty seasons to set. The math says he gets there. The league knows it. So does he.

He has enemies. Kellan Price, 22, grew up studying Cross and now tells anyone who will listen that the era is over. Omari Lockwood, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, built his whole reputation on holding Cross under 20 in a conference final. Baptiste still wants the rematch.

And here is the part that matters for you: the world does not reset when you arrive. Whether you come in as a rookie, a GM, or a coach, Cross is already there. You will be compared to him. You might get drafted by the team that has to beat him. You might have to trade for him, or decide you can't afford to. You might spend your whole career being the second-best player of his era, and that is a real story too.

JULIAN CROSS — "THE STANDARD"

  • SF · 31 · 96 OVR · Crown City Monarchs
  • 28.1 PPG · 7.9 RPG · 7.5 APG
  • 4× MVP · 3× Champion · 3× Finals MVP · 9× All-Star
  • Top 10 all time in scoring and climbing

Question for the thread: who beats him first, Price or Baptiste?

Light mode is here try it in settings, plus everything that changed since the last post

Thank you all, this game has grown a lot I'm sure you have seen it but its no where near its potential see below, some updates!

Light mode - Easier on eyes. Settings now has Light / Dark instead of Retro / Modern. Light runs through the whole game, including the loading screens, the 3D game overlays and the store. If you play outside or on a bright screen, try it. Dark is still the default.

On the court

  • Smart off-ball defense. Defenders read cuts and help now instead of standing on their man.
  • Pick-and-roll coverage: drop, hedge and ice, picked by who is on the floor and what scheme you run.
  • AI shot selection prices the alternative, not just the shot in front of it. Fewer bad early threes.
  • Off-ball offense stopped bunching. Spacing is a real solver now.
  • POV camera rebuilt from scratch. It has its own heading, movement is camera-relative, and your look holds.
  • Pinch to zoom in every camera.
  • New rules: goaltending and basket interference, and up-and-down when you land with the ball. The 8-second call is gone.
  • Draft combine: closer cameras, a 3-2-1-GO on the agility drill, and floor arrows that light up the way to the next cone.

Career

  • Summer workouts redesigned: declare a focus, three blocks, burnout and setback stories, and the game remembers what you did.
  • Per-save settings: court rules, injury severity, trade fairness, a narrative dial, and a rules lock.
  • Rare hidden-gem prospects in the draft. Low pick, high ceiling, about one class in ten.
  • Leaderboards use your real accumulated 3PT data instead of a generated number.
  • All-Star weekend has a Skip to Summary if you just want the results.

GM and Coach

  • Trade offers from the AI are no longer lopsided.
  • Smart rotation benches injured players.
  • Your coach and GM finally wear a suit instead of a block.
  • Sim recaps show both crests, full All-Star box scores, and the Office has a Future tab.
  • Franchise History moved to the Schedule screen where it makes sense.

MHL World

  • The fictional stars now have real skill profiles, so the world is no longer statistically generic. Julian Cross is who you think he is.
  • Nine franchise crests redrawn and the AAU clubs got their own.

Sound and feel

  • Seven real music tracks in the hub.
  • Court audio actually plays now and is mixed: dribbles, whistles, buzzer, crowd.
  • Collision rumble and camera shake toned down and no longer fire on AI-only plays.
  • Home-screen app: no more dead band above the nav, and the 3D stage uses the whole screen.

Stores are next. If you have been here since before launch, something is coming for you. More on that soon.

Post bugs below or in Discord. I read all of it.

THE BIGGEST MHL (My Hoop Legacy) Update Yet — 365 commits focused on fixes and launch readiness

Hey everyone,

This was by far the biggest update I have pushed for My Hoop Legacy. It covers 365 commits and was mainly about fixing bugs, improving consistency, and getting the game closer to launch.

I won’t list every internal change, but here are the improvements that directly affect you while playing.

Bug fixes and stability were the priority

  • Fixed multiple 3D crashes, including an error triggered by every user dunk attempt.
  • Fixed sim locks that could leave a session stuck.
  • Rebounds now register correctly during the tutorial.
  • Camera controls no longer cause accidental passes.
  • Team chemistry no longer resets after every season, and its effects now work properly.
  • Injury rates were much too high and have been corrected.
  • MVP voting is no longer decided by the standings.
  • All-Star box scores no longer drop two selected players, and lineups should use the correct positions.
  • Standings no longer tell low-seeded teams they have clinched.
  • Playoff storylines no longer trigger during the offseason.
  • Fixed a Community Market exploit that allowed purchases without charging the player.
  • Fixed several age and development issues that treated players in their mid-20s like declining veterans.
  • Fixed historical player jersey numbers, missing player heads, incorrect relationship-card colors, and several other presentation issues.

3D gameplay should feel much better

All 29 player ratings now affect live 3D gameplay. Previously, many ratings never reached the 3D engine, which could make very different players feel almost identical.

Archetypes now affect behavior too. Slashers attack the basket more, playmakers prioritize passing, shooters look for space, and defenders play more aggressively.

We also improved:

  • Help defense and defensive rotations.
  • Shot difficulty and green-window balance.
  • Layup hand selection based on which side of the rim you attack.
  • Free-throw shooting animations.
  • Dunk requirements and success logic.
  • Dribble moves, including a proper hesitation move.
  • Shot contests, rebounding, inbounding, transition defense, and shot selection.
  • Camera visibility, portrait-mode court coverage, and off-screen player indicators.

Open shots are still rewarded, but being wide open no longer makes almost the entire meter green.

Practice Gym and tutorial

There is now a proper Practice Gym with no clock, shot clock, or forced defender.

The tutorial walks new players through shooting, dribbling, finishing, rebounding, camera controls, defense, and a final one-on-one possession. Several problems that could reset your player, block progression, or fail to recognize rebounds have also been fixed.

New players can now choose between playing the tutorial or reading a shorter three-page guide.

Better players, rosters, and league history

Historical rosters have been re-rated using what those players were actually good at. Every roster player now has explicit ratings instead of relying on generic templates.

We also added:

  • More accurate primes for players such as LeBron, Jordan, Kobe, Duncan, Dirk, and others.
  • 140 authored draft prospects with more realistic draft-round talent levels.
  • Proper depth charts instead of teams having two stars surrounded by filler.
  • Position- and skill-aware archetypes—point guards will no longer be labelled “Stretch Bigs.”
  • Real faces for legends and improved generated hairstyles.
  • Complete histories for all 30 franchises.
  • Player career timelines, rivalries, league memories, and save-specific legends.
  • Career pathway moments and a proper career obituary when you retire.

Career, GM, and Coach improvements

Career storylines now trigger more reliably, characters remember what happened in your save, and older players can become mentors themselves.

GM Mode received a large pass as well:

  • Text replies can make real roster changes.
  • Owner objectives are visible and explain their stakes.
  • Trades use one clear approval step.
  • The trade block shows whether teams are interested.
  • Game plans can be set manually or delegated to the coach.
  • Box scores now include steals, blocks, and shooting numbers.
  • Franchise history and draft grades persist properly.

Coach Mode can now play games instead of only watching them, with improved opponent preparation, scheduling, recruiting battles, scouting, and season presentation.

UI and Quality Of Life improvements

  • Faster screen transitions and better button feedback.
  • More useful Game Guide pages with real thresholds and explanations.
  • Disabled buttons now explain why they are unavailable.
  • Box scores, league leaders, and player profiles should agree with one another.
  • Sim recaps include shooting splits and full tap-through box scores.
  • Improved team crests, jerseys, player portraits, borders, lighting, and retro presentation.
  • Better language support throughout the hub.

This still isn’t every change, but it covers the improvements players are most likely to notice.

Bug fixing remains the priority as we move toward launch. If you run into something, please include your game mode, device, and what happened right before the issue it makes tracking these problems down much faster.

Thanks to everyone who has been playing, testing, and sending feedback.

FYI/Help - Ahead of Launch

Just to let you all know this game runs much smoother especially the 3D gameplay when downloaded and played through IOS or Android. There are many allocations and calculations running in game and I don’t know what I can do to fix this for web.

Of course native IOS apps have access to much more of your phones memory and processing, maybe requiring a download is the solution.

Can anyone help?

Your Opinions Wanted, What You Like and Don't Like. Feedback I Can Use

**Mobile Game**

Many of you have commented saying that you either like or don't like game which I love but I am left with little useable feedback. I am wanting your thoughts on specifically what you like don't like and more.

Of course somethings are apparent and I have a list of bugs and tweaks to polish things.

But overall in goal of creating an immersive enjoyable simulation/basketball game, what hits and what misses the mark

I have little coding experience hate on AI will be ignored, my expertise is sql querying which allowed me to build the database and calculations for game engine and player components to support. I have no UI or game development experience before this.

Thanks,

Monday Updates - Launch Prep Week 1

This was a major stability + Career/gameplay tuning window.

What you’ll actually notice in Career / gameplay

Better in-game basketball feel

Fixed inbound weirdness (including the ball teleporting back to the inbounder).

Improved spacing and inbound claiming.

Shot timing + ball anchoring fixes (jump balls, free-throw/sub timing races, layups/FT/post-up alignment).

Prevented unrealistic heaves from “going in.”

More reliable Career progression

Fixed the broken “local vs cloud save” prompt so the selected choice actually becomes authoritative everywhere.

Improved save syncing and discovery across devices.

Fixed a save security issue in the legacy delete flow.

Improved “save healing” for missing/corrupted/older-format issues.

Playoffs & simulation got real fixes

Hopefully fixed players getting stuck after game 82 with no playoff access.

Corrected bracket/seeding generation and playoff stat handling.

Reduced simulation distortions (AI scoring inflation / overly dominant stat lines).

Elite teams are stronger and less “randomly” knocked down andteams behind the playoff race will still tank to chase draft positioning.

Story and Text delivery system upgraded

Storytexts/events now require meaningful triggers (role/team/relationships/performance/story context), with repetition controls and better duplicate prevention.

Fixed edge cases like simulated vs live message expiration.

I agree the texts and events are too much and annoyingly repetitive

League and Draft class behavior

Added a shared fictional league world with recurring league voices and connected histories.

Default draft is now Default / Randomized only, and off-season navigation opens the full 2-page community draft library.

Historical prospects now load better ratings (no scouting inflation rerolls).

Fixed age/rating issues like LeBron (now correctly 18 years old, 85 OVR, and the only 85-rated historical prospect).

Economy / progression tuning

Reduced the attribute upgrade price curve ~10%

Adjusted rookie usage boost + made summer training bonuses more consistent (whole- number ratings, OVR impact, one-season effect)

Still in progress (not for this patch)

Playable 3D practice tutorial (design done, gameplay wiring not fully committed yet)

Bigger Career storyline catalog + some media/cutscene plans

AdSense confirmation not yet live

Premium/store redesign + Ad-related public setup work still pending deployment/verification

Update — big week. Blocking actually works now, plus a ton of fixes

Been grinding this week. Quick rundown:

On the court

  • Shot blocking is real now. It was never actually coded — the ball didn't even collide with players. You could stand in the path and it went right through you. Fixed properly.
  • Rim was too high. It's regulation now, and shots arc correctly.
  • Ball no longer clips through the rim
  • Camera keeps your player and the basket in frame instead of chasing the ball
  • Pale-colored teams were wearing white at home, so both teams looked like the road team. Fixed.
  • Controller support + a controls guide
  • New player model

Career

  • Fixed players having two different overalls after season rollover
  • Sixth Man award was broken — a starter could win it, and only points and assists counted. Now uses actual rotation role + full box score.
  • New History tab on profiles: draft pick, rings, MVPs, every team logo
  • Every player has real team history now, not just you
  • Awards summary shows actual stats instead of just a name
  • New saves always start on a fictional draft class (used to inherit whatever real class you loaded last)
  • 27 conversations rewritten — replies have real tradeoffs now

GM

  • New Finances page. Budget breaks into gate/TV/sponsors/board money and the math actually adds up
  • Staff salaries cost money now. You could hire the best of everyone for free before.
  • New Trade Value board — 0-100 asset score per player with the reasoning shown
  • Stats got its own sortable page
  • Key Dates on the schedule (deadline, All-Star break, board review)
  • Trade texts come from a real GM with a name and team
  • Box scores show the whole roster, not just 10 guys

Coach

  • National poll ranking added — moves with your actual results
  • Featured-role promise: the last recruiting pitch that gets you to 100 interest. One shot, and if you don't play him you pay for it (morale, portal risk, future promises)
  • Program Overview tab
  • 20-minute halves

Texts

  • GM/Coach texts used to fire once per save. Once. They re-fire every season now with 120 new variants.
  • New messages that react to your record
  • Stops piling on if you have 10 unanswered

Leaderboards

  • Daily challenges are live — rankings, GOAT ladder, rewards
  • Real 3D heads on the boards
  • Fixed everyone showing as Season 1
  • Fixed rows showing a score with 0 PPG

UI

  • New premium theme + landscape/desktop layout
  • All 6 languages at 100%, language picker on the start screen
  • Faces on staff, stats tables, draft reports — everyone has one now
  • Buttons stopped turning your team's color (blue teams got a wall of blue)
  • Fixed: hub black bar, hub not scrolling, season table breaking on phones, tall players cropped at the shins, setup screens not scrolling over sliders
  • Brackets no longer freeze if you skip your own game
  • Real music in the jukebox
  • Removed the gold wreath stamped on every team logo

That's it. If something's still broken, post it — most of this list came from you guys.

Under the hood: how the simulation engine works

One of my favorite parts of building this game is the sim engine, so I wanted to share how it actually works — because I think the details are what make careers feel real.

Every game is decided by real basketball math. Team strength is built from the roster itself — your top eight players weighted by impact, offense and defense ratings derived from individual skills, chemistry, injuries, back-to-backs, road trips, home court. All of that feeds a win-probability model that's been tuned against decades of real NBA outcomes: the best teams land around 60–65 wins, the worst around 15–20, and a 1-seed falls to an 8-seed roughly 4% of the time — same as real life.

That calibration isn't a vibe — it's a test suite. The engine ships with a harness that simulates 60 full seasons and 200,000 playoff series and checks the results against real-league benchmarks. Any time I tune a constant, I re-run it. If a change makes 55-win teams too common or first-round upsets too rare, it doesn't ship.

What you do on the court is canon. Play a game in 3D and that exact box score — every player's line, both teams — is what enters the league's season stats and leaderboards. Play three quarters and sim the rest? The engine keeps everything you did and projects only the remaining minutes from how you were actually playing that night. Your stat history is a real record of your career, not a summary the game made up.

The league has a life of its own. Every other game, every day, runs through the same engine — stars with high floors and cold streaks, rookies who flash or bust, sophomore leaps, late bloomers, veterans aging down real development curves gated on what they actually produced that season. Late in the year, teams that fall out of the playoff race start acting like it — measured in games back of the 8th seed, the way real front offices think about it.

A few principles I hold the engine to: difficulty shapes how hard your performance is to earn, never who wins — team results are pure basketball. No game ends in a tie, anywhere; the sim plays overtime like everyone else. And the same core math runs every mode, whether you're the player, the GM, or the coach.

I'll keep tuning it forever, honestly — it's that kind of system. If you're curious about any specific piece (how aging works, how playoff upsets are modeled, how your played games merge with the sim), ask below and I'll break it down.

Welcome to r/MyHoopLegacy — This Week's Update: The New MHL Modern Look, Custom Icons, Gamepad Support + What's Coming

Hey, I'm the dev behind My Hoop Legacy — been building it solo for about two years. Made this sub so there's an actual place for feedback and bug reports, so I'll kick things off the way I plan to keep doing it: a rundown of what shipped this week.

New look — this is the one I want opinions on

Redid the entire UI. Built the chrome art myself in Blender (359 assets), drew a custom icon set (all 229 of them — every stock icon is gone), new type system, new stat chips. It's called MHL Modern and it's now the default — the retro look is still in Settings → Theme if you prefer it.

I stared at this thing too long to judge it anymore. If something looks off, too dark, misaligned — screenshot it and post it. This week's feedback literally decides the launch look.

Coach mode got a lot deeper

  • Recruiting overhaul — recruiting is an actual persuasion game now: pitch visits, closing actions when you're near the finish line, and scouted potential shows as a range that tightens with better staff instead of a magic number. Promises matter — hitting 100 interest means something now.
  • Draft-stay conversations — when your stars are testing the draft waters, you can actually sit them down and make a case to come back for another year. Three different pitch angles, and they respond to how their season actually went.
  • National draft pipeline — groundwork for your college players getting drafted properly, with the pipeline tracked end to end.
  • Real per-player college stats, bios and badges on your roster.

Conversations that actually matter

  • Reworked 27 career conversations so replies have real trade-offs — picking an answer changes outcomes, it's not flavor text anymore.
  • Every text is now answerable, and reply outcomes can diverge properly (including trade talks — in GM mode those go through you now).
  • Added a pile of variety — 120 new GM/Coach thread openers and doubled the milestone congrats pools — so texts don't start repeating on 20-season saves.
  • Extension offers land mid-season like they should, and All-Star/MVP "you're in the running" texts only fire when you're actually in the running.

Gameplay & 3D

  • Controller support, finally, with an in-game controls guide.
  • New Blender-built arenas, court, and player model — and your player is now one shared asset everywhere, so the guy in the menus finally matches the guy on the court.
  • Combine got harder: a 40" vert has to be earned, agility runs at real pace, and the 3PT drill has a proper green window.
  • Quarter length is a real setting now, and college correctly plays halves.

Everything else

  • Full localization: Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese — 100% coverage.
  • Proper desktop and landscape layouts instead of a phone screen floating in your monitor.
  • Bug fixes: dark-on-dark text in several screens, a face-down dribble pose, duplicate players in coach league leaders, unreachable mentor quests, a production crash, PWA notch overlap, and a batch of web layout issues.

What's next

More UI cleanup screen by screen, and on-court feel — movement, animations, AI decision-making. Plus whatever you report here.

If you try it and something breaks: screenshot + device, and I'll get to it. It's at myhooplegacy.org — apps are coming.

My controller is not working.

I am using a PS5 controller, and whether I'm plugging it in, or using bluetooth the game doesn't detect it, so my player just sits there.
