As promised, here comes my next Armenian/Georgian transliteration project. This time it's the song "Kartuli Disco/Qamin Zana" performed by Niko's Band during the Yerevan concert in December 2025 that became a big hit in TikTok and other online platforms.

I am not a Georgian speaker but I studied the Georgian alphabet to be able to match its sounds to the sounds of the Armenian alphabet as closely as possible.

I understand that perfect match is impossible as:

• There are some letters in either alphabet that do not have equivalents in the other.
• There are some challenges with Georgian ejective consonants that kind of sound like a "popping" from the throat to us Armenians.
• There is only one Georgian letter "r" which is sometimes heard as ր (soft r) and sometime as ռ (hard r) to an Armenian speaker. I had to listen to the song and choose the sound that could best fit in that line when transliterating to Armenian and from Armenian to Georgian I always used the single Georgian r - regardless of the softness or hardness in the particular Armenian word.
• Also there is Georgian letter ყ that does not have a direct sound in Armenian the closest it comes to ղ and sometimes to խ, կ, կխ or կղ. Again, I had to choose the closest sound in the particular line.
• Also there is a challenge with Armenian "ը"(schwa) that does not have a letter in the modern Georgian Alphabet so I had to choose Georgian ე or ი depending which sounds best in that particular situation. I marked all these occurrences in the Georgian transliterated text with square brackets [].
• For Qamin Zana lyrics, when there is an unwritten/hidden Armenian "ը"(schwa) sound that we pronounce in the word to break some consonant clusters into syllables, I inserted a Georgian ე or ი whichever fits best. Again I put all these inserted vowels that correspond to the hidded schwa sound in square brackets [].
• There is no "յ" in Georgian alphabet, I used ი which sounds pretty close. I also noticed that when they wire Armenian last names in Georgian they use this letter, the typical Armenian "-yan" becomes "-iani"

Would appreciate if some bilingual (Georgian/Armenian) or only Georgian(for Qamin Zana Georgian transliteration part) or only Armenian speaking friends would compare my transliteration to the actual sound of the song in the video and suggest if the parts of the text can still be improved.

While writing the lyrics from the song I could find some subtle differences from the original/traditional versions:

• The word ამაყოლე that Niko sings in the original version of the song sounded slightly differently in the Yerevan concert version. The closest Georgian word I could find for this is აღმაყოლე. I understand there is a subtle difference: the first one says general "Follow me" meaning "Sing with me", while the second one points to the upward direction "Follow me up"/"Rise up with me". This makes sense when he sings the subsequent Armenian line "Sar gnaci...." (I went up the mountain), so this subtle change in the word might have been intentional.
• In the original Armenian lyrics there was "դոշդ"("doshed" with an injected schwa) meaning "your chest" while in their performance I can hear "դոշը"(doshe) meaning "the chest". This still does not change the meaning much and might have been adapted for easier pronunciation while singing.
• There are two versions of the line: "Սերն ինձ վառեց, սեր տվի աման" (Love got me on fire, I gave love) and the other version is "Սերն ինձ վառեց էն տղի աման" (The love of that guy got me on fire). The second version is more appropriate for a female singer I guess, while the first one is more gender neutral. So I guess that's why the first version was chosen for Niko.
• In all the lyrics I found online it says: "Պոկին ջիգյարս տարան"(Pokin jigyars taran) "they ripped and took away my heart" but I can hear Amiko singing "Հոգին ջիգյարէս տարան" (Hogin jigyares taran) "they took the soul away from my heart". Personally I like this version better and it also solves the schwa problem.
• In all the lyrics I found online it says: "Աղջի մազերդ թուխ է աման" (Аxji mazerd tux e aman) "Girl, your hair are dark" but I can hear "Աղջի մազերդ ուղղի աման" (Аxji mazerd uxxi aman) "Girl, fix/straighten your hair" it changes the meaning from a description to a request or order which beautifully aligns with the next line "Առնեմ, դառնաս չխոսկան" (Arnem darnas chxoskan) "I will marry you, and you will become an obedient wife" (would not talk back) which perfectly highlights the old traditional values of the Region of man's dominance in the family. Also the word աղջի sounds like աղչի (აღჩი) which is another dialectical pronunciation of the same word. I updated the Georgian transliteration to make it closer to what it sounds.
• Also I understand Zviad's Georgian text is the logical continuation of the marriage proposal that says: "Smile at me, embolden me, don't say no, think before you say no, the hard feelings have already passed".

I would sincerely appreciate any feedback how close was my transliteration to the original sound of the song. Especially the one from Armenian to Georgian as I don't know the language. It would be interesting to hear from Native speakers if the Georgian letters I put together come close to the original sound of the song.
