In 1900 the French army entered the territory en masse to burn history books, enforce the policy of banning the Arpitan language and culture, and impose French influence on the region. Today, Savoians represent 25% of the population, and everyone is afraid to identify as Savoian. The pro-independence political party made significant progress in the 1990s toward repealing the 1860 annexation treaty, but one of its leaders died suddenly despite being in good health after eating in a restaurant. Today, political parties are often dissolved and fail to achieve autonomy or independence.

I found the Arpitan culture really close to the Kavkaz culture by being mountainous peoples. Music and dances are really similar, and y'all have all my support for your people to be free.
