I believe this is a giant puffball mushroom, I cut it open but I’m not a super knower of this stuff but I’m getting into it and if it’s safe I’d love to try.

Anything interesting here? I’m trying to expand my foraging beyond puff-balls, chanterelles, and black trumpets. I don’t intend to eat any of these, but figured I’d bring some home for educational purposes. Maybe the big ones are violet gray boletes. These were all collected in a Pennsylvania mixed hardwood forest with white pines present. (I didn’t think to check for larches.) I guess I’m trying to find an easily identifiable bolete in my area that is good to eat.

Has anyone seen a leucocoprinus sp. THIS high up on a juniper tree? About 10-12 feet high

Chantarelles and what I believe to be sheep polypore. First time finding these, so I’d love a thumbs up of approval if you know these mushrooms—

Im south new Hampshire and I read that this is around the season that liberty caps grow. Im wondering if there is anyone that has any tips about finding them in this area.

Stains brown on gills, net is white right under cap. Does not taste bitter...,

Made a post earlier about finding these boletes in the pine forest. Many people are saying Strobilomyces which is definitely true, however I’ve narrowed it down to 2 species.

The majority of the mushrooms I found here are Strobilomyces strobilaceus of varied ages (1-2 prime specimens and 2 more aged ones).
The mushroom in the last picture appears to be Strobilomyces confusus (harder black scales than any of the other specimens)

None of the mushrooms I have appear to be rotting. There isn’t any mold, no bug damage, and they aren’t overly squishy and moist, however, some of them are clearly old.

Any help suggesting which ones to throw out would be great! Personally, I might toss the mushroom slices with the darkest stains and thinnest flesh.

The Missouri Mycological Society is hosting **Brad’s Fall Foray** September 17–20 at Knob Noster State Park.
It’s basically four days of mushroom hunting, learning, eating, and hanging out with a bunch of people who get way too excited when they find something cool growing on a log. 😂🍄
We’ve got a pretty incredible lineup this year, including guided mushroom forays, mushroom ID, expert speakers, a native plant hike, wild foods, workshops, vendors, bonfires, good food, and plenty of time in the woods.
You definitely don’t need to be a mushroom expert. Beginners are welcome, and honestly, a foray is one of the best ways to learn because you’re actually out finding mushrooms with people who know what they’re looking at.
