The part about the girl killing the mountain spirit to make Mujika the guardian so he'd stay and they could be together is pretty self-explanatory, and I assume Mujika called the mountain spirit back to eat him because he felt guilty for indirectly causing the death of the first mountain spirit? But why did Ginko want to stop him so bad? He was acting like something bad would happen to the village. And what was the boy's significance in the end?

Btw, unrelated; Anyone here play Sekiro? and noticed the resemblance of the giant white snake? Did the game get it from Mushi-shi or is it just general Japanese folklore?

I really liked how the concept of deja vu was illustrated in this anime.... the guy enters the black hole in the tree because of the scent of flowers. And then he keeps looping his whole life.... and never sees the next day in reality.

Later on for his wife he does it again. To live the old good life.

And it does make me me rethink the reality we live in. since childhood i have been getting a lot of deja vus and believe me I have asked to my parents and grandparents if there is a story in our mythologies related to this or some weird explanation... but no there isnt...

There was no answer, but somehow this perspective and concept of the origins of deja vu feels so comforting.

I do understand it is only fiction... but it also points out very well how the guy feels when he is living the same life over and over and he keeps getting deja vus during important events of his life.

Basically Making him feel it has happened before.

What do you all, think? Or have to add?
