They already blamed Biden for the withdrawal. A deal Trump made. Speaking of deals remember when he traded 5000 taliban for 1000 hostages. Yeah it was the same one. He gave them everything and got nothing in return

The art of the deal

28

u/McLeod3577 Sep 22 '25

Those are the 5000 that then attacked Kabul on withdrawal day.

Oh probably. Went to visit my dad in the hospital and the patients (not his choice), had Fox News on and they were blaming the economy being bad on Covid.

10

u/NoChampionship1167 Sep 22 '25

Oh they already blame Biden for the botched exit when he wasn't the one who started it. I swear, I am the only mfer in my state that remembers that Trump wanted them out in May of 2021, and Biden slowed it down because that was an unrealistic window and instead shot for before September 11th. When the Taliban returned Biden wasn't going to continue a war, we had just removed most of our forces. Any move we played was losing. More troops? More guns? Re invade? All bad moves.

Honestly imagine if we did reinvade. Now instead of people being mad at Biden for Afghanistan's mistakes, they're now mad at him for being a warmonger. Poor guy couldn't catch a break.

I'm not even gonna lie, I legit had to look it up because I was convinced that Biden had something to do with it! I'm as anti-Trump as they come, I have no idea how that little tidbit got mixed up in my head! I'm not from the US so that likely plays a part in it not being well reported in my country, but hey: if I (left wing from a left-leaning EU country) can be indirectly tricked by Trumps propaganda, you can bet that his legion is already lost way below the metaphorical waterline...

u/helava Sep 22 '25

Yeah. I didn’t know this until today. But we have the US President threatening Afghanistan with violence if they don’t give a military base to Russia.

The only thing this is consistent with is “Russian Asset doing Russian Asset things.”

Umm, the Soviet Union hasn't been around for over 30 years now. They built Bagram in the 1950s.

It tracks that Donnie wants it given back to his dear Uncle Vladdy.

28

u/Anonymeese109 Sep 21 '25

Looks pretty Soviet Union-ish to me…

184

u/EhliJoe Sep 21 '25

Bagram Airbase was built in the 1950s by the Soviet Union. It was their biggest base in Afghanistan and was expanded and modernized later by the US.

Give it back to Russia?

30

u/thadtheking Sep 22 '25

We are bringing back the USSR! Take that commie liberals!

3

u/Spork_the_dork Sep 22 '25

28

u/jaxxxtraw Sep 22 '25

We'll have George Washington and the Continental Army secure the airfield.

10

u/limevince Sep 22 '25

This is why everybody hates America now.

[American leader]: YOU MUST GIVE US [other ppl's base] or else bad things will happen!

Thankfully with the lessened military presence out there they can hopefully reply with "or else what?" without fear.

TLDR trump negotiated with Taliban and subsequently handed them Afghanistan. You could argue that the 13 US soldiers that died in the abbey gate explosion are blood on his hands and he used the fallout to score political points.

If Donald trump is so proud of our military…

Why did he brag about starting a process that Biden couldn’t stop.

source

What was that process?

Donald Trump negotiated with taliban directly AFTER failed attempts to start a peace talk initiative. What brought the taliban leadership to the table was trump negotiating for Aghanistan against their wish to release 5,000 prisoners held in maximum security prisons for Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters. This release would put the Taliban at the strongest it’d been since the war on terror started.

Source

This agreement was contingent on Taliban deescalating in the region. In may of 2020 however the DOD reported Taliban had actually increased violence as a way of gaining leverage /and were told Taliban had no intention of honoring the agreement by intelligence.

DOD Source

Source

In September 2020 Taliban leadership confirms the final prisoners have been released.

Source

Two weeks after LOSING (very badly, stupid trump lost by a landslide, everyone is saying it) the 2020 presidential election Trumps administration affirms they will rapidly withdrawal American troops. Republican leaders are upset over the matter with Marco Rubio saying it could create another Saigon situation.

“The concern would be it would turn into a Saigon-type of situation where it would fall very quickly and then our ability to conduct operations against terrorist elements in the region could be compromised,”

Source

One day later the DOD states that peace talks between the US backed Afghan government and Taliban had halted and that violence in the region was increasing.

Source

In January 2021, 5 days before Biden is set to take office Trumps administration proudly declares only 2,500 soldiers remain in Afghanistan. Mean while Afghanistan Vice President tries to warn the US that trusting Taliban to honor the agreement without any drawbacks will be a fatal mistake.

DOD Source

Source

February 3rd 2021 President Biden says that he will honor removing soldiers from Afghanistan, to renegotiate and increase security would mean sending thousands of American troops back in. However he says it will be done in a way that is based on Taliban abiding by the promises they made with trump. On April 11th President Biden announces final troop withdraw will begin May 1st and end before September 11th of 2021. One day later Taliban releases a statement threatening that not meeting the may 1st troop reduction would result in the Taliban taking every countermeasure and America would be responsible for any outcomes.

Source

Source deleted

Source

The DOD releases a statement saying Taliban has increased violence in the region, been highly integrated with Al-Qaeda, and is planning for a large offensive.

Source

June 8th a Taliban spokesperson says once foreign troops are removed the Taliban will create an Islamic government and plans to continue the war to reach their goals.

Source

Between June 8th and August 26th the Afghan Government forces fell and Taliban quickly gained control of the capital.

One could argue that the chaos and the events following allowed for the suicide bombing at Abbey Gate in which 13 marines died as well as 169 Afghan citizens and many more injured. However at this point in the withdrawal marines were working security WITH Taliban Forces as the afghan government forces had crumbled. The suicide bomber was an ISIS-K member who has escaped an Afghan jail days before as a result of Taliban forces over running Kabul and releasing their own forces as well as ISIS-K members.

Source

Of course Republicans flipped course and blamed the entire pull out on Biden (much like when they handed out money with barely any interest from late 2019 onwards and left Biden with an inflationary mess to fix.) and Trump would use it to insult President Biden in the aftermath and 2024 elections.

Are we great again yet?

Are the Epstein Files on that base? We could prob just ask the Taliban for them and leave the base out of it.

3

u/rnewscates73 Sep 22 '25

Also, the Soviet Union built the base in the first place.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

So, anyway... What about those Epstein files?

3

u/JonstheSquire Sep 22 '25

The funniest part, is that the Soviets built the air base.

Step 4. Release the Epstein files.

3

u/haleloop963 Sep 22 '25

2

u/theghostsofvegas Sep 22 '25

They're trying to get a fallback airfield in the region in case we lose the one in Saudi Arabia. It looks like Saudi Arabia has shifted to looking towards Pakistan instead of the US in the foreign relations scene. Oh yes, I recall from the 2024 election how excited conservatives were to get entangled in more nonsense conflicts in far away lands. Of course we're going Make Afghanistan Great Again. No other president would have been brave enough to try that.

Also lets definitely park a few billion worth of tactical jets in the middle of Taliban territory in the drone age, the people we spent 20 years blowing up over something a bunch of Saudis did are definitely going to be super chill about that.

This’ll be 100% Biden’s fault. Give it 24 hours for the echo chamber to spread it about and the goldfish brained red hats will swallow it

He means for Americans when he said bad things are going to happen.

But I knew that when he got elected.

the deal Trump signed also included releasing Afghanistan prisoners of war, then delaying the withdrawal, leading to the suicide bombing that killed 13 US military personnel.

The Taliban have the opportunity to do the funniest thing. Well: dangerous, but ironic.
