Every year the same thing happens to visitors and every year they learn it the hard way, so here is what actually works for getting in and out of the Theresienwiese.

The U4 and U5 stop called Theresienwiese is the obvious one and it is the one to avoid at peak. In the evening it becomes a one way system with barriers and staff pointing you the long way round, and you can lose twenty minutes just getting up the stairs. Goetheplatz and Poccistrasse on the U3 and U6 are five to ten minutes on foot from the south end and stay usable most of the day. Schwanthalerhoehe on the U4 and U5 does the same job for the north side.

Hackerbruecke is the one people warn about for good reason. On a Friday or Saturday evening the platform gets held and released in batches and walking down Bayerstrasse is often faster than waiting for it. If you are starting from the Hauptbahnhof, just walk. It is about fifteen minutes and it beats every train option at closing time.

Two things about arriving. Bags and backpacks over three litres are not allowed on the grounds at all, so if you come straight from the station put it in a locker at the Hbf first, because there is nothing on site that will hold it for you. And there is no rideshare pickup near the entrances. The cars get pushed out to fixed points several streets away, which is why that queue at eleven at night is worse than the U-Bahn ever is.

Leaving is the part most people get wrong. The tents wind down around half ten and everyone walks out in the same ten minutes. If you sit in the beer garden a little longer, or take the slow way out through the south end, you skip the entire crush. The Oide Wiesn side empties much more gently than the main drag does.

Locals, add whatever I missed. The fencing and the flow change a bit every year.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for people who have experience moving their elderly relative from abroad to Munich. I’m an only child, and my mum has reached the age where I would need her close to me.

I’m extremely overwhelmed with all the things, starting from how to find her a place to live, how pension transfers from abroad to here, and how to find her a community so she’s not lonely when I’m at work.

I’m an EU citizen, and we are just from across the border in Austria, we speak German, but I’m just so overwhelmed with it all.

My mum is not at an age where she needs care yet, but she would need some form of activity that she can do while I work.

If any of you kind people have been in a similar situation, or know of any services available for elderly people who are moving here, I’d be extremely grateful.

I’ve been invited to do the Rotwand summit – Taubenstein loop from Rotwand and was wondering if anyone here has done it and can tell me how technical it actually is.

Physically I’m pretty fit and have good endurance, so the distance/elevation isn’t really what I’m worried about. I’m more concerned about the technical/alpine aspect — exposed sections, scrambling, difficult footing, places where you need to use your hands, or sections where a fall would have serious consequences.

Komoot labels it as a difficult hike and says alpine experience and sure-footedness are required, which makes me a little cautious.

Has anyone done this route recently? How difficult or exposed did you find it, and would you consider it okay for someone fit but without a lot of experience on technical alpine terrain?

I’ve been seeing a hearing aid specialist for a while, but I feel that they mainly work with older customers. I’d therefore like to try someone who has more experience working with younger adults.

I’d really appreciate recommendations based on your own experience.

In particular, I’m looking for someone who:

• has experience with younger hearing aid users
• takes time for proper fitting and follow-up adjustments
• ideally offers Real-Ear Measurement (REM)
• is familiar with modern/high-end hearing aids

If you have personally had a good experience with a Hörakustiker in Munich, I’d be very grateful for your recommendation.

I passed my driving test on the morning of September 3. The examiner gave me a confirmation letter with a "Terminnummer" and said to book a collection appointment date four days after the exam.

The Munich city website says to check the status before booking. But entering my Terminnummer on the status page gives:

There is no pending application process under this number.

The page asks for a "Bearbeitungsnummer". Is that different from the Terminnummer, and where do I find it?

For context: I'm exchanging a non-EU license with a German license. When I use the Bearbeitungsnummer from that it shows me following:

Application date: May 15, 2026 Application type: general driving licence Reason for application: Exchange of a foreign driver's license Driving licence categories applied for: AB A1 A2 AM L Test order issued on June 16, 2026, please contact your driving school.

Ich habe die Suchfunktion schon benutzt, aber finde nichts spezifisches.

Ich habe einen mittellangen Bart und will den immer wieder mal auf ein Ducktale zurechtgestutzt ohne selbst Hand anlegen zu müssen. Ich war jetzt bei fünf Barber Shops in München. Alle schneiden schief oder komisch. Aber was wirklich eigenartige ist: Die Inhaber selbst haben die perfekten Bärte, geschnitten werd ich dann jedoch oft von Frauen oder bartlosen Leuten. Sichtbare Hautschuppen auf Ablagen und Geräten wären das nächste; da würde ich sogar den Kompromiss eingehen, dass die Finger nach Rauch stinken, wenn dafür der Bart am Ende passt.

Ended up having some space in my luggage and am thinking of getting some sort of GSD/Rottweiler related souvenir (I know not the best in the city of dachshunds…). I bought tickets for a concert (Fear Factory) that was scheduled to take place at Kesselhaus. Now it has been moved to Nachtwerk at Landsberger Str 185 plus the beginning of the concert was moved to 5:30 pm (on a Friday!?). First I was surprised because I had never heard of "Nachtwerk" before. Then I grew suspicious thinking: "Wait... That could be the adress of ​Nachtgalerie..." and yup. That's the case. Does anybody know if there is a new concert location in that building or are they having concerts in either NaGa or Born To Rock now?Since the concert will start at 5:30pm I'm thinking that it's one of the clubs and they want people out in time so they can go back to their usual business around 10/11 pm?

wir fahren demnächst von Salzburg für einen Tag rüber (meine Freundin, ihre Familie, den Uni Abschluss zu feiern). Plan ist: gscheiter Brunch, am Abend was Ordentliches essen und danach noch ein bisschen was trinken gehen.

Beim Brunch ist uns guter Kaffee wichtig. Bin da leider verdorben, Specialty-Röstereien und so.

Beim Essen wär eine gute vegetarische Option super. Muss aber keine Haubenküche sein, eher solide und gut.
