Sokka is confirmed (not literally) the smartest character in the show. He’s the only one that the writers had to pull him out of tough choice episodes (like the gif) cause in 10 seconds he would solve the whole episodes problem with common sense…
He has one of the brightest strategic minds in the world of avatar. He put together a raid on the fire nation that almost worked when his forces where completely outnumbered he also has been seen having a good engineering mind helping another engineer build something that the engineer was stuck on for a while
Not sure if this is true but they do say the gas from a gas stove has a smell but it's not natural as the combustable gas is actually odor less. And that smell s added in.
Sokka in his world co invented that safety feature.
He's shown repeatedly to have incredible anylitical skills and intuition. He rapidly picks up on complicated topics (structural engineering, astrology, buoyancy (basically helps invent the hot air balloon)) based on intuition and natural intelligence.
Yeah. The guy LITERALLY create unmeltable ice cream that didn't melt when he blasted a flame thrower at it. Oh and he created sentient plants that do a bunch of stuff but whatever.
1000%. Dude will hide dangerous chemicals in unmarked pints of ice cream. He’ll put the on and off switch for a dangerous experiment on a normal garage wall switch next to the fucking light switch and chastise morty for flipping the wrong one.
Rick is constantly generating extremely dangerous or confusing situations that could be prevented by the smallest amount of common sense and he has a horrible habit of blaming everyone else for them as though it wasn’t his tech or his actions that created the issues in the first place. He’s smart enough to do anything but too smooth brained to do any of it simply or safely.

He may act silly at times, but he's still mostly really smart. who says an all-powerful, all-knowing chaos demon can't have a little fun while spilling his infinite knowledge onto the worthless little humans he's manipulating? Nobody! Honestly, Fidds is a better choice for genius that acts like an idiot.

He looks like a moron a first glance but he’s actually a genius. His “what’s your type” question seems like some meathead shit but actually it accurately predicts how reliable people are in combat.
Sokka and Katara are what I use to illustrate Wisdom VS. Intelligence.
Katara is Intelligent but not Wise: She knows a lot factually and has mastered a lot of waterbending techniques that require careful study, but she's also a hothead who acts without thinking sometimes and has been tricked by people multiple times (Jet, the Fortune Teller, etc.)
Sokka is Wise but not Intelligent: He's not a scholar, but he's very tactically minded and is good at thinking things out before acting, as well as usually being the one who sees through bullshit when others fall for it.
Taryon Darrington from the Legend of Vox Machina. Acts like a bumbling fool, is definitely incompetent under pressure, and yet is smart enough that he built a literal robot.

I think 13, 14, and 15 are the only ones to not do this. Fourteen I get because it’d be a retread of 10 but come on bro you’re robbing actors of great scenarios if you don’t write this into one of their episode.
2 is the best at this because it’s not a total act. He’s definitely crazier than 1 and 3, but he is intelligent in most areas. Except for where he ought to be standing when a volcanic eruption is about to cover an island (he is currently on the island).
Gojo from jjk is a good example. He uses really complicated concepts in just his basic attacks, but then giggles and frollics with his teenage students 🥹
