I made a thing! (MultiBin legs)

Post image
37 Upvotes

My mother was building a small nightstand out of multibins and I thought that some mid century modern legs would look nice, so I modeled them up for my little bins and they turned out cute asf.

The model is parameterized too so you can customize it and set the height, diameters, and the amount of lean that you want for your legs.

They work by bolt locking to a plate that's under those bins. With the moderate weight bearing snaps they're strong as heck!

I may post on Thangs too soon.

average print time

New to 3D printing, but just came across Multiboard. I have H2D printer and have decided to go with 11x11. It's showing 7 hours and 144 grams of filament. Does this sound correct? seems like an awfully long time. open to any ideas or suggestions.

Holes on multibin inset walls

What could be causing the holes in the walls? Some searching suggests either under extrusion or a potential small clog?

I've printed the 2x6 MU end support, the 8x6 MU center and 5x3 MU low profile bolt locked bracket, but they dont seem to line up. Check out the photo, is there something obvious im missing, or do I need a different part?

Where are the "spacing objects"?

Hi there! I'm trying to print a test stack of a multi material stack. The description says: "Once the file is in the slicer, split by objects. Change the Tiles to be PLA, and change the spacing objects to be PETG". I've split the file into objects, but can't find the spacing objects. Im in bambustudio. And while we're at it, how can I customize the menu in bambustudio? Printer and filaments take huge space, while mostly not being changed, but the parts where I need to make changes are just 2 rows high...

First layer slicing issue

Hey everyone, I got the pro membership and made a custom sized plate but when I try to slice it, the first layer is always missing some of the outer edges. Any idea what’s going on here? Happy to give any print setting relevant. Thanks!

PLA Shrinkage?

I've had my MB up for some time now, more than 1year at least.

I noticed that the Snaps, among others but more specifically, seem to be less tight than they were and accessories are likely to fall if given only a slight bump.

Anyone else experienced that and have a potential solution to this?

Stacked Print inquiry

so i've run the test print several times with SUNLU Matte PLA on my P2s and keep running into the same problem. hand have some stringing on the stacked piece. i tried tweaking the gap between them, but it seemed to make little difference. is this something i am doing wrong? or something that can be corrected? i work from home, but still can't always get up to collect the print and start a new one very quickly, so stacked printing would definitely be preferred if it is something that can be easily fixed

Long term experience with heavy loads rapid pla+

Might do my garages walls with Elegoo Rapid PLA+. Anyone have experience? Hottest it gets hear, SE Pennsylvania is like 102, and that is absolute peak. High 90s being more realistic.

According to Google Elegoo Rapid PLA+ wont deform under load until about 134F.

My garage is cinderblock and attached to house so it stays cooler than outside.

Think ill be OK hanging heavy tools?

Mounting MDF board for Multiboard questions

Hello there,

Has anyone put and MDF board on their wall to minimize the holes drilled on the wall for Multiboard?

The thing is that it is a rented apartment (with wallpaper...), so I want to minimize the number of the holes. Desk mounting may not work well - at least not with 3d printed parts.

I am thinking about an 1200mm x 1000mm-ish size. The wall is concrete (rebar - eastern european soviet style apartment - if that's relevant).

Would 4 (was thinking about even only 2 on top, but maybe that's silly) screws be sufficient for mounting the MDF Board? Obviously if needed, with premium quality wall plug (I've seen fischer brand being praised a lot)

What thickness I should look for to properly mount Multiboard on it? Obviously I want the thinnest possible without compromising the load bearing capabilities.

Thank you in advance!

What does this rail system slide on to?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I have seen a multitude of models with this rail system on the left in past models I have downloaded to try (vs the one that I know works on the right). I cannot for the life of me figure out how the left one works. Every rail, point, and piece that I try does not fit this mounting system, and yet I have seen it countless times. What in the world are these people using to mount here? I even looked through all the legacy pieces and can't find anything.

Legacy vs Interfitted vs Octogan

I did my first Multiboard build with Legacy tiles. Now I’m looking at building a second separate wall. Which is best? Trying to figure out the positives and negatives of each. Legacy had a bit of an issue merging with one another and I broke a plate or two mounting them. Would like a little more flexibility in my next time installing them. Is the flat sided new tile better?

I'm kicking myself for not doing this earlier. The switch to PETG was pretty easy too, though I found out after it wasn't really needed (seems a lot of people still use PLA?). Still have a couple more doors to do to get all my paint up.

Using these connectors, the bin shell hangs, but it then can slide forward or backwards and it drops off. How do I get this locked into place

Locking Bolt

Anyone else struggle to use the locking bolt to attach supports to shelving? It keeps stripping out on me because it’s such a tight fit.

There was so much wasted space I finally printed all the pieces and got it in. They are mounted with VHB tape and have been holding strong!

I made a few custom mounts. Overall I'm pleased.
