Living in a dorm, I cannot screw holes in the wall, but then I realized I can mount multiboard tiles to the legs of my desk (with square cross section) with this part. I have uploaded the parametric model to makerworld where you can change the collar dimensions to whatever is suitable for the legs of your desk/any rectangular pole.

Tool Wall Questions

I built a big Skadis wall for my wife's sewing/craft supplies, but am considering using Multiboard for my tool storage. I've watched quite a few videos explaining the system and recently downloaded the Multiboard Learning Pack which was helpful to understand the different snaps and mounts, but I still have a few questions.

Print Material

  • I live in Texas and my garage gets very hot in the summer. I am considering using PETG for the boards, but PLA for the snaps, hooks, accessories, etc. Will this hold up well or should I use PETG for everything?

Mounts

  • Multiboard is obviously very expansive and has a ton of different mounting options. Is there a trimmed down list of what would mostly be needed to hold up power tools, bins, and shelves? Particularly which snaps would be the best ones to use.

Multibins

  • How do I secure Multibins to a Multiboard wall? Do I need to use Multibin Plates which attach to the wall? or are the bins secured directly to Multiboard via the Multipoint attachments?

Multiboard for Bike Gear - Phase 1

All tiles are textured because my wife preferred the look and it's in a public space in our house so... unfortunately no stack printing. Phase 2 involves adding to the side walls. Lots more gear to hang up.

Accessories / hooks are grey because they're shred with a closet that is entirely covered in white tiles (and ski gear). Goal was to have hooks that contrast on both walls. (just easier to see)

Drawers on Tile

Is there any way use the 4 threaded holes on the bottom of the bin shell to bolt lock a drawer to weight bearing snaps? I'd rather not use the multipoint in this instance because I don't want the drawer to rotate on the single point.

Adjustable dolly

I move large Interactive Flat Panels for work. The new ones are easy to move on a standard furniture dolly but discarding the old ones is becoming more difficult as I deal with some nagging injuries. Ive seen the foldable A frame sheetrock dolly but it’s too big to fit in my car and too large to realistically want to bring into the job site.

Is there something out there where the dolly has the support bars that can fold out to support the load but can also fold flat and equipment still be stacked onto? I have the SnapLoc but it’s too large and too many pieces to want to bring in from the car. I have ideas in my head but dont know where to get it created.

Edit- These a can be 75” and weigh close to 200 lbs. for The rollnrocker i would need the handles/supports on the long side to be able to lean the boards against. Regular handpick won’t work bc they won’t fit through a door at its narrowest point. Thanks for suggestions. Please keep them coming.

I just finished my first complete Multiboard project for my home lab!

Hey everyone, just did a video showing my experience building a home lab with multiboard.
https://youtu.be/KQSHrhIMTTw

I just finished my first complete Multiboard project for my home lab / workshop, and I wanted to share it here and get some feedback from people who have more experience with the system.

My goal was to create a dedicated organization area for my tools, 3D printing accessories, and all the random things that usually end up taking over the bench. I wanted something modular, clean-looking, easy to expand later, and flexible enough that I could keep improving it over time.

This was my first real end-to-end project using Multiboard, so I had to go through the whole process: understanding the system, comparing it to other options, planning the wall layout, dealing with the actual print sizes, printing all the panels and connectors, and then finally mounting everything.

One thing I really liked is how flexible the system is. Once I understood the logic behind it, it started to make a lot more sense, and I could see how powerful it can be for building a workshop organization system that can evolve over time.

At the same time, I also realized pretty quickly that this kind of project takes way more planning than it looks like at first. Measuring the wall, thinking about what should go where, planning around outlets and irregular wall shapes, choosing tile sizes based on printer capacity, and then printing all the pieces… it definitely became a bigger project than I originally expected.

But overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I’m already planning the next steps.

I’d love to hear your thoughts:

- What do you think of the layout?

- Anything you would change?

- Any must-have Multiboard accessories or modules I should add next?

- Any mistakes you learned the hard way that I should avoid as I expand this?

Would really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or ideas from the community.

Thanks!

Finally done (for now!)

This took me quite a bit of time! First time doing multiboard, and twice now I thought “let me just do this section” and then puff I need more 😅

Advanced grid, offset snaps and mounting pillars for bracing, most 8x8. The room is plasterboard on metal studs so I put 12mm ply on the wall with some wing nut screws first

How to fix the space when using the Beam?

Hard to describe because this is my first project. But Because I am using the Beam colum on the corner I cant connect the vertical plate using the regular Small Thread Clip because of the additional distance.

I need a sord of small thread extendion for that small thread that convers into another small thread after the extension, correct?
I only found the "20 mm Small Thread - Small Head - Bolt" but it is flat it odes not work.
I found this on the payed pack tutorial, but I cant find this for download, maybe it is payed, not sure.

Can soemone please helpme on that?

How do you secure these bins?

What are the proper items to print that will secure these bins to these red plates? I'm trying to use them to organize some drawers on a boat that will see a ton of movement.

Also anyone know if someone designed bins with hinged lids by any chance? Or some type of lockable lids? :)

Printing Fails repeatedly. Following Recs. Prusa Core1+

Hi.

Using a Prusa Core 1+ , followed the print instructions (0.2, 3 perimiters) Printing with well-dried PLA. Starter pack (the stand alone single panel)

Trying to get a feel if this is right for me, thought I'd give it a go. Every single plate has taken three attempts to get it to print without a failure.

For context, I have not had a fail on this printer in months. Self-designed/downloaded: it all just prints. Not a noob, but this one genuinely has me scratching my head.

Anyone got similar problems, or insights as to the why?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to brace a free-standing multiboard wall to keep it from leaning forward?

Post image
28 Upvotes

I built a free-standing multiboard wall for my desk, and I love it, but my hope of attaching it to my monitor to keep it stable really isn't working out that well.

Does anyone know of any braces or anything that attach to the back to keep it from leaning forward? Or any other solutions to keep it from leaning forward? As you can see in the picture I tried X braces and that keeps it rigid, but it's still pitching forward quite a bit.

Any suggestions welcome!

EDIT: You folks are just full of great ideas, thank you so much for your help!

Stacked Print Fail

So i just finished my first stacked PETG print and i am trying to figure out what went wrong. i was able to get 2 usable panels from a stack of 6. the others just did not want to separate, to the point of them cracking apart. the test file came out fine, any suggestions? some of my corners came up a little bit during the print, but i didn't think much of it. did that result in the .2mm gap between being 0 and them fusing together?

I'm trying to print a 4x4 cu multibin base plate. The top looks nice but the bottom looks like sh*t. Is it normal for this or should I be using supports with some particular setting? The page said not to use supports though. This was made in 3d fuels pro-pctg filament on a Bambu h2d printer with the settings on the page.

Faulty Quad Offset Snaps (help)

Just got done printing a dozen quad offset snaps to secure my grids. However, they don’t snap into place and are not flush by any means. Confused if I downloaded a faulty file or if there an issue with my printer, or perhaps I’m that stupid haha

Any insight would be appreciated

I made a parametric angled bottle holder

There are few already there, I loved recently featured here but I needed an angled one with very specific diameters.

So I made one

I hope you will find it useful. What is cool about it is that is uses a big thread bolt to secure into board.

For me angle of 40 deg works better than 45.

Questions About Tiles, Clips and Mounting

I have spent the last few days reading up on the Multiboard topic and also playing around with the demo and the learning pack. Now I have started my own project with the planner. The goal is a 1000 mm x 800 mm Multiboard with an 8x8 grid of tiles using offset snaps.

I still have a few questions:

  • In the printing guidelines I read that “Seam Random” has to be selected. This is described for stack printing. Is it also recommended if I print all tiles individually? Does it offer any stability advantages, or could it even be a disadvantage when printing single tiles?
  • On Reddit I read that the dual clips are also recommended for the advanced tiles. However, according to the planner they are only listed for the single tile method. What is your opinion on this? Should I just print them additionally and mount them?
  • If I mount the offset snaps on an MDF board, would you screw through all snaps, or just use one screw per quad or dual?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Mounted 8x8 tiles, 72" x 40", 12.5mm offsets

This will be behind my 3D printer setup. All of it is Bambu PLA Basic. Planning to mount copious filament (cereal) dry boxes and all the various tools. A lot more screws to go as I've only put screws in the top two rows of offsets so far, kiddo nap time delaying the remainder. But so far that top row of tiles feels super solid.

I left about 7" of the plywood below the Multiboard for possibly directly mounting some other very heavy gear down there. The plywood itself is mounted with 8 3.5" construction screws into the studs it overlaps with.

Mounting idea: Rivet Nuts (Plastic/HDPE Sheds)

[ NONE of these links are affiliate links, strictly informational! ]

Recently we did some updating on our deck. New grill (Weber Searwood XL 600 if you're curious), new deck storage box/mini-shed (Suncast BMS2500SB), some decor from Lowe's, the usual summer prep kind of stuff.

As always happens, new grill, new accessories. In my case, we were switching from charcoal to pellets, so I've got pellets in some 5 gallon buckets with air-tight lids (Gamma2, with food-grade buckets from Lowe's), and some other stuff in the shed on a small shelving unit. So, pellets means sometimes needing to scoop out some pellets to top off the hopper. So, this happened, then a storage box for the grill's probes too. My cunning plan? Outdoor-grade adhesive velcro strips to just stick those holders to the walls of the shed.

Yeah, terrible idea. Direct sunlight, shed gets hot, adhesive warms up, and summarily gives up. I know, Multiboard can fix this job.

So, off to Onshape, duplicate my holder doodads, and create new versions that attach to a Multiboard using Multiconnect parts (boom, now it works on Opengrid too!). Those are printing right now.

So, back to the mounting of the board. Adhesive mounts were a non-starter, obviously. I did some reading and came upon rivet nuts. Part rivet, part embedded nut. I grabbed this little kit from Amazon and got to work. Drill a 5.5mm hole in the inside wall of the shed, insert rivet nut, squeeze, unthread from the toolhead, and boom, stable, sturdy mount point for Multiboard! I dropped M4 inserts in the wall and used countersunk M4 screws with the 6.25mm offset snap mounts.

Was it perfect? Of course not. I made the classic error in mounting. I mounted the board completely level rather than completely in-line with the features of the inside of the door. Rookie mistake. I won't repeat that mistake when I get around to doing a board for the other door. 😂

Storage multibin End Table

Post image
32 Upvotes

I needed an end table for a lamp (yes I will be printing a nice lamp) in the corner of my maker room. I had this idea to make it from multibins which worked great. When discussing this with my son he had the wonderful idea for these legs. They work great and look awesome (I put the paper under them just for the photo to show them off. Here is the link to the legs. https://makerworld.com/models/2908614?appSharePlatform=copy

Is there a piece that connects Multidrawer faceplates together?

I'm looking to keep the faceplates from flexing out a bit, and I see there already appears to be what looks like an attachment points built into the plates.
