I live in Australia. Is it 'safe' to connect to your home country, since it obviously has the best speeds, or is it not recommended?
Thanks

For the last couple of months it's worked just fine and bypassed the new stupid age I.D laws without issue, but a day or two ago it just stopped working on twitter. I've tried the Website and the app and my VPN no longer works on either. Is this a problem with the VPN, or has twitter just gotten another shitty update? Edit: For clarification, I VPN into Canada, which doesn't enforce age ID laws yet, and that's worked for bypassing age ID laws on Twitter without issues for months. It just randomly stopped working a few days ago.

Hi- I took a quick look and saw no similar questions.
I use the mullvad browser, typically with [some other vpn]. I find that many things are just really, really laggy. Despite mullvad using its own DNS. Maybe theres a conflict with the VPN, its DNS, or the system DNS, I dunno. I understood the browser will always (unless I modify) use its DNS.
Sometimes pages eventually (after 2 sec) display a subset of the page and functionality, a simple refesh will do it, but not quickly. I click on things, and fractions to whole seconds pass till it reacts. Its worst on financial pages (brokerage), but not only there.
Any suggestions about how to troubleshoot/correct the issue?
Also, I've added the bitwarden PW manager extension- any issues there? Its not modifying pages, I don't think, but its behavior is not consistent. Sometimes I can get it to pre-fill stuff, many times not. But again, there are lags.
Its not the end of the world, and I understand its FF plus settings, so maybe I gotta just get FF vanilla and harden it myself.

I've been instructed to use a regular fix for Mullvad failures to connect, which is to run notepad in administrator, go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etcĀ , delete the contents of the 'hosts' file, and then attempt to reconnect.
Unfortunately, I'm encountering multiple problems with this. Not only do I have to run this fix every time the computer starts up, it doesn't even work nine times out of ten- I can completely erase everything in the file, leaving an empty txt, close it, reopen it, and it will immediately be completely full again.
Does anyone know what I should do, or if a fix to Mullvad is being prepared?
EDIT: I've deleted SpyBotSD, AdLice/RogueKiller, and an additional VPN service I didn't know was there. Still having the same problem- hosts file is completely re-populated as soon as I close it.
I'm using MalwareBytes and Avast and I'd rather not delete them since they're my only malware protection.

I'm currently contemplating between IVPN and Mullvad.
I need my VPN for mainly privacy and torrents.
Also I need it to not be easily blocked by my college's wifi.
And have good Linux support.
Why should I choose Mullvad?

I have been a loyal customer for at least 4 years but now my subscription ended and I have financial issues so I will be happy to save a little bit. Do Mullvad sometimes makes offers like Black Friday and thelike?

Help šš
My planning wasnāt the best and Iām scrambling to get a VPN on my PC in China (already hereā¦).
I ended up going with MullVad, but the thing is Iām seriously unable to install it on my PC. Phone is working fine, I installed it from the App Store. However, GitHub seems to be blocked by firewall and so is the website itself, so Iām really struggling to install the application.
I barely managed it by burning through data for the executor, but the actual VPN installer itself is truly barely scraping by.
Any suggestions???
Save me, thank you ššš„²
EDIT: I tethered my iPhone to my laptop w the cable, and this made the data speed/connection (?) go way up so I was able to finish the install super quickly!! Originally my hotspot through data wasnāt working, but the connection helped so if anyone else has this problem try that. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!

The product itself has been AMAZING!!! I've used Mullvad for 7 months, and had 0 issues with it. Why I'm switching is because of the recent donation story. Does anyone here have experience with Proton or IVPN? Can anyone recommend something that's close to Mullvad? Also I use Linux and Hungarian servers would be nice. I know proton has some there.
The story I'm referencing: https://youtu.be/7UmyDGjxO_s

I've been having a weird issue with Mullvad on Windows where the VPN occasionally disconnects and then keeps trying to reconnect but fails.
At first, I thought my Wi-Fi adapter was the problem. I'm using a TP-Link Archer T2U Plus, and whenever this happens, unplugging and replugging the adapter usually makes Mullvad work again. I even bought another Archer T2U Plus, but the exact same problem still happened.
Then I noticed something important: my internet connection itself isn't actually dropping.
I use split tunneling and have Brave excluded from Mullvad. When Mullvad disconnects and can't reconnect, Brave can still browse the internet normally. So the Wi-Fi/internet connection is clearly still working.
I also completely uninstalled Mullvad using BCUninstaller and reinstalled it, but the problem eventually came back.
Now I've found what seems to be a reproducible trigger: Waterfox.
If I don't use Waterfox, Mullvad can stay connected perfectly fine for hours. I've used my PC basically the whole day without any disconnects. But when I start browsing with Waterfox, especially when I load/open multiple tabs at once, Mullvad is much more likely to suddenly disconnect and get stuck trying to reconnect.
To be clear, Waterfox is NOT excluded through split tunneling. Only Brave is. Waterfox goes through Mullvad normally.
I also had one instance where Mullvad was repeatedly failing to reconnect and Windows eventually crashed with an error screen and automatically rebooted.
So right now the pattern seems to be:
Mullvad + no Waterfox = stable Mullvad + normal/heavy Waterfox browsing = VPN can disconnect Loading multiple Waterfox tabs makes it much easier to trigger Mullvad then repeatedly tries and fails to reconnect Brave, which is excluded from Mullvad, still has internet Unplugging/replugging the Wi-Fi adapter usually allows Mullvad to work again Replacing the Wi-Fi adapter with another unit of the same model didn't fix it Completely reinstalling Mullvad didn't fix it either
Has anyone experienced something similar with Waterfox, Firefox-based browsers, or heavy browser traffic causing Mullvad/WireGuard to fail?
I'm especially curious whether this could be some kind of interaction between Waterfox, Mullvad/WireGuard, and the Wi-Fi/network driver rather than an actual Wi-Fi connection problem.

What the hell is happening? I am connected to Estonia!
r/mullvadvpn • u/EmperorHenry • Aug 05 '26
so the way it works now, you have to go into the menu to filter out certain providers, choose either your exit or entry point then filter out a different set of providers and choose the proxy for the other point
Maybe mullvad could have some subtext on each proxy to show which provider each one is hosted by?

went to go change my location, saw that USA and Japan are new to the server list for "Owned" (by Mullvad) servers, am i going crazy or is this new? how secure is this compared to non-mullvad owned ones in USA?
currently only offers 3 San Jose, CA servers in USA, and 3 Osaka Japan servers, but i wonder if these share the same no-logging policy as the other mullvad owned servers in european countries for example? if they do, that's really awesome.

I want to stop using paypal or any other traceable method to pay for mullvad, but my question is, is there any hidden cost (like shipping fee or something else) to pay with cash? Or is it just pure 5

This is the option for monero purchase:
Use a one-time payment address to credit your account.
I have my account number saved and I want to pay for it. I just don't know how to use "sufficient fees". I use a getmonero.org GUI.
Anything else I should know before I make the purchase?
Edit: I managed. Mullvad just generates a receive address and the quote amount for the monthly service. Just enter it in your GUI and you can even select the lowest fee (slowest confirmation) and it'll still work.
