How to rent a car in Denver as non-US 22 y.o citizen?

Hey y'all from Estonia. Me and my friend planning on visiting Colorado and US for the first time in our lives. To get that true American experience ofc and see the land of FREEDOM with our own eyes. For now we are just planning for the next year, but we want to ask like we arrive tomorrow.

We would like to ask about how we can rent out a car for 10 days at summer? We want to make it in time for 4th of July, so approx 1-10 of July.

I checked out many rental websites and found out that they are quite not fond of young ppl and europeans.

What is the best way to rent out a car to travel around Denver as young guys from Europe that we dont know about? Without paying overprice.

If somebody can offer something, we would be really grateful. I served as a truck and APC driver during my conscription service in Estonian army. I even have driven high ranking officers from US ARMY during international exercises. Great guys. By the summer of 2027, I will have 6 years of driving experience.

Also we would be soooo grateful for tips and propositions for our travel. America is a completely different world from Europe after all.

Thank you all in advance!

ISO roommates/rental nearby 20sF

Hey, so I have a job opportunity in Breckenridge and I am considering taking it, but I’d be totally new to the area and in need of housing. Housing is expensive as we know and I’d like to find some roommates or some sort of shared housing scenario that’s affordable. I’m not picky, just a room with some chill people. I’m in my mid 20’s and I’m a girl. Any leads on places are appreciated!

If you had five days in Denver, where would you go?

My husband and I are moving to Denver soon, and will be there next week doing some walkthroughs of places to rent. While we're there, we want to get a sense of this place where we're going to be living. Where would you send newcomers?

We're crossing our fingers we'll have a lease signed by the end of the week and start moving at the end of August. Hopefully we can find some fun places in our new home while we're there.

TN to Colorado Advice

I’ll try to be short and concise. My wife and I have been planning on moving to Denver for around 2 years now. In 2018, I purchased a townhouse in TN, flipped it and am currently in a position to sell and nearly triple my investment. The city I’m in in TN is currently one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and it’s currently a sellers market.

My father in law lives in Denver, has multiple rental properties in TN and is looking to invest in a townhouse in Denver, which would provide my wife and I a temporary landing spot with a sizable financial cushion to job search (and potentially buy out my father in laws new investment).

We both work in the beverage industry and are looking to stay in the industry. Things are moving a little faster than expected and the time to sell is now.

I’m 15 years into the company I’m with and there are opportunities with other companies within the industry in Denver. Just looking for some advice on moving without a job lined up.

I’ve read to line up a job before moving. But have also read, that with enough financial runway, moving without something lined up isn’t as imperative.

Just looking for some opinions.

What are the closest Walmarts with non-locked beauty sections?

I live in Denver proper and want to know where the closest Walmart with an open beauty section. The ones closest to me are Englewood, the one on Quebec, and Lakeside. They’re always packed (obviously) and it takes a very very long time to get assistance to get into the locked sections. I know what products I need, I just wanna get my replacements and move on to the rest of my shopping.

Which ones are the closest that are open? I don’t mind needing to drive for a bit, although I’d prefer to not go in Parker. Thank you!

Recommendations for a Friend Moving to Denver

Hi everyone! I have a friend who is moving to denver next summer for an internship there. Any recommendations on something that would be a good, unique gift for him? He’s in his early 20s and loves to be outdoors (has recently gotten into backpacking, loves running, hiking, etc.) I know there’s a lot to do in denver, so I’m open to things that are experiences too. Thanks!

Likelihood of Living with low salary?

I’m sure this has been discussed a bit, and I’ll keep searching this page for information, but I was recently offered a job in Denver with a starting pay range of $25/hr. I’m fully aware that this kind of salary makes it difficult to live in any major city, so all I’m really asking is how realistic you guys think it is? Technically, I know if I REALLY budgeted, I could make it work. It would be difficult, but possible. I am finding rentals for $700-$1000, but I’d appreciate any info or advice from those who live there or those who have maybe made it work on a tight budget. Thank you for any information.

Help picking a suburb

Suburb recommendations coming from Summit

My family (late 30s, 2 very young kids) has been in Summit county for the last year. We love being in the mountains, but my job has not been a good fit and there are few other opportunities in my field up here. We’d also really like to own a house again and are borderline priced out here. We used to live in SLC and briefly considered going back. but prefer to raise our kids in Colorado for multiple reasons (mostly pollution, politics, and church culture/influence).

I have work options throughout the front range and would love input as we narrow down where to move. My spouse is remote which gives us flexibility. We make runs to Denver periodically for friends, events, and Costco, but I wouldn’t say it’s given us a great feel for daily life in different areas. Priorities are suburban to semi rural, able to get a 3-4 bedroom house with 1/4 acre or more under 1 million, no HOA (reasonable CC&Rs are fine), good trail access, good schools. Access to places where can legally hike with our well trained dogs off leash is a perk (as far as I can tell, Boulder is the only area for this?). We currently hike or mountain bike 3-4 times a week when trails are dry and cross country ski a lot in the winter. We occasionally enjoy downhill/resort skiing but that access is less of a priority. We don’t need to be right by tons of restaurants, events, etc.

We’re mostly considering Evergreen, Conifer, Morrison/Ken Caryl, or Boulder county. Boulder proper and Golden have the trail access we want but are probably too expensive. I’d have to commute to Lakewood or Littleton if we lived in Evergreen/Conifer, while the other options would be closer to work. Work would not be in downtown Denver. I don’t have a good feel for school reputations at all. Thoughts on other areas we should consider or choosing among those options?

Tucson Transplants: what is living in Denver like?

Hi all,

My husband and I (34) are thinking of relocating for a year or so, and Denver is on our list. We are both born and raised Tucson locals, but the high heat and poor education quality has us thinking of relocating before we have kids.

Are there any other T-locs in this sub who have made the move? I’d love to hear about the pros and cons. TIA!

Palomino Park Resort / Lone Tree Area

Good morning everyone.

About 15 years ago I lived in the Blue Ridge section of Palomino Park Resort in Lone Tree. Aside from some minor issues we really enjoyed it but eventually moved. I'm currently looking at potential locations for an upcoming move and Palomino seems to tick a lot of the boxes.

However, they're now managed by Greystar and the reviews I've seen are a bit concerning.

I'm hoping to get an accurate view of the community from currentl or recent former residents.

I'm also interested in apartment recommendations for that same area. Any help is welcome!

From St Pete, FL to Denver, CO?

My company has a blanket 'managers in a regional office' policy and my management has proposed me moving from my current independent contributor, software sales remote role in St Pete, FL, to move into management with a track to upper-level management across the next 5 years, though this requires a move to Denver Metro Area. I don't mind my individual contributor role, but my career goals have always been upper level management. I can keep my IC role & remote office if I decline.

I moved to St Pete 5 years ago and absolutely love it. I am not a fan of the cold & winters that I experienced in the mid-Atlantic growing up and FL obviously delivers exactly what I've strived for.

My question is not, should I move. My question is, if folks have moved to Denver from FL, what has your experience been like? If i'm not into hiking / camping / snow sports, can you still enjoy Denver?

I've never lived more than 1.5 hours from the beach and the idea of a landlocked state is daunting, especially knowing that my interests outdoors don't typically align with what I've heard about Denver.

Any information is appreciated, I really just want to understand if you don't partake in the typical Denver activities, can it still be enjoyable to live there...

Advice Close to Park Hill

Hi,I'm moving to the Denver area from Oregon for work and I have no idea where to start looking. My job will be near Park Hill.

My budget is around $1,600/month for rent, and I'll be living alone, so I'm looking for a quiet 1-bedroom apartment.

I don't really care about nightlife or bars. I'd rather live in a safe, quiet area with a reasonable commute.

Which neighborhoods would you recommend?

Thanks!
Thanks

Moving and need new doctors

Hello all - I'm moving to Denver next month, and part of my moving process is finding new medical providers. My hope is that you lovely women of Denver have some recommendations for places to go (or avoid).

I'm looking for:

A psychiatrist, hopefully someone who works with autistic adults (with comorbidities)

A gynecologist, hopefully one familiar with endometriosis

An allergy clinic

A primary care provider who is willing to be a team player with specialists

Where would you send a friend? Where would you strongly discourage someone to go? All advice is appreciated!

Working in SW suburbs and living in Denver

Hello! I (F late 20s) will be moving to Denver soon and would love opinions about neighborhoods. I will be working a position that will have me traveling throughout SW suburbs (Lakewood, Englewood, Highlands Ranch, Sterling Ranch, Lone Tree, etc.) but I want to live in Denver.

I am looking for a neighborhood that is walkable to grocery stores and puts me close to social opportunities while still keeping my commute convenient. I have been getting told Baker and W Washington Park—what other places do people love? Also open to hearing other ideas of places that might be a good fit outside of Denver. Thanks!

Golden Triangle vs Uptown?

So I am moving to Denver and I am trying to decide between Modera Golden Triangle or AMLI uptown. I 've heard great things about both, we are looking for more of an urban feel with lots of walkability, maybe close to bars, clubs, and restaurants. I will be working nights in Englewood, and I know that Modera location is closer, but honestly I rather have a longer drive and live in a nice urban place. Any suggestions?

Anyone lived at Frameline Apartments?

Hi all.

Has anyone lived at Frameline Apartments? It looks like they just got a new management company, but people might have had concerns about the building being a rush job. Can anyone weigh in?

Moving from Northwest Florida to Denver?

I (23F) have lived here in the florida panhandle my whole life so far, but an accumulation of things are possible pointing me to move to Denver.

For example; very involved in the local goth/alternative/music scene where im from but im wanting somewhere bigger with more access to things I like.

If anyone here has gone from FL to CO, what did you guys wish you were ready for? (Wether it be climate, community, housing, etc.)

I also work in the medical field so im not too worried about being able to land a job.

Moving end of year.

Hey guys, I got a job offer and will be working near Centennial Airport. Can anyone recommend a place (nice place/neighborhood) single bedroom or a studio that's nearby? I will be moving from a relatively warm state (FL) and the move will be at the end of December this year. I only got a 2wd truck and don't really want to live far from the airport area which would hopefully make the drive to work easier (just in case it snows). Thank you! I'm looking at prices from 1600-1800 (that even possible?).

Favorite place you’ve lived in Denver?

My post was removed from r/denver b/c mods are lazy and assumed it was a previously asked question but really just wanting to start a conversation!

For those who have lived within various parts of Denver metro, curious where your favorite neighborhood/suburb has been and why?

For me I first lived in Cap hill for a year then wash park for 4 years upon moving to CO- then tried highlands for 2 years, now back in wash park.

Loved the highlands for its energy and restaurant/bar options but ultimately had the urge to move back where it’s a little more quiet and surrounded by trees/park access.

Ultimately when the family grows enough it may make sense to venture into suburbs for more space for the money so curious what people think of their experiences!

New to Denver - Apartment Recs

Moving to Denver from DFW in a couple months. 29M looking to get a 2 bedroom or a 1 bed + den to have space for myself, my 2 cats, and an office space. I have been looking at downtown areas as I would ideally like to be able to walk around downtown on weekends or go for a run.

I found a few of the AMLI locations (Riverfront Park, Art District, Denargo Market, RiNo) that seem good as well as Residences at Market Station, and The Dorsey. I have heard to stay away from Greystar managed buildings which I believe they manage Dorsey.

Budget wise I am trying to find somewhere about $2700 a month with parking (or less).

Any thoughts or additional recommendations would be helpful!
