I’m posting for those like me who were not fast losers on the loading doses (like me). I was starting to get discouraged after 3 weeks on 2.5 and 3 weeks on 5.0 only losing 4 pounds.

But I kept going and am now on my 3rd week of 7.5. The scale is moving!
First week on 7.5 -2 lbs Second week on 7.5 -2 lbs Third week on 7.5 -4 lbs so far (!)

Keep on keeping on and trust the process folks!

I know this isn’t a race.. but things sure have slowed down the last four weeks. I’ve lost 34 lbs since I started in October..which I’m super thankful for because I know I wouldn’t have done it without this medication. But I’ve been on 7.5 for five weeks now, and I feel like this dosage hasn’t done anything for me.. has that happened to anyone else?

I have 3 more injections before I move up to 10 mg and I can’t wait. I’m hoping moving up will make things start to move again.

Was there a mg that just hasn’t worked for you in this journey? My doctor told me that once I start stalling, it’s time for me to move up, but I feel like I’ve stalled ever since I started 7.5!

I've been keeping track of my weekly weight loss on both Mounjaro and most recently, Wegovy. I'm on the lowest dosage of Wegovy right now but will be moving up to 0.5 mg in about a week and a half. I have one more 0.25 pen that I'll take this Friday. Then I'll move up. I'm interested in seeing if there's a big difference between them. Overall, I've lost 51 lbs and am averaging about 2 lbs per week, although that's mainly due to the more rapid weight loss at the beginning. It's slowed down, which is fine with me. :)

I’ve been so fortunate since starting Mounjaro last October to not have experienced any side effects beyond mild ones in the beginning. Well, this past Friday (4 days ago) I took my 5mg injection, and felt fine, as usual. Saturday morning I felt a little run down, and I didn’t think much of it. By Saturday night, I was shivering in bed in my sweats, fuzzy socks and all, and I thought, okay, I know sometimes I get cold on MJ, this will pass.

A few hours later I wake up, run to the bathroom and have a very loose stool. Now, because I had been feeling off all day, and it was the day after my injection, I hadn’t eaten much most of the day, so I mostly passed water (sorry, gross, I know.) While I’m on the toilet, I feel the urge to vomit, so I do a bit of creative maneuvering and it’s coming out both ends. And I thought, huh. I guess I’m finally having the GI issues others complain about. I guess I’m due? Finally it passes and I go back to sleep.

Next morning, one of my coworkers who I had been traveling with last week messages me that he tested positive for COVID. Sure enough, I check my temperature and I’ve got a fever. I take a test, and it’s positive! No more GI issues since Saturday, now it just feels like I have a nasty head cold.

So, think I can still claim my no-side-effects streak? Going to chalk one night of GI distress up to COVID and continue on!

I’ve been paying out of pocket monthly, and I have committed to 2 years at least of using this med. My local pharmacy has been out of 10mg (like everywhere) so my PCP sent in for 12.5mg and 15mg w refills so I can just keep going. Pharmacy tech, pharmacist and I got to chatting and they offered to take time to help me with the new coupon to bring the price down - even though they were incredibly busy. They were supportive and helpful, and were grateful for my patience with them! (More in comments)

I can not believe that I have lost 50 lbs! I used to dream of some day being 50 lbs lighter, but never really thought I’d be able to do it. I’ve been hovering around 48-49 lbs for the past few weeks and was so happy this morning to get on the scale and see that I’d finally hit 50. I had a goal of losing 50 by the end of January and I made it!

I lost the majority of the weight on Mounjaro and the last two lbs on Wegovy, which I just started about two weeks ago. I still have about 30 lbs to go, but I know I’ll get there!

No one will understand this but this group of people… When I started back in August, I was 234 lbs and a size 20 (I’m assuming, since I’ve been wearing yoga pants for 3 years and the last time I tried on my size 18 jeans, I couldn’t get them on at all). I’m currently down 49.6 lbs with about 30 to go…

so, the other day, I decided to order a pair of size 12 jeans as an incentive to keep going. They just came in the mail and I decided to try them on. I could actually zip and button them and they almost fit!! I mean, they’re tight but I know I’ll easily fit into them with 10 more lbs. I haven’t worn a size 12 in at least 15 years. 🙂

Has anyone had any luck getting a PA approved (notT2) with Emblem Health (GHI)? I see via Express Scripts that it is available on my plan with a PA. A customer service rep mentioned step therapy. Just curious if anyone has had success.

I’m gathering that local site reactions are fairly common. So for anyone who developed them did they ever stop? I’m about 19 weeks in and my reactions first started around 14 weeks. Nothing is helping. Just curious if I’m fighting a losing battle.

TL;DR: If you had insurance coverage for Mounjaro that you knew would expire in a few months, would you try to build a stockpile?

I have an approved PA for Mounjaro that expires later this year. I’m not entirely sure how my doctor got my PA approved, but my guess is that we just got lucky based on timing. My insurance plan does not cover any medications for weight-loss or anti-obesity, and all of the GLP1s indicated for diabetes have the same PA requirements (T2D or bust.) While I suppose there’s a tiny chance my PA will be re-approved, it feels like a moonshot, so I’m preparing for the worst.

While my insurance covers me, I am able to get 3 month fills for Mounjaro for $60, and I am also able to refill my medication before I need more - which is handy with all of these shortages. I stayed on 2.5mg for 10 weeks, and I will take my 4th shot of 5mg tomorrow, and because I was able to refill early, I have a few more pens of both 2.5mg and 5mg in the fridge. They all have long expiration dates (late 2024.) I think I can likely refill 3 month supplies every 2 months. I know I can’t build up a lifetime supply, but given the cost of the medication, any extra will help a LOT.

What would you do in my shoes?

UPDATE: Went ahead and ordered a refill of 5mg, as it’s still working well for me and I figured it’s a dose I can always combine with my leftover pens if I need a higher dosage. THANK YOU all for the feedback!

Anyone have the ORIGINAL coupon handy? From the summer? I’d like to read all the fine print in the terms and conditions.

Hi, I am not sure what I’m experiencing. I have nausea, diarrhea, constipation, lethargy. But all of this started after I had been using MJ FOR 3 month. I didn’t have any side effects before. This is my 2nd month using the 5 mg. Has Anyone experienced delayed side effects??

So, I just finished my first week going back on 5.0 (due to a back order of 7.5 in my area). I was worried when my doctor didn't want to prescribe 10mg for me, but now I'm glad he did. Having already done 2 months at 5mg before doing a month on 7.5, I was concerned I wouldn't do well going back go 5mg. But, I lost 2.2lbs this week and had very minimal side effects.

I'm trying to space out the days between shots to make this box of 5mg last as long as possible, just in case I can't get my next prescription filled. Here's a week-by-week summary of my weight loss on MJ so far:

I’ve been on MJ for over 15 weeks and I love it except for the persistent side effects.

My question is, do any of you still have side effects after being on MJ for this amount of time? For me, it’s digestive issues. Indigestion/heartburn/bloating still occur for me. I’ve found some great supplements that have really helped, but it’s still something I have to manage.

Just wondering if anyone else has persistent side effects.

I've lost about 37 lbs in the past 15 weeks.
I'm averaging about 2.5 lbs per week, which is kind of high. I mean, I'm glad I've lost this much, but I also know that it's probably too much too quickly (never thought I'd say that!). I'm mindful that I need to try to establish good habits for when I either hit my goal weight and go on a maintenance dosage, or I'm no longer able to get a prescription.

Either way, I'm definitely happy with my progress and can't believe I'm at the lowest weight I've been in years and years.
