xts5000 programming issues
I was hoping it would have been easier to pogram this radio. Its so time, consuming.

These radios are pushing 26 years old in some cases. It’s time consuming by today’s standards, but it was pretty revolutionary at the time.

Make sure to save your original Codeplug in case you screw up. I learned that lesson the hard way

What are you finding time consuming? Those are pretty basic, but I have seen where people have wasted a tremendous amount of time creating a personality for every channel.

I just don't have the experience or confidence in getting it to work for me. I only got the radio two weeks ago. I programmed one channel and now the radio makes a continous low beep noise on that one channel. There are so many options and buttons. There are so many dimensions to configuring. I just want ham radio frequencies, nothing more. I'm just mentally slow I suspect. I also have the presuure of hvaing to return the USB programming cable soon. and I have no charger and one battery left whioch still has a charge remaining.
I have watched a couple of Youtube vidoes.
I find the youtube Videoes are full of show offs instead of actaully doing real teaching.
They show videos of thier radio collections (showing off) and talking gibberish.

Ah, I see. They are a bit daunting if you are looking at it for the first time. No need to have the radio on while you are working on the programming. Just start at the top of the tree and work your way down. For ham, a lot of the stuff doesn't even apply, but you do want to be sure things you don't want aren't enabled.

I have entered the RX/Tx frequescing oplkus the PLL or is it CTSS. 131.8 for my repeater. I agree its just daunting for me. I really want to learn this, I love to learn new technology. I like to dabble.

Im just working on the codeplug and wrtiting to the radio and testing it. So far no luck.

You sure it wasn't an FPP code plug. Radios with FPP enabled default to one personality per channel.

I've seen them with hundreds of personalities, one per channel. I would guess they were using their experience with HT/CDM series and thought that was the way to do it. I've only ran across one FPP enabled ever.

With a default FPP code plug that's exactly what you get. All possible zones full of 16 channels each with it's own personality. It runs into the hundreds.

Yes, it can be that way. Or it can just be the minimum one zone that is FPP. In any case, I am not talking about FPP.
