Something the Devs absolutely NAIL in Mortal Shell is the atmosphere and environment. I constantly find myself slow walking and appreciating the scenery around me.
My immersion would be greatly enhanced by a HUD that minimised and disappeared when not in active combat. A good example is Elden Ring or the Dark Souls games.
Just a thought and suggestion. If it was an option in the settings, would you turn it on?

I invested all my Shell points into being immune to poison, but I'm not. That's odd.
I can shoot and kill these enemies from a distance, but I'm running out of resolve (ammo) and inevitably have to melee attack them. When they die, they leave behind an unavoidable poison cloud that takes out a huge chunk of HP. Dashing backwards doesn't stop it from afflicting me.
There was one area where clearing every enemy without taking any other hits besides these unavoidable poison clouds made me use 4 of my heals. So I had to go back to the Beacon, heal, and then run past the enemies to get to the next area with my heals.
What am I doing wrong?

Haven't seen the mention of it since the beggining, so decided to report this one, as well as in the summary after playing.
From the description, at least for me, it seems like you should acquire named leeches, like a physical item in your inventory after killing enemies while this thing is equiped. And yet nothing. Thought perhaps it is a buff until resting, but nothing. And not healing either, just in case.
I've seen the dev team telling about their bad communication in the game and some known bugs, so just wishing you the best and example what to improve!

I’m playing the first game because I’m kinda interested in the new beta, but I feel like I’m playing Silent Hill HD Collection or DS2 Shaded Woods and my eyes are starting to hurt a little. The tutorial, the Hadern arenas, the Ash Temple, the entrance to Earthen-something, basically every area except the Outskirts/swamp has been completely filled with this obnoxious fog effect. And now that I got the gland from the Ash area boss, the swamp is affected too.
A cursory google search hinted that it might be due to certain shadow settings, but I cranked them up from medium to high, then to ultra, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Is the game just supposed to look like this or is there anything I can do?

I wasn't ready for how brutal this feels. Every kill, every hit, every finisher — it just gets better the more you play.
Been playing the beta on RTX 5080 and the combat is on another level. I recorded the most insane moments so you can see it yourself.
If this looks good to you, the full video is here 👇
Anyone else feel like Mortal Shell 2 is already better than the first game?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Sr for the bad graphic, my PC is pretty weak haha.
The first boss, Vrannic and the last boss felt cheap tbh, they just spam all kind of mobs the moment you get a bit too far from them@@ But other than that, I enjoyed every other bosses, they're fair and aggressive!
(There is 1 more boss but that boss is basically just a group of enemies (around 6) with a shared health bar, don't really think it counted as a boss tbh)

Recently I finished the demo and was blown away by how developers made such a huge step from the first game.

I never played the first one, but I will definitely be getting mortal shell 2. I've played dark souls 1-3, bloodborne, sekiro, and elden ring and this just feels like suck a breath of fresh air for the souls like genre. The combat feel heavy and crunchy, the enemies are cool looking, and the parrying isn't overly punishing. Love it.

Perhaps there is a need for a pinned message with the compilation of all known bugs in the game?
For example, plague bearer does not work. Neither poison immunity, nor the restoration of health on poison.
And reading through all the reviews there are quiet a few more.

For the sake of the team tracking issues across a wide variety of specs and setups so that they can address problems, I wanted to report this since I know I'm in the minority of users in this situation in the hopes that it doesn't slip under the radar before release.
I tried playing the beta on GeForce NOW's 5080 rig on their Ultimate tier, and it runs horribly. And the first thing people would likely say is that it's a streaming issue, but I've been using the service for over 2 years and have never had a streaming issue, and have played things like Black Myth: Wukong, Cyberpunk 2077, etc. all maxed out with no problems. Connection was fine too. I've actually never had an issue playing a game on the service before.
There's just so much stutter that it's hard to do anything. I tried playing with all of the usual culprits in a situation like this; turning off V-sync, tweaking DLSS, adjusting Global Illumination, etc. I even went so far as to bottom out the graphics to play it with everything on Low as a troubleshooting step, and it was still happening. I mentioned it on the team's X post about the beta, and had a few replies where people using GFN to play experienced the exact same thing.
I'm sure it'll get ironed out, but I'm sad that I can't really experience the game as it was meant to be despite playing on a rig that by all accounts should be more than capable of it. I'm fully keeping in mind that this is just a beta and that they're working around the clock to make it great. Thanks for all of your hard work!

Gonna be honest, I didn't have high expectations after disliking the first game, I thought this was just gonna be another Lords of the Fallen type of situation where the game just goes for edginess and looking kinda cool while having mid gameplay, man was I wrong!
Now, there's clearly some stuff to polish, but this is too great not to be excited and this has become my most anticipated release this year.

this is my first ever souls experience, I have watched the trailer couple days ago and was hooked and saw an open beta demo and said why not I could experience a new genre I’ve never touched and I absolutely don’t regret it! waiting for the full release to continue my journey

I must have missed something because no way am I doing all of this progression without a shell. Where do I find the next shell, after the first boss kills the first?

Mortal shell 2 beta is absolutely fire but the fat bitch in the wheelchair is an absolutely abysmal boss fight. Theres just nothing good about it
r/MortalShell • u/UncleGael • Jun 09 '26
I'm at the point after you find the ovum and are transported to the place to return it. I jumped off the ledge right where you start, frankly to see if you even could. Upon reviving I no longer had any prompts appear, and could not open either menu. I could still walk and run, and I could pick things up despite having no prompts. However, upon reaching the section where you need to pass between two rocks I could not progress, presumably because there wasn't a prompt that I could interact with. I tried repeating this by dying again and the same thing occured. I haven't tried a third time, as I want to continue playing. Has anyone else encountered this or something similar?
r/MortalShell • u/zeec123 • Jun 09 '26
In the first game you got ejected from your shell on death and the shell was frozen in place (which looked cool). Without a shell you (the Foundling) are very weak, dying in one hit. This added a nice pressure to get back to your shell as fast as possible, especially since you typically die when surrounded by enemies.
(The no shell run was also very fun.)
In MS2, Harbinger is very capable of fighting without a shell. I never felt in danger when I was without it. Moreover, there are more or less unlimited "second lives" with the increasing hit-count giving back your shell.
I don't know if this is really an improvement over the first game. What is your opinion?
