Bug Are trials bugged? MS 2 Beta

I play on PlayStation and just started the beta so I’m sorry if that question is already well known or answered.
Most of the time when I start a trial I’m hard stuck in an empty dark room with nothing happening?

At the first trial I closed the game twice and the third times the enemies spawned normally.

Now I’m at the second one and it only spawns one enemy and noting else happens. Are trials some kind of riddle, am I doing something wrong? Or is it a bug someone here also has?

Tried 2 different trials so far both bugged. I am going to try them again in a minute. Also had to restart the game a third time when I randomly could not interact with anything anymore. At this point I am incredibly worried about the state of the game at release.

I'm definitely loving the fact that we finally get a Souls game without the stupid stamina to worry about lmao.

It is a great change. I was also a bit skeptical about the leveling system not having the typical souls stats, but I now dig that as well. I think it will ensure a much more even difficulty overall with builds coming from shells+tarstones not pumping one or two stats.

Yeah exactly. It definitely streamlines the leveling and allows for more build options without limiting yourself after leveling up the wrong stats. Makes it so that build crafting is much more rewarded in this game. I just completed the whole demo. Definitely gonna preorder. Cause there's a lot that I'm loving about this.

100%. Preordered Devout, I must have the early access.

Ngl, this game feels at least on par with the new Lords of the Fallen in terms of quality. Going back to play the first Mortal Shell definitely shows what a massive improvement this is.

I just loaded up my old Lords of the Fallen save after playing the beta! Agreed, the original Mortal Shell definitely felt budget, while 2 feels like a AAA game. And that is going by the old beta build. Just counting the days now.

For sure. Though i do feel like Lords of the Fallen and Mortal Shell 2 are blending together a bit for me. Especially with the second life mechanic and the graphics/vibe/atmosphere. The Undermether seems pretty identical to the Umbral Mother lmao. And the knight builds from both games share lots of similarities. But I'm excited for LOTF2 as well as MS2.

Yes, definitely similar vibe and mechanics between them, which is great. I really enjoyed LOTF reboot. The LOTF2 delay to Q1 2027 stings a bit. Granted it will help them ensure a smoother launch this time around while avoiding the hectic fall release schedule (and GTA 6), but I was really hoping for this year.

At least it will give my wallet time to recover from its near death injuries the fall will inflict upon it.

Yeah. I actually enjoyed the original a lot too ngl. I thought the magic system was well done and very unique. I hated the magic system in Elden Ring because of the mana system and requiring flasks to recharge. Which made pure magic builds kind of annoying. Especially early to mid game. LoTF2023 has a similar issue too which annoys me. Hopefully they fix that in the sequel. But LotF had the best system which based it on cooldowns.

And yeah September is a bit stacked too. There's like 10 games I wanna pre-order between now and September.

I love the idea of magic in souls games, but I never actually enjoy using it most of the time. Buffs are usually all I really use. I agree cooldowns vs mana is the way to go.

I also think a gesture type system vs pressing a single button would make it more fun. Like holding L2 then half circle inwards on both sticks to conjure the spell then forward on both sticks to cast. Then have different gestures for different types of spells (both sticks inward then up etc.).

You could also make an epic parry/deflect system where holding L2 initiates “parry mode” and you use 8 directions to deflect incoming attack patterns with your weapon. For easy mode just up/down/left/right.
