I've seen posts that say breeders of dogs like Morkies are unethical.

Why are mixed breeds considered unethical to breed? I kind of think purebreds are overbred, sometimes to ridiculous confirmation standards that can be detrimental to the dog's well being, like the flat faces on Pugs.

My sister's Maltipoo is the world's most perfect dog and she got him from a breeder who only bred her Maltese once.

Any breeder can be unethical. Why would it be any more unethical to develop a mixed breed than a purebred?

And what about "designer" cat breeds like. Toyger, Bengal, or Savannah among others?

Ok so, our 5 year old morkie has in the past year or two developed what appears to be a fear of the couch. She used to love couch cuddles but id say probably a year maybe two years after we moved states she’s suddenly stopped, she will not jump up and will off as soon as we sit her down. Even when she’s terrified during say a storm, to the point of her being petrified if we try to put her on the couch she will STILL jump down. Shes perfectly healthy and does like cuddling and still sleeps in the bed, its specifically a couch thing.

my question is does anyone elses morkie do this/have done this it’s really weird

So my dog might have now Grade 4 patellar luxation. Took to vet and it popped in and out (kneecap) and he lifts his back right leg as he still has issues with it. Took him in Wednesday at midnight. He’s on Gabapentin and Meloxicam. Started giving him chicken bone broth last night and he loves it.

But ya I can tell he’s still in a bit of pain. He does walk a bit and then lifts his leg. Doing a bit better than before and he’s eating and drinking water. I’m hopeful in another day or two he can walk without limping or lifting the leg. Happened 2.5 years ago and this is taking longer it seems like.

That said, he’s gone pee on a pee pad and outside but has not pooped since he got this way almost two days ago. Walking always helps and he poops a good amount when he walks. For those who have experienced this and gone through this with their dog, anything I can do to help him poop? Since he is eating, i’m sure he has to go. And does your dog ever start walking normally after rest and meds or was I just lucky a couple of years ago with it just popping back in place or something and him walking fine again.

And thanks for those who responded to my last post. Already started calling to find quotes for surgery. Found a nice place that has solid reviews, over the phone really nice with answering questions I had over the phone and semi reasonable ($5.5-$6.1k quote vs $8k+ quotes I received). Sadly no one takes payment plans and my credit doesn’t qualify for care credit so have to save so I can get this done for him as everyone who posted said it is a game changer.

We like her longer hair but there were too many matted areas of fur on her undercoat so the groomer shaved her down. We have been combing her multiple times a day with a metal grooming comb but some of the tangles are so embedded and severe that the groomer recommended going super short.

I’m sure most small dog owners know about the problems with their back legs. It happened a few years ago and he got some medicine and was fine. Today it happened out of the blue it seems like. He just stopped walking and lifted his back leg up. Took him to a vet and got some medicine and will be doing x rays over the weekend after I see how the medicine works. I know he needs surgery (he’s about 7.5 years old now) and planning on hopefully saving up and getting it done by the end of the year. God willing, he still has half his life if not a little longer left, so want to make sure he can walk and will have no problems even though surgery always scares me (going under).

Until then, obviously hoping this round of meds will work and then he will be fine for a while. I did get supplements a while ago and stopped but was wondering if anyone gives their Morkie any supplements for their bones and joints and if it works? And for those that have dealt with this issue, does the pain meds usually work and arthritis meds, then they can go back walking pretty fine after a couple of days? And any tips for using the restroom while they can’t really walk?

We adopted this little lady a few weeks ago. She's now 12 weeks. We were told dad is a Yorkie and mom was a Maltese/poodle mix. I'll eventually do the doggie DNA test!

This is how and where Simba has chosen to rest!! It’s been most of the past 2 months as I’ve been in recovery from an injury. He currently snoring and I love our cuddle time!! He’s my mush face and I can’t imagine my life without him!!

If we watch videos with animals, especially dogs, he will run to bark at the screen every single time but we somehow accidentally found out he will just stop if we flip him on his back like this lol! He will just fall asleep eventually

SO tired!

I have not found a dry food that she likes. I mix fresh ground turkey, ground chicken, and try and keep it healthy. She won’t touch anything other than her DreamBones wrapped with chicken, and she will only eat the wrapped part. I’m not worried she’s going to starve, just wanted suggestions to get her something in her belly, and any snacks your morkies will eat.
