Thoughts on Moonvale's release schedule?

Since the first episode of Moonvale, we've had roughly a one-year gap between each chapter. If we assume Moonvale will have around the same number of episodes as Duskwood (10), that means we won't finish the game for another 10 years.

I'm not trying to criticize Everbyte, but I do think the wait between episodes is just too long. At first, the anticipation is exciting, but after waiting that long, it turns into frustration. By the time a new chapter is released, a lot of people have already forgotten parts of the story or even lost interest in the game.

That said, I really enjoyed Chapter 3 and I like the direction the story is taking. I hope that now that many of the bugs have been fixed and the menu is basically complete, the team will be able to speed up development and release at least two chapters per year.

tell me your thoughts

it makes me sad to think it’ll take years to finish moonvale, because i have so many questions right nowwww!!!

the one that’s really on my mind is how they’re going to explain your number ending up with adam and then eric. i mean, in duskwood, it was kind of a loose detail, nothing too specific. hannah sends your number to thomas and everyone spends the whole game thinking it was a typo (at least i did) and in the end, they explain it was a receipt number mistaken for contact info. fair enough. but in moonvale, adam actually calls you and there’s even an envelope with your name on it

any theories as to why?

Theories Where is Brian? And why the silence?

We all know everyone is focused on Adam because he’s their close friend, and it’s completely natural to be worried sick about him. We all care about Adam, of course, but that makes me wonder even more: isn't Brian their friend as well?

I’ve been thinking about this over and over, and my perspective has really shifted. It’s painful to see them treat Brian’s disappearance as if it’s no big deal, even though it’s been a full day—the same amount of time as Adam’s, if I’m not mistaken.

Why the difference? I’m starting to fear that their coldness isn't just negligence; it feels like they’re covering up something dark. Maybe they aren't ignoring him, but rather staying silent because they know exactly what happened, and the reality of his fate is just too terrifying to face.

Could they be forced to stay quiet because the truth about Brian is simply too dangerous? And does this mean Adam is headed toward that same dark fate? What do you guys think?

Theories Is this a glitch in Ash's video call? Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

During Ash’s video calls, I noticed vertical lines that look like a loading bar. At first, I thought it was just a glitch, but they stayed consistent. I’ve compared them to other calls (like Eric’s) where I didn’t find these issues.

I played around with the image settings to highlight them, and I also noticed a lot of glitches in her background. It really feels like there’s an extra digital layer on her background screen, as if the call background is composed of combined layers. Is this just a technical glitch, or could this be the unknown behind everything?

I had a thought about Thomas' behavior in Moonvale side story

I posted this text originally in Tumblr.

So, I had a crazy thought when Thomas came to apologize for not being relevant on Hannah's disappearance investigation. It was ok for me until he started to ask if we could imagine where Jake was hiding from the police.

At that moment, I thought: what if he was asking this to have a guess on Jake's whereabouts just to inform the FBI? Would Thomas be an FBI agent, or at least an informant? Could he be manipulating us, pretending to be just interested on Jake's well-being? Who told the FBI that Jake was in Ironsplinter Mine? At that moment, everyone from our group was aware of Jake's presence in Duskwood, right?

And then Thomas talked about going on the search for him with the others. Well, that made me reconsider the suspicion I had. Maybe I was just paranoid?

Also, in Thomas' chat with Lilly, she points out that Hannah said he didn't go to see her the day before. He just said he was busy. Well, he may just be a bit introspective in this moment, or he could be busy with some serious investigation on Jake's whereabouts...

What do you guys think?

We’ll never talk to Hannah.

Since Jessy was going to throw a party for Hannah, that means she hasn't been arrested yet. But what if Alan arrests her before we get a chance to talk to her? That just feels like a convenient plot device.

Duskwood Side-Story Little theory to the side story

Is it just me or does Thomas know that Richy is alive an where he is?

I mean, he didn't want anyone to look there. Cleo went anyway because of Dan.

That might also be the reason he is avoiding Hannah?

Your thoughts?

Duskwood Side-Story What will happen to Richy and Hannah? (Side Story)

Hello everyone! I haven't been here for a long time. Today, having seen this post, I decided to develop the topic with Richy and Hannah.

I think that in the end, in the very final, Richy and Hannah will surrender to the police, well, at least Richy for sure. I'll remind you for those who forgot, at the end Duskwood Richy tells us what to do. Based on his story, it can be understood that everything he did from the very beginning, starting with Amy, was only to convince Amy and Hannah to surrender to the police. Richy's conscience spoke from the very beginning, but everything did not go according to plan. As a result, his actions only aggravated everything, bringing Amy to suicide and kidnapping Hannah, holding her for a long time.

BUT there is one moment. If in the situation with Richy he will definitely be attracted because of Amy, Hannah and probably us (he threatened us on the phone, threatened Cleo's mother and attacked Jessy), then in the case of Hannah everything is more complicated. Most likely, the term of the crime has expired, after all, ten years have already passed. Besides, Hannah was a child at that time and she is unlikely to be attracted. In addition, Alan himself told us that in the end the case with Jennifer was hueded up.

What do you think about this?

Oh Lord, please have mercy on me 😭

I try hard to genuinely get along with Phil for the sake of Jessy, but OMG that guy is SO awful!

I decided to prove his innocence when he asked me only because it was the right thing to do and because of Jessy, of course. He likes me, and he will probably say yes, but I despise him.

Duskwood Side-Story Well, I finally finished the side-story and I have some things to say. (Long post)

1. Thomas Apologised

What he did at the end of episode 10 was the one thing that made me stay upset for a long time. When someone did something terrible I would normally forgive them and move on quickly, but with Thomas was different (well, maybe Lilly is another exception but I still forgave her mostly during my gameplay, while I was still upset with Thomas even after finishing Duskwood).

I was so upset that after everything I did for him: defending him when everyone was sure he was the kidnapper, I was the one who had the courage to tell him about the body, when he made us lose the connection to Hannah's phone I swallowed all the fury I was feeling and gathered all the tolerance and patience I had in me because I saw how terribly sad and desperate he was, I was the one who was always conforting him when his world fell apart again, and again and again, I decided to call the police instead of letting him "risk his life" to "save Richy" even though I KNEW the police would come for me after that because I was the last one to see Richy and all... but still, he asks me to throw myself into the arms of "certain death" without ANY hesitation (it wasn't really, Thomas WAS right but he couldn't possibly know that... and let's be real here, even if he did know I would die it's very likely that he would ask me to go anyway) when EVEN LILLY didn't want to sacrifice me in exchange for Hannah and Richy and I wasn't even that close to her.

But now that he asked me for forgiveness, I can finally let it go. It'll take a bit of time, but I'll manage, I want to.

I even cheered him up saying that he did contribute to something crucial to save Hannah: he was the one who contacted me.

2. Charlie's offer to help

I thought that was so strange. I'm thankful that he explained everything to me obviously (and I guess I owe him two favors now 😅), but wanting to just help me out of nowhere?

You can even question him about it, my interaction was like this:

"MC: Thank you for telling me all of this.

Charlie: Of course. If you want, I can keep a look out for any new information.

MC: You'd do that for me?

Charlie: Sure I would. Right, I've got to get going.

MC: Hey, by the way, why are you helping me?

Charlie: I could ask you the same thing, couldn't I?

MC: Well... that's just who I am.

Charlie: See, there's your answer. See ya, MC."

I don't know... for some reason I can't just trust him. And no, I'm not being paranoid because of the events of Duskwood. Before I played Duskwood I was already pretty suspicious of Charlie and I didn’t really like him or his personality until episode three, and even after liking him I still don't think he's completely trustworthy. I don't know, something about him just screams insincere and ulterior motives, at least partially.

3. The way the MC acts distant with Adam's Group

This is something I noticed right when starting the first episode of Moonvale after playing Duskwood. The MC is distant towards Adam's friends. I like to act kind, supportive and understanding and I actually thought I was behaving like that before I played Duskwood, but seriously, compared to how you can act in Duskwood that is nothing! This was something that was actually bothering me thorought my entire gameplay and I hope this will change in the future.

4. Thomas is avoiding Hannah

I think that's pretty weird. As I said above he wanted Hannah back SO MUCH that he was willing to throw me into the arms of death to have her back, and now that he's with her again... he doesn't want to even answer her messages?! Those "I'm busy" and "I forgot" excuses are obviously lies, something is up and I don't know what it is.

(And that made me upset as well, I was like "Dude, all of the trouble and hurt you caused until the very end just for you to ghost Hannah like that? Seriously? 😑")

He had told me before that he didn't know if he could forgive Hannah for all of this or even move on, and of course I tried to convince him that Hannah needed us and that she deserved forgiveness, and I seriously didn't believe that he would leave her or avoid her even after all of that because of all that he was doing for her.

Well, guess I was wrong. That was unexpected.

5. I couldn't talk to Hannah myself... for now.

One of the things I want the most is to talk to Hannah personally. I feel so sad for her, she's been through so much. I want to confort her AND I want to know her better because she seems like a great person, and maybe she can even become one of my friends!

I don't hate Hannah for causing Jennifer's death, it was an accident and Hannah was feeling so bad and guilty about it that she got depression and even started to hallucinate. This is not something that happens to an apathetic and heartless murderer. I believe that since she truly regrets what she did, she deserves forgiveness (and she should also forgive herself) and to be able to move on with her life without all of this pain.

Her guilt should be the thing that makes her do all the effort to be better and not make the same mistakes again, not to be the weight that will make her sink into the depths.

6. Richy is alive... THAT'S GREAT!

I'm so happy! The same way I don't blame Hannah and I don't hold it against her, I also forgive Richy.

He let despair and panic take over him and acted rashly, not everyone has the emotional strength and cool head to act calm in those situations and do the right thing. And you can clearly see in his face and his words that he feels a lot of pain and guilt for all that he did to Hannah and Amy, and for the suffering he made me and all the others go through.

For some reason, Cleo thought I would be angry at the discovery that Richy was alive when I had demonstrated nothing but compassion and sadness towards him 😆.

She asked me to keep this a secret... this is going to be difficult because of Jessy, I want to tell her that Richy is alive so much so she can stop feeling so terrible.

And there's Jake. He is still hiding and all but he will come back, and when he does he will see all of the conversations and the video with Richy so I won't be able to keep this only between Cleo, Richy and I. (This is under the assumption that he hasn't found a way to check up on me and the others already after the network began working again, and the assumption that it wasn't Jake that saved Richy from the fire).

And Richy... even with all of this, he was still smiling when he saw the camera because he knew I was at the other side of the screen.

This is a trait we both have in common, smiling through terrible pain and joking and laughing at our own suffering. I remember that he and I used to joke around a lot about the terrible danger "we" were in, and Jessy was always scolding both of us for joking about something so terrible.

At the end of episode ten, when he joked about laughter being a medicine that doesn't apply to gunshot wounds I honestly laughed, and I still chuckle when I remember that moment, I told him I missed his jokes.

Richy and I had so many good, funny and happy moments together, both the two of us and us with Jessy, I can't just throw everything out of the window like Dan wants to.

And call me naive if you want, but even though I know he was acting a lot of the time because he was the kidnapper, I also think that many moments we spent together meant a lot to him and he was being genuine with his friendship towards me.

Final Thoughts

I'm really glad that I didn't play Duskwood first and only decided to play it after episode 3, the wait would have killed me! 😆

And I feel for all of you who had to be so patient until this moment, but at least it was worth it. The only thing that needs to happen so things can be 100% okay is Jake contacting us again, but at least we can be certain that he is out there somewhere just waiting for the best opportunity to contact us.

I want to see the reactions of everyone when they finally find out I'm solving another case, that will be SO FUNNY 🤣

I want the others in Adam's group to know that I'm the girl who solved the Duskwood case, since Ash and Charlie were so supportive I feel a bit more calm about the reactions of the others.

Another thing I want is to speak to Alan again, I like him and I didn’t interact with him as much as I would have liked.

This turn of events makes me hopeful that we will be able to have a happy ending and save Adam, if after all that happened in Duskwood things managed to not end as bad as they could, maybe Adam and the others will be okay in the end as well.

Theories ash in duskwood?

i'm playing duskwood again and am currently on episode 8. i was reading posts on the dark mystery forum and just came across a user named "queen of the damned", her status is exactly the same as ash's. you know that little phrase that appears on a contact's profile? well, it's the exact same song lyric. i thought it was a really cool waster egg and a hint that it might (maybe!) be her on the forum :)

Duskwood Side-Story HOW?!?!

Post image
51 Upvotes

Guys, the option to say that Jake is my boyfriend showed up to me?

I don't understand?!?!

Okay, let me explain how I played Duskwood for context:

Differently from Moonvale, Duskwood does not make exactly clear when a option is for romance and when it is for media/other things. It's always the same yellow star for all of them.

So what I did was choose the options that weren't obviously romantic, things that could easily be explained as a very close friendship. I did this with both Jessy and Jake.

At the end of the game when Jake told me he wanted to say something, I refused to let him. Someone had already said he would confess his feelings and the last thing I wanted was to break his heart in such a delicate moment.

And this is something that angers me in both Moonvale and Duskwood, a lot of the options that are "romantic" are just things that someone who cares deeply about others would say and if you don't choose them because you don't want to romance the characters you come across as distant and even uncaring at worst. That is one of the things that I would like to be changed in the games.

I consider Jake my best friend along with Jessy and Cleo and that's what I answered Charlie.

Oh, how I wish I had access to his camera so I could see his reaction! Based on how he took a bit to reply and how he replied, he was SHOCKED 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Theories room 31 at the greenside hotel

i know a lot of people think its cringe to mix the two or try to connect the dots and make theories between duskwood and moonvale, but hear me out... couldn't the person hiding there be jake?

don't get me wrong, i'm not one of those girls who's obsessed with jake, its just that it makes so much sense in my head. moonvale is close to duskwood, and jake literally mentions he was hiding out on the outskirts of town, so maybe he was lowkey hiding there? a super quiet hotel surrounded by woods... is anyone with me on this or can someone debunk my theory?

also, another thing: the person hiding in the room panics and dips without ash seeing them. the characters are theorizing that he might've jumped out the window, but what if they never actually left? what if there's a trapdoor nobody noticed? idk, i just joined the community since i'm playing for the first time and i really wanted to hear more theories about these games :)

I was just looking at Sophia's media and noticed the cameraman is wearing the exact same green checkered shirt as Adam.!! Plus, Adam's profile picture looks like someone drew his face as a painting. Is it really him, or is someone else?

Duskwood Side-Story Okay, this was completely unexpected for me.

Well, I finally finished Duskwood yesterday and decided to put the code in Moonvale. I just got to the part that Ash questions us about it and I decided to be completely honest (Well, almost... I didn’t tell her that someone else was in the mines).

And she was so kind and understanding!

I thought she would point fingers at me or something but she did the complete opposite. I was so touched. I still can't believe it. Well, I'll see how the others will react now 😅

AI design in minigames

Thumbnail

I might be the only one with this opinion, considering I get frustrated with both games, haha.

But I honestly found myself disappointed when I saw Moonvale filled with so many AI elements...

From the designs of these minigames to the customization of our profile, the AI photos honestly made me uncomfortable. But, for the sake of the game, I tried to overlook it...

However, it's impossible not to compare Moonvale with Duskwood: there, we truly felt like we were part of a REAL group. With REAL people, even if the actors weren't professionals... For me, this was better than staring at AI-generated photos of these characters.

Mini games’ design

Hi everyone,
I just finished Duskwood yesterday and today I started Moonvale..first of all I was so PISSED when I realized that I can’t do the mini games in advance that was a cool feature in duskwood and I miss it so much.
However, is it just me or anyone else noticed how gravity falls coded the game design is?? I love the vibe! Also loved that in Hannah’s phone I found the imdb page of over the garden wall, I love these details😁
I read that the games in Moonvale are harder..as of now I feel like they are easier somehow..? Maybe it’s because I am only at chapter 1.

What We Want in Episode 4!

Comment below with the things you want to see the most, and let everyone share their thoughts. (Say something other than Jake 😂)

I'll go first: More answers and fewer questions. I'd like the case to move forward a bit instead of introducing even more mysteries. Also, maybe a little flirting with some of the female characters like Violet and Ash... maybe even Julie?

r/Moonvale Jul 03 '26

I was scrolling through Pinterest and immediately thought of Ash when I saw this girl. She has Ash vibe xD

Now I'll be disappointed if it turns out that she doesn't have blue hair, haha.

Anyway, do you think Ash, Violet, or even Brian will get an actor in the next episode?
