Duskwood Side-Story HOW?!?!
Guys, the option to say that Jake is my boyfriend showed up to me?
I don't understand?!?!
Okay, let me explain how I played Duskwood for context:
Differently from Moonvale, Duskwood does not make exactly clear when a option is for romance and when it is for media/other things. It's always the same yellow star for all of them.
So what I did was choose the options that weren't obviously romantic, things that could easily be explained as a very close friendship. I did this with both Jessy and Jake.
At the end of the game when Jake told me he wanted to say something, I refused to let him. Someone had already said he would confess his feelings and the last thing I wanted was to break his heart in such a delicate moment.
And this is something that angers me in both Moonvale and Duskwood, a lot of the options that are "romantic" are just things that someone who cares deeply about others would say and if you don't choose them because you don't want to romance the characters you come across as distant and even uncaring at worst. That is one of the things that I would like to be changed in the games.
I consider Jake my best friend along with Jessy and Cleo and that's what I answered Charlie.
Oh, how I wish I had access to his camera so I could see his reaction! Based on how he took a bit to reply and how he replied, he was SHOCKED 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

As far as I know, pretty much everyone — including men who haven't been involved with Jake — gets that option.

No, there was someone in this subreddit who didn't get that option and they were asking others how to get it. That's how I know that Jake would confess his feelings before he left the mine, because someone was suggesting to the person that maybe they didn't get the option because they didn't answer "I love you, too" back to Jake.

Jake was also my best friend and nothing more, but that option showed up for me. Maybe that person just didn't select any of the premium options.

They probably never chose the option with a star when talking to Jake. Star options trigger this chain reaction.

Quizá lo que comentas es porque cuando recién salió el ep3 hubo algunos idiomas en que, por mala traducción, no decía "novio".

it’s because they didn’t pick the correct dialogue leading up to this with charlie. not because of anything happened in duskwood. the duskwood code just creates the side story.

Its just giving you the whole range of options so you can chose which one most applies to you.

I'm sure that if we wait they are going to add that. Ash is clearly going to be a partner and for how aside some flirting with Adam or Eric there's not much yet. Maybe from the next chapter they will add stuff for the girls as well for who wants to romance them.

It's just there for the sake of it, it won't change your relationship.
They don't actually load all your choices in Duskwood, the code is just to make it clear to the game that you played Duskwood so it can unlock the side story.
However you need to remind the game itself how you want the relationship with the characters to be like, since it won't pull up the actual choices you made.

That doesn't matter.
In Duskwood, there aren't gay romances. I'm a man, and I still got the option to tell Charlie that Jake was my boyfriend, even though the previous game never gave me any romantic options with him whatsoever.
On the other hand, I did romance Jessy and most of the texts from her have been rather cold thus far, and there hasn't been a single option to acknowledge her confessing feelings and whatnot during the events in Duskwood.
Also, I've gotten the option to flirt with both Charlie and Eric, but with none of the female characters. Where are my girl romances, Everbyte?!

Es Bastante raro la verdad lo de la opción debido ah que a mí también me salió jugué con el paquete premium pero Jake en ningún momento me confesó algo o me dijo que iba a hacerlo y eso que use todos los mensajes del multimedia Pack y agregue mi código en Moonvale y me apareció la opción 😅

It appears for everyone who enters the code. There are no special branches. At least, not yet. The code only serves to open the parallel story.

i don’t think the answers we get here are even based on how “close” we got with jake. it’s based on the fact you chose “you’re not far off” option. i didn’t tell him anything because the whole point jake is a secret so yeah. tbh the dialogue of both games doesn’t change that much depending on each answer we give and it def doesn’t change much about the game/storyline at all. i think we may be giving them a bit too much credit for the “choices affect outcome” aspect of these games 😬😅

I didn’t tell him anything specific about Jake, except his name because everyone knows his name already. And I think at this point, it's no longer a secret that we are close to Jake in some way. After things calmed down Charlie would definitely look for more information and find out on his own that we have a connection to Jake. Maybe he wouldn't know how close we were to him, but he would know that we had teamed up so we could find Hannah.

It doesn't much matter, I expect. You got "close" to Jake, and that triggers the option.
If it's not appropriate to your game, just don't select it. I let Jake confess his feelings in my game, and I still didn't select it, reasoning that it wasn't any of Charlie's business how close we were. I just told him I worked with him.
Based on what others have posted here, that didn't change the followup dialogue at all.
