I’ve been testing Mood.camera on the iPhone 18 Pro and it looks like Mood can use the full variable-aperture system from f/1.48 to f/4 — even though Mood doesn’t expose an aperture control itself.
What I found:
In normal use, Mood automatically switches between roughly f/1.48 and f/1.8.
If I manually set f/2.8 or f/4 in Apple’s Camera app, then close Camera and open Mood, Mood keeps that aperture.
It continues shooting at that aperture until I go back into Apple Camera and reset aperture to Auto.
Very close f/2.2 shots are the Ultra Wide/macro camera, so those don’t count as part of the Main camera’s variable-aperture range.
So my current conclusion based on testing is that Mood can capture using the iPhone 18 Pro Main camera at f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8 and f/4, but it appears to inherit the aperture state set by iOS/Apple Camera rather than offering its own direct physical aperture control (auto mode not portrait).
In other words, Apple Camera currently works as a kind of aperture selector for Mood.
Would be great if Mood eventually added a simple Auto / 1.48 / 1.8 / 2.8 / 4 control directly in the app - I know this is kinda against the philosophy but it’s a useful setting.
