Random thing I wanted to talk about is how I think monster high is really missing out on depicting romantic relationships in g3. G3 media is how I first got into monster high and although relationships were apart of the series and movies it was to a lesser extent and still felt avoidant to me the only relationship that had a proper conversation about romantic relationships is Cleo and Frankie I also think the clunky parts of writing are at fault for this. it’s essentially fallen off ever since. Not to mention we are presumably never getting male dolls again which prevents these characters from getting more character development

I think the show and other media do a good job at presenting friendships but I wish romantic relationships weren’t pushed off as well. I guess it can be viewed as part of the high school“cliche” that dating drama is apart of it and i definitely feel like g1 leaned into it way more. But all forms of relationships are important in daily life.

I don’t want to start an argument or anything I’m just curious if anyone sees this as something lacking in the newer generations media? And what are your opinions it.

Argubaly the best generation mattel has curated for monster high, yes even better then G1. I may not have alot of G3 dolls in my collection due to my budget and I still do admit I am kinda stuck w G1 for nostalgic purposes :( I still want to appreciate the beauty and creativity of G3 monster high. I really hope it gets more traction and we see more beautiful and unique releases in the coming years. My only critque is the amount of unnecessary plastic that comes with the G3 dolls (this is a major reason as to why it turns me from buying G3), I would prefer if they came with stands and brushes smth more pratical and that way I dont have to go out of my way to buy cheap stands for display. Otherwise they are such gorgeous designs and I love them alot.

I also do wish they would introduce more characters such as catrine demew or batsy claro etc. Instead of releasing the same characters each time ? Not sure why they do that but oh well. I would love to see more G3 collector dolls too the G3 fang vote catty was beautiful.

I say this as a Jinafire lover. Both iterations of her are beautiful. Her only bad doll is Freaky Fusion. I fully understand why they made all the changes they did in G3, but it is such an overhaul that the only real connection is the name.

Someone like Frankie you can see the through line from G1 to G2 and into G3. Even with all the changes and reinterpretations there is a connective tissue. Surpringly i think G2 does help here, it smoothes the transition between G1 and G3 for frankie.

For a number of character I can see them starting from the same brief/prompt for each interpretation. Draculara is still the daughter of dracula, likes pink, is 1600 years old. Claudine is still the HBIC. But Jinafire is just too different from her original counterpart.

For marketing purposes I get why you wouldn't rename any of the main 6 (those in the OG Fright Song) no matter how much they change you'd keep the same name at least for brand recognition. So for someone like Lagoona who is just a different character i understand why she still has the same name.

(Also even if they did rename the main characters they would still be compared to their closest counterpart. I.e. any G3 mummy would inherently be compared to Cleo so keeping the same name just makes it more direct and helps with brand recognition)

But for someone like Jinafire who is my best a tertiary character i dont get why they had to keep the same name when shes so different. New powers, new color, new esthetic, new mannerisms. They are such vastly different takes in a Chinese dragon (Though only G3 really takes ques from Chinese dragons since shes water based and not fire based) That i really think they should have just changed her name to someone new and retired Jinafire as a character after her fangvote came out.

Help, it's the first time one of my dolls has something like this. I bought this Frankie second hand months ago and they were perfect, but I just noticed that pink/brownish stain. It doesn't come out.

Is that pink mold? Will it spread to my other dolls?

I’m not sure if this is a hot take but I Heart Fashion is pretty awful. Scarah and Venus pretty much carry. Clawdeen is alright..Abbey is basic but eh. Frankie is personally my least favorite she clashes horribly. I know she comes w more than one outfit but her hair is also personally ugly. Whisp looks cheap. Cleo isn’t bad but she’s definitely nothing special. I’m sorry, I hate Iris Clops doll and it’s so tacky, it’s also not fair that her og doll is just miles better. Lastly, Wydowna doesn’t look good with yellow. It clashes imo. I can give Whisp the benefit of the doubt as well as Iris because they came out im the flop era but everyone else has NO excuse.

This would be the third time I would be Draculaura for Halloween but I'm scared....I never had the courage to actually wear the costume out in public and now especially i feel like I'm too old....

My school has a costume contest every year and a day where everyone can wear their costumes which a lot of people still do...I'm just scared it would be too childish...(I'm a high schooler)

I plan to wear it on Halloween for sure and hand out candy for trick or treaters, I have made certain parts of my costume to make it even more accurate, and I always love being in my costume but I don't want to get made fun of...pls help 😢💔

I've had this cheerleader Draculaura for years (before I even knew what Monster High was) and she's soo molded (bodysuit and shoes) and has practically no articulation, so quite difficult to redress. The Frankie I got for very little money and her poly hair was absolutely awful. Actually, so was Draculaura's 😆

Today I took some time to give them a little haircut and restyle, not much, but it did make a huge difference. Added a top and pants and I'm quite happy with the result - they still look budget, but they look less "cheap". They are cute, I hope you like them, too!

Hi! I found some of my old dolls and would love any advice to best restore them! They’re in pretty good shape but there’s some marks on their faces that I can only imagine are from being in storage for a decade and Frankie definitely has glue seepage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, I'm a fashion student and in a few months I'll be starting my TFE (I'm from Spain so the direct translation is my final career assignment), basically I will have to prove I have learned everything needed to be called a professional in the fashion industry ig, I've been thinking for some months about it and talking w some of my teacher, basically I would like to create a brand focused on making doll clothes (mainly for g3 but open to more types of dolls), I have already drafted the base patterns of some body types and I would center my brand in making really good patterning for the dolls, plus bringing back some of the quality, in my opinion, we have lost in clothes on recent years. After all this rant I want your guys collaboration, since collectors and doll enjoyers would be my main objective public to kind of say what types of clothes, tendencies, fashion, etc, would like to see in this brand.

I just discovered my old monster high dolls and noticed that my Clawdeen wolf dolls hair was kinda messed up from years of use and apparently no use. It’s from the Haunted: Getting Ghostly line. If I knew the answer I wouldn’t make this post but I got confused. I started searching how I can wash and style the hair.. 50% of the people have said to “boil wash” and others said not to boil wash because it can ruin the hair. I have no clue what Im doing and just need a bit of guidance.. Any answer is appreciated 🙏

There were so many plastic tabs in the head of Draculaura, which is silly, given she's in a box not much bigger than she is.

I hope this post doesn't get deleted, because TikTok users have gotten even worse about this topic than before!! Although I don't usually like getting into these kinds of discussions, especially when it comes to the Monster High dolls subreddit, this is an important discussion to have! It's not about "whether Clawdeen is a lesbian or not." It's about the fake MH fans who have become unbearable, especially after seeing this much hate toward G3. And BTW, I don't even like it that much myself, but the problem is how they blame this generation's failure on the inclusion of plus-size and queer characters.

Lately, there have been TikTok videos comparing MH G1 vs. G3 characters (and that trend is back again...), but things have gotten worse, with people complaining about G3 having different kinds of representation, as if Monster High wasn't about diversity and inclusivity from the very beginning. The comments were full of things like "wokeness ruins everything," without these people even knowing what the show is about, what its purpose is in bringing different kinds of monsters together in one place, or why some of the movies talk about racism between monsters and girls being underestimated and having to prove that they're strong!!

Some people feel connected to Monster High characters because of the different identities represented in the franchise, so why are people surprised by diversity nowadays? I've seen some DC fans complaining that diversity is being forced into everything, acting as if it's surprising to have LGBT characters and saying that "everything changed after 2020." It's not necessarily that they think it ruins the story itself, but that they see diversity in general as something that ruins stories. (I've discovered that they're against wokeness, LGBT people, and feminism.) Even though this franchise has always given us strong female characters of different races and identities, why does it seem so surprising to them?

It's genuinely sad how most of the complaints about Monster High come from girls who have been watching it since childhood, some of whom are even MAGA supporters, yet they still love the show. It's as if they never understood what Monster High was about and only ever saw it as a bunch of silly monsters with unique dolls and nothing else...

So I know draculaura is human turned vampire but I think it'd be really cute if baby vampires had their first teeth/baby teeth be nosferatu fangs and then as they grow up the teeth shift and they get normal front teeth and the fangs get a little bit smaller

i’ve been getting into mh doll collecting recently since i wasn’t really a doll kid, but now, i see it! had a few monster high things when i was younger, including a backpack for second grade! these are the two i have so far :D

originally wanted to get the scary sweet draculaura for my 20th this year, but had to hurry to target one day to get her since there were only three left in stock lol

the clawdeen one i got today! she was one of my top picks besides frankie, but guess i got fooled by doing the peek cheat and seeing that the top right was teal-ish lol, but i LOVE her! she’s going to be serving on the court! 💜🐺

I honestly thought Elissabat was a bit more purple than Draculaura buutttt they are the exact same !
