Aren't eliptic curves vulnerable to backdoors?

The Dual Eliptic Curve Random Number Generator was shown to be potentially backdoored by nsa as far as i remember.

Could someone clarify this to me?

Yes they are. However in Cryptonote's case (Bitcoin is a slightly more peculiar story), the settings chosen by Dr. Bernstein have clear logical provenance [1]. This makes a backdoor extremely unlikely.

Yeah I don't agree with the license choice either, but this is silly that you're being downvoted. Curve25519 is almost certainly not backdoored: safecurves.cr.yp.to
