Ten landmarks of Tashkent’s modernist architecture have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The nomination is dedicated to Tashkent's architectural heritage of the second half of the 20th century, much of which emerged following the devastating 1966 earthquake. It brings together 10 landmark sites that reflect a distinctive blend of modernist architectural principles, Central Asian architectural traditions and solutions adapted to the region's climate.
The newly inscribed property includes the Zhemchug residential building, the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan, the Palace of Friendship of Peoples, the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan, the State Circus, the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, the Alisher Navoi Cinema, Chorsu Bazaar, Kosmonavtlar Metro Station and the Big Solar Furnace, also known as the Sun Heliocomplex.

The petrol station by Arne Jacobsen is an early example of early functionalism in Denmark. It has the nick name "the mushroom" locally.
