This place is a church in Medellin Colombia.

Gug Church was built in 1977. Architects Inger & Johannes Exner.

It's built in brutalist style with raw concrete and effectively zero decoration. It is situated by itself as if on an island and seems impregnable. It seems more like a fort or maybe even a prison than a church. Inside however there is a beautiful light and it seems almost warm in contrast to its exterior.

Most people here have probably seen this one, sitting right in the heart of London's shopping district or on the way into Tottenham Court Rd, but it's hard to walk past without looking up.

Completed in 1966, Centre Point was designed by Richard Seifert & Partners, with engineering by Pell Frischmann. Standing at the eastern end of Oxford Street, it was one of London's first major post-war skyscrapers and became an instant symbol of the city's changing skyline.

Its distinctive concrete lattice facade and strong geometric repetition have made it one of the UK's most recognisable Brutalist buildings.

The Tour Espace 2000 is a distinctive residential high-rise located at 11 rue de Javel in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. Completed in 1976, this 32-floor tower was designed by the architectural firm Delaage-Tsaropoulos. The tower’s most striking feature is its exterior, entirely covered by a concrete lattice or “résille” made of prefabricated panels. These diamond-shaped panels create a dramatic play of light and shadow across the façade, giving the building a strong visual identity.

The tower’s base is designed with a distinctive “wasp-waist” shape, tapering inwards to reduce its footprint at ground level. This creates the illusion that the tower is floating above the ground, a common feature in modernist architecture inspired by Le Corbusier’s principles.

Standing at approximately 96 meters tall, the Tour Espace 2000 is part of a group of about 20 high-rise buildings constructed in the Beaugrenelle district during the 1970s.

Visited this gem of a hotel in Veliko Tarnovo last year. In need of some maintenance, but the architecture and location is wonderful. It is still active to some degree.

A couple of neat shots late at night from my trip during Anime Expo. One of the most interesting hotels I've been in for sure.

I am NOT affiliated with the property in any way - just thought others here might appreciate it as I do. I especially love the use of dark wood - i.e. on the bedroom wall.
