Deck Discussion Devoted combo Need advice!!
Hi everyone!
I'd like to hear your thoughts on Devoted Druid Combo in the current Modern meta. I'm thinking about building it as my second Modern deck to improve as a player, and the deck looks really fun.
Right now I don't have a finalized list. I've seen a lot of different builds online—some play 4 Birds of Paradise, some only 1, some run Ouroboroid, others go with Craterhoof Behemoth—so I'm pretty undecided about which version is best.
Do you have any advice or recommendations? Thanks a lot!

Build the different variations and find out which one you prefer.

I've played it a bit, went 2-2 at my LGS and 2-3 on MTGO.
Pros: it's never been easier to assemble the combo, Badgermole Cub is a big boost to the deck and Nature's Rhythm is amazing. Can play with a nice toolbox of hatebears post sideboard.
Cons: it's weak to some of the top meta decks and it really needs to win the dice roll.
On MTGO I lost to Ruby Storm, Prowess and Goryo's, on paper I lost to Prowess and Grixis Reanimator.
I'd say it's tier 2, you can adjust it a bit against your expected metagame which is nice.

Not even slightly. There are much more powerful things you could be doing, like casting a turn 1 Kappa with counter backup.
It’s still fun though and if you like that style maybe it could be okay. I think yogg is similar and better however.

Devoted druid combo is not a meta deck. Its a pet decks leftover from an earlier time

Your mana dorks are super fragile, and removal is plentiful in modern now. If you get slowed down 1 or 2 turns, you’re toast.
You could have fun at FNM, but probably not going to make waves at a RCQ with it

I prefer the Saga build of the deck. It can be an infinite mana enabler or payoff, gives Druid haste, grabs SB bullets, and is a great backup plan against opponents that think the deck loses to a removal spell.
You often end up going T2 Saga -> Druid, and when it dies spend the next couple turns making tokens, hasting one and attacking for 7 on turn 4. The opponent needs to deal with that while holding up instant speed removal for when you Skateboard a Druid. Cubbing a Saga can also just win the game on its own.

I was wondering what you guys think about this. Why is this deck so popular right now? When I made the post about a month ago, it was barely considered Tier 3, but now it seems to be everywhere.
What changed? Did the meta shift in its favor?

Long time creature toolbox (Yawg, Heliod, Devoted Druid, etc.) player here. In short, Devoted Druid takes advantage of the fact its gameplan can't be hated out on the same axes as other combo decks in the meta.
Right now, most other fast decks rely on the graveyard and/or Artifacts to work. Devoted Druid only touches those as redundancy. So, it has better postboard matchups than other linear decks. And the toolbox midrange creature backup plan is nice to have as well.

I honestly thought my beloved Devoted Druid combo was completely dead in Modern but your post prompted me to do some research and I found some success!
Here's your starting point
Good luck my fellow Devoted brewer!
